What am I missing? Is this a faction thing?

I had it happen over and over last night out in the field. The patient had not declared a side but did have some Imperial faction points..but so did I!

Please help this noob medic

Maybe it's a bug
Are you sure they weren't a covert?
Maybe they earned a TEF for helping out someone who was factioned

Not sure apart from that

It also happens if the person recently duelled, I've discovered. Those individuals just have to wait awhile (anyone know how long?) before they can be healed.

If it's the same as TEF's, I believe they last 20 minutes.
I'm not positive of that though.

I have found that this can happen to a player immediately after death. It is certainly a bug, as logging out and back in will clear it up immediately.

I too wondered about this message as a new medic, and thought it must have something to do with TEFs and factions. But, I was wrong. I discovered this when it happened to me, and then later to two party members. Each time it happened, it was always when we tried to heal wounds immediately after returning from dying. No duels were done, none of us had faction points at all, or had helped anyone with a faction...the only common factor was we all died right before this message started.

Logging out and back in immediately cleared this bug and the person was them healable again just as they should be.

Next time you have a patient that gives this message...rather than turn them away as I used to have to do...just explain that they need to log out and back inas they are bugged and can't be healed.

hopefully, this will always fix the problem, and you do not have to ever turn away patients.

However, I am an UBER NOOB, what are TEF's?
I got this while trying to heal someone in my group in the middle of combat. I also got it after we had killed the mob and we were sitting in a camp...it was rather frustrating. I don't understand how it could be a faction problem - we both had 4 faction points for the same side. I'm positive he wasn't overt - I'm married to him!

TEF stands for Temporary Enemy Flag
You get them when you are a Covert member of a faction and you help an Overt memeber of your faction.

It's basically to make you attackable by enemy overts so you cannot continually sit there healing without being able to be attacked yourself.

I believe they last for 20 minutes after a fight.
I should also point out that you get no warning that you are going to receive one. At least youd didn't last time I tried.

Try getting them to /peace. That's worked for me before. I'm pretty sure this has to do with duels.

I got this error message with a patient who just left his faction. These persons aren't factioned at the moment but have a TEF as well, since it shall prevent players to leave their faction for exploint reasons (right in the attack of rebels).

I've had the same experiences as Takiva.

No deaths, no dueling, just suddenly unable to heal someone with that stupid message until they logged out. It's managed to cause a few deaths as I simply can't help them suddenly. It's one of the bugs that should be cleared up early on since nothing pisses off a player than a useless death. Nothing pisses off a healer more than being unable to prevent a useless death.

he has to go to a rebel NPC and tell them he wants to go covert. It will take an hour or so.
