Thread: Little know but very important fact about rezing Jedi

Most players know that to get a rez you need to (A) be grouped with said doc or (B) consent the doc using /consent. Always thought this was kind if funny how a corpse can consent to anything, you don’t see docs in real live standing over someone yelling “CONSENT, CONSENT, I CAN’T SAVE YOU UNLESS YOU TYPE /CONSENT”.

REZING JEDI:
Rezing Jedi is different that rezing normal players, Jedi must give the /consent command or a doc cannot rez him even if he/she is grouped with said doc. I do not think this is a bug because when trying to rez a Jedi that has not /consented me I get the message “your Jedi target must consented you” or something like that. I found out someone was a jedi this way one time this way, he had no robes, no light saber out, and no Jedi tag up, but when I tried to rez him I got “your Jedi target must consented you”. I do not know but suspect being rezed by a doc will add to your visibility on the terms. Remember before doing something that will put you in danger consent all the docs that you are with.

edit: to add something i cam up with

I just figured out why Jedi have to /consent to a rez. As weird as it sounds it is to prevent griefing, yes griefing form a rez. Here is why, say a Jedi gank squad has a jedi and or BH with them, they kill a Jedi of the opposing faction, that Jedi loses xp because he was DB by a BH or Jedi of opposing faction. Ok here is the hard part before the gank squad killed the jedi he/she was tricked into joining a solo grouping with a doc (a doc that is working for the gank squad), so back to the fight, the dead jedi is rezed buy the doc working for the gank squad and killed again (because he is now unbuffed this can be done before the jedi can even get up), and so on (rez, DB, rez, DB, rez, DB) each time losing xp, grinding the jedi down -2mil xp or whatever Jedi cap out at. This kind of griefing would be hard to pull of but it could happen.

You can also test who is a jedi by using the /forcetransfer command. Only players with Novice Padawan and up can be the target of this skill

this is not true. this has always been a bug in a game. It has nothing to do with Jedi it happens to regualr players also. I have been rez plenty of times in groups without the doctor on my consent with my Jedi. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I am not sure what causing it to work and what causes not to. but this also happens with regular players as well its not a Jedi thing.

Yes you're correct. Even if that doc's name already appears on your consent list, you must re-consent them if you've logged off/on again. I believe this is to prevent griefing for some reason (unwanted rez ?).

There's something else I've wondered though that you raise indirectly. Does having your saber equipped as a corpse who then gets up in front of the doc give you visibility ?

This is the thing I've always wondered about the stories you hear about jedi who get killed by a BH then find themselves right back on the terminals. They get killed (saber in hand), visibility goes to zero (mission disappears), now they're on the ground with a saber equipped while the BH (and friends) stand there gloating/taking screenshots. A doc comes by to rez, or they use the ring, get up (saber equipped)... do they get instant visiblity right away after the mission is finished ?

Trying to scare all the low level padawans? Go read the FAQs about what causes Visibility. Getting rezed? I have been rezed many times...sometimes multiples in a day (enraged rancors can get kinda nasty in groups ) and have yet to hit the boards. Maybe you could do some actual testing before pulling something like this out of that air? Nothing about getting a rez violates any of the visibility rules as they exist and were stated by the devs.

No, having your LS in hand does not cause Vis, attacking whatever killed you while the doc is still standing there will tho.

Furthermore, as a Master Doctor that has been such for well over a year now, I have had to ask slain players to give me consent to rez many many many times. They were not jedi. It is a bug. Nothing else. (eg. I was in the last phase of the village, where it is under attack. I healed and rezed many players. I could NOT rez a sinlge player there without getting them to consent to me. If they were all jedi, why were they there using rifles and swords trying to beat the Sith? Only players I could rez without consent were those in my group).

I just want to say everything else was true, but this statement is incorrect. Equiping your saber does cause visiblity, tiggs posted this a while back, and it is in the FAQs acrhive.

Equiping and already having it equiped are two dif things...I was under the impression equiping it gives vis if its already equiped it will not give vis.

I have given one player an (unwanted rez ?) we were in the DWB most of the group got killed and what was left got separated and lost, on the way out I saw someone from are group get killed so I rezed him and said “RUN”, he said he was trying to die and he did not want me to rez anymore, I guess he was lost and wanted to clone out, I did not have the hart to tell him he was standing 1 room over from the exit.

The point of the post is that Jedi always have to give consent. Maybe that is because some Jedi can self-rez and may not want a doc in their group or on their consent list to do it for them.

and I am trying to telling you that that statement is not correct. I do not have to always give consent to get a rez. Maybe people in my group have rezzed me and I was not on my consent list.

I have read the FAQ, nothing about my comment is incorrect. Her statement is "equiping your LS" I said nothing of equiping. I said "having it in your hand". Those are 2 very different acts. I, as well as many of jedi have our LS in hand as we grind and travel, and have yet to see a BH visit. Why? Because we already have it in our hands, we did not equip it in front of people. If Tiggs had said that the act of "having it equiped would result in Visibility", you would have ground to stand on.
