Thread: Comparison of advanced/non advanced stims

Hey all,

I'd like to share the results of a little experiment I performed this morning. I wanted to try to quantify the difference between a stim b made with 'advanced' components from poor resources (all that is available) and a stim b made with normal components of higher quality (800+). I made two stims without experimentation. The 'advanced' stim came out with a heal value of 147 and 23 charges and the 'normal' stim came out with a heal value of 119 and 19 charges. This means that the stim B made with advanced components is about 20-25% better than a 'normal' one made with better quality resources.

Some other comparison points:

The advanced components take more total resources (total of 80 for a stim b - advanced vs 40 for normal)

You can perform more experimentation on a normal stim b because of the better components

In order to use advanced stim bs you need to keep 8 different hard to find resources on hand while for normal ones you only need four (organic, chemical, water and metal)

My conclusions: While I enjoyed hunting for the different resources necessary and succeeding in making the advanced component stims, I will only be making them until my supplies run out. After that I will go back to 'normal' ones...

Not sure if this helps anyone but here it is just the same...

The higher level stims are so overkill anyway, it is a waste of time fooling with advanced components.

Well, even with some pretty bad resources for advanced components, I can still get around a 300 heal and 30+ charges. With good resources available on other servers, people seem to be able to achieve over 400 with a stim B.

Care to post the stats on those advanced parts, or the OQ/PE on your resources? With a bad advanced liquid suspension, I still get around 89 power, whereas the best regular liquid suspension I ever made had 33 power, I think.

Some people take only part of medic and buy stim b's and stim c's; advanced parts make it far more worthwhile for them. Would you take novice medic to use a stim b with a base heal of 120, or a base heal of 400?

I almost always use an advanced bio controller(unless the schematic calls for identical ones) because I can get 10-20 more charges per stim/wound/enhance pack. I use advanced SDS's on enhance packs so I get the best buff that I can. There are a few good reasons to use advanced parts, imo.

go to www.swgmedics.com there's a good website for this discussion.

But if you want to make good Revive packs with lots of charges (24) or good Enhance packs with a great base enhance, use the advanced components. Things that are used frequently like woundpacks and stimpacks are just personal choice if you want to use advanced components.

The only thing I would use really good resources and advancedcomponents for would be buff packs. Thats where they matter the most and after the next publish willbenefit us a lot.

I think mass production in a factory would make it worthwhile for the original poster. If you're producing low volumes, advanced components are really not worth the time and expense.

Same here, I made an advanced BEC and a normal one using resources with 900+ for decay and overall. Eventhough the power and charges of the BECs where no where near the same the final product, Stim C's, had about the same healing ability.

I will not be spending 3360 for a roundtrip to Lok anymore for a while. Yea, advanced is better, but, if I can come near the same I'm just as happy.

Did you try to fully experiment on those subcomponents? It makes a huge difference.

Here are some comparison results of Medicines using All 3 Advanced Components and FULLY EXPERIMENTED upon.

Stim C's

  • 1 Advanced Component and NO Experimentation: 26 Charges and 215 Base Healing Power

  • 3 Advanced Components and NO Experimentation: 29 Charges and 230 Base Healing Power

  • 3Advanced Components and FULL Experimentation: 38 Charges and 395 Base Healing Power

Woundkit C's (Health/Action):

  • 3 Advanced Components and NO Experimentation: 28 Charges and 87 Base Healing Power

  • 3 Advanced Components and FULL Experimentation: 38 Charges and 135 Base Healing Power

With a decent Advanced BEC and regular other two components, I achieved...

Stim B

41 Charges

200 Heal

Been selling them for between 1000 and 2000 credits, depending where I sell them. They seem to go high on places like Dathomir where people do not want to spend the couple k credits to go fetch them themselves on another planet.

Hey all,

Woot. I am proud of myself for starting such an evocative thread...

I know the stims made with advanced components are better. And if you can get together the specific resources and they happen to be high quality, then they are a LOT better. But I brought up some other points that make them a pain...

It takes 40 more resources for a stim made with advanced components (64 vs 104)

You have to keep twice the resources in your inventory. For normal stims you only need to keep 4 stacks of resources on hand and for the advanced ones you need 8. I am always full on my inventory and this is pretty important for me...

So they are definitely better but it will be up to each medical professional as whether they are worth the trouble...

I couldn't imagine using anything other than advanced (unless you happen to have none available -- liquid petro 4 anyone?).

With using 2 advanced components I product stim c's that have 36 charges and 470 base heal -- significantly higher than if I were using regular comp's. Do I want to fire off a heal for 900 health and 900 action or do I want to fire off a heal for 500 health and 500 action?
