Ok - fellow Doctors, I just made novice Doc last night...and I'm having a blast! All except I can't find anyone to sell me a Med droid with a personal (chemical) crafting station!

Once I do find someone...what should I ask for and what should I expect to pay? I don't want to get ripped off...God knows that I spend all of my money on the market buying resources so I can make meds (too lazy to survey).

Any advice/help would be apprecitated!

Nevermind...if'd I'd bother to read down the posts...I'd answer my own question. Disregard! Or - if you still want to post answers, that's fine.

Can anyone tell me the point of medical droids? I ahve owned 2 now and dont really see the purpose of them other than healing in the city someplace other than the med center. What am i not doing? What is the best droid to get and what are the advantages?

Apparently you can also get droids with Food/Chem crafting stations in them so that you can craft higher level meds anywhere and also allows experimentation

I'm not sure about any other effects though

yes, some droids can be built with a food/chem station, not just a food/chem crafter, and so you are able to experiment. The point of droids out in the field, or in the hospital, is to heal damage and wounds. I dont' have one personally, so I'm not sure if you have to put medications into a hopper on the droid, or if it heals without using meds. Point being, surgical droids are better used by combat careers out in the field, but it could be nice to have a droid with a crafter/station build into it and experiment in the field.

Which droid is thebest medical droid? Easy. Look at the droid engineer skill tree.

Where do you use them? Well, if you are outside of the city, then you make a camp and call the droid. You can then disband the camp and keep the droid out. From that point, you can heal damage and wounds without being in camp or in the city. I'd say that's pretty useful.

Have you tried to heal outside of a camp? I understand that can be called in camps. After i call them and we leave the camp, i cannot heal wounds. I have an R2 unit with a med module 4 and i cannot heal wounds outside of the camp.

It seems likely that the developers didn't want droids to be able to heal wounds in the field, so maybe it only heals in the camp site. I dont think that's a big deal though, usually you aren't so worried about wounds in a fight, buta lot more worried about damage, which the droid CAN heal outside of camp. What exactly is the problem that you're having? Maybe you should just PM me.

I purchased a high end Medical Droid last night. So far it's great... except for one thing which I will get to in a moment. First I'll try to answer your concerns.

Droids with Medical Modules allow you to heal wounds in places you normally would not be able to. This is extremely handy if you want to heal someone, and can not build a camp. Sometimes while in the wild you'll get the "can not create a camp in an unbuildable area" message. Other times you'll need to heal when there are a lot of player structures around (and can't borrow a house to heal). And still other times you may not have trained the Scout Profession. This is not an issue with me yet, but as I reach my profession goals I will have to give up Scout altogether.

Droids can be equiped with Medical Modules. Of which, there are 6 different types. I may be incorrect in this, but my understanding is the higher the module the more places you can heal and the more effective you are. They can also be fitted with modules to take the place of a crafting station This is also very handy if you do not want to (or can not afford) a house. This is the real reason I bought my droid. I would be out in the wild and would run out of Stim Cs. Also, they qualify as a private/personal crafting station. This means you can use them to make Stim Ds, and other advanced Meds.

Here's where I'll get into the one thing that is "not so great". Apparently there is a bug (feature?) where some modules stop working when grouped with others. With my new droid, I had a Class 6 Medical Module installed (to heal wounds anywhere) along with a Food and Chemical Station Module, and a Weapon Droid and General Crafting Module. The problem is.... the Food and Chemical Module does not work. I do not beleive to have been scammed. The person who made the droid is someone I feel I can trust. I won't go into why... but I have reasons. I also read that R# Droids have problems with crafting stations, but my Weapon Droid and General Crafting module appears to be working. I can experiment on Camps... but not crafting kits. I believe this to simply be a bug which will hopefully be fixed in the big patch coming up.

Head over to the Droid Engineer board for more information. I'm not a DE, most of this I read on the DE board myself. I also apologize if there are any errors in the information I gave you. Hopefully this helps.

May the Force be with you!

I forgot to mention.... I have a Class 6 Medical Module on my droid, and I CAN heal wounds in the field.

hiya,

I'm trying to become the perfect self sufficient healer. So being able to make my own medical droid, that will allow me to heal anywhere is the final icying. The question is, which droid skills do i need. Do i just need a Expert Droid Blueprints for the surgical droid, would i be best with decent module's. What level of a module can i put in a advanced mouse droid?

So basically i just need to be able to make a droid, that will allow me to do what i can do in hospital but out in the open.

Ty for any responce.

for just a med module + droid, all you need is novice DE... if you want to put in a food crafting mod, you'll have to go up to adv. construction as well as int. blueprints for a droid with more than one slot.

Any tips on what quality medical modules to look for in droids? I saw two last night with a rating of 65, but I wanted to hold off until I knew what the max value is. What should I be looking for?

Also, I saw a "surgical droid" for sale that didn't list a medical module. Is there something special about this type of droid that benefits a doctor?
