Thread: Why being a doc can suck

Well as some of you guys know I am a career doctor in game lol. I buff people, I rez, I heal, all the typical doctor stuff. I don't care who you are, you can be Rebel, Imperial, Neutral I could careless. You all get me money and I am happy lol. Tonight at about 8:20pm EST I was in Coronet buffing and a "jedi friend" comes up and wants a buff. At this time I have a line of about 15-20 people and am just sitting buffing and chatting wit em all like I usually do, so since I am friends with him I bump him in the line a little. So I buff him...then comes the fun part. I watch him jump on the shuttle and leave, so I move on to the next person in line, finish them, and move on to the next in line. About this time I all of a sudden get pounced by Munchie from the PA <EVIL>. No warning nothing, didnt know I had a TEF, didnt buff anyone who was overt, nothing. Ends up incaping me since I am not buffed, no armor, and dont have a weapon equiped to defend myself (heck im a Doc/Swordsman how can I defend myself). Then a very kind soul heals me, but in the process gets attacked, because they recieved a TEF off me for doing so. It goes from bad to worse, not only does he DB this person, but then he proceeds to kill my droid.....**edit**. I have a 15 person line, and I am buffing (so no armor/weps as stated above), then he just keeps attacking, incaped me twice before the TEF finally wore off. A few people were sticking up for me (such as Mahaal and Kiel-gave me his droid so i could keep buffing) and a bunch of others rallyed around me.
Pretty much the moral is...WTH was this guy thinking I am a doctor I am not a fighter. I cannot defend myself while I am sitting there, unarmored buffing. He even stated that he stood there 2 see who I was before he attacked. I know I had a TEF, but that DOES NOT MEAN that he had to attack me. He shouted that the only reason he didnt DB me was because I had a que.
Mainly I am just trying to say that there is no need to attack a doctor in Coronet who is buffing.

That does truely suck. The lowest part of that story in my opinion is attacking your droid. That's pretty cheap and says to me the guy just wanted to grief you. I know in my experience Imps have been grief kings to those with TEF. I have no problem taking a beating if I get a TEF from reb missions but I don't think this gives you the right to torment the heck out of people (which was my experience). I had a team of imps jump me after i did a reb mission once and they incapacitated me, sat around making fun of me like the *edit* they are then when incapacitation wore off they did it again only this time they turned to my speeder while i was incapacitated and destroyed it while they waited, then I got up again and the finally incapacitated me and i had to clone.

JustG I think confirmed that this is not intended to be happening (read exploit) and will be fixed. I would expect a patch Monday or Tuesday when the Devs get back. Just be mindful of Jedi TEF I suppose and watch yourself...but ya, I always thought it was kind of lame to kill someone's droid...within the rules, but lame.

I feel your pain. Rebs didstuff like that to me a lot,before I stopped buffing for pay.

It's not just lame that this happened, it's also lame that nobody grouped up with you to take the idiot down. I guess it's like that on every server, if something like this happens, peeps just stand idly by. I've been know to (while completely unbuffed, and unarmored) heal a player who was PvP'ing, thereby gaining a TEF myself, and suddently getting gang banged by the 3 guys that they were grouped with. I usually send a tell to the person I healed, that they better win, otherwise my death meant nothing, and... they usually do 
1 death, after a heal, compared to 3 deaths on the other side. I'd say that was a pretty succesful battle, whichever side you look at it from. The problem is, people are not willing to die. The either don't care, are afraid of the 'decay' (which doesn't happen in PvP FYI), or the wounds from cloning. None of which are really all that big a deal.

when I was master doc on Bloodfin I had the same problem. for some reason people on this server pop massive hard ons killing docs who get tef'd by healing or buffing even when they know they odds are have no combat skills or very little, and they pop MASSIVE hard ons killing droids and speeders. its just incredibly lame they do that, theres like no point in blowing a bike or droid, its not like the droid is gonna chitter you to death or a bikes going to just run you over. it basically comes down to those players who really have no life but to do lame garbage in the game. I put several rebels and imperials on my "dont buff these asshats" list (I switched to both sides to see which was more fun) and a few have even been added to my current Armorsmith do not make armor for list O_O

My good man, if you buff or heal an overt you have voluntarily joined the GCW and will be attacked on sight by many, many people.
Actions have consequences. Healing or buffing an overt player makes him/her much more likely to kill the next person he or she fights, which is the only reason people walk around overt.
Stay neutral, buff in a safe zone, or don't buff overts. But if you get caught with a TEF in public, someone's gonna kill you.
I'm a doctor myself, so I speak from personal experience.
When my main is overt I kill every tabbable player I see. So do a lot of other people.
Just my opinion.

I would just like to think that there are times when you miss the other person being overt or having a tef and you end up having one. I still don't think that killing a doc while he is buffing or rather incapping him and then destroying the droid is a cool thing to do. I understand the whole GCW thing but hey some thing should be kept fair. Also it happens on both sides. Not just Imp or Reb. Docs just beware of TEFS.

While I agree this is pretty much a cowardly act..killing anyone defenseless...in reality if you are a doctor in the middle of a real war chances are good would happen there too. Usually only new doctors are unaware of the TEF thing. Your jedi friend I am sure was aware this would happen to you so it is him you should have anger towards as he didnt stay around for even a few minutes to watch over you. In a "real" war there are usually guards around medical facilities..we don't have that luxury unfortunately.
I am lucky as my main profession is master tka, so the few times I ended up with tef from healing/buffing..no one bothered me as that is title that is up..not doctor. I am not a public doctor..made that profession to help my tka but help others any time I can.
I quit running to rez people when I have been ina large solo group....I hide the fact I am a doc for a very good reason. I am there to get hides/meat or hope for loot (rare but still have hope hehe). After just 3 of hunts were ppl knew I was a doc I learned my lession. My first two missions took over 50 min to complete from ppl taking on more than they could chew..scream for me to help..then returning to take on even higher missions cause they had a doc in their pocket, so to speak, to stop consequences..usually not even bothering to tip or if they did it was a joke. Had one person message me this week: "aren't you a doc too?"...."yes"....."come heal me at **** **** " I am incap"...."sorry doing missions 3k away from there"..."hey its your job"....."pay me 60k in advance then since the time I lose coming to you I could of done two missions"..."rip off its your job"..." my job is to pay for my game...your job toknow your abilities..go back to tat." This was on dant btw incase you didnt recognize it lol. Oh and btw this type conversation not unusual..that is why I dont advertise doctor at all and never have. As a mother of two...I would be horrified if my sons acted like this even in a game. Now if I wore the doctor tag situation would be different..not really sure how he knew i was a doc..may have healed him at one time before.
