So I was finishing up CM lastweek by buffing everyone in Coronet with 900 buffs. Everyone seemed grateful for the free buffs and some even gave me 10k for the crap. I found the most effective way was to buff at the place where people load in from. So I was just going around buffing people that load in most didn't notice some thanked me. Until I came across this one guy....

Dude tells you "Please do not do that again"

You reply to Dude "Sorry. You know you can buff over them though"

Dude tells you "Please do not do that again"

You reply to Dude "Okay I get it. Just tellin you that you can buff over them"

Dude tells you "I don't care if I can buff over them. You were using me for EXP."

You reply to Dude "I said I was sorry. Most don't mind free buffs even if they are crappy. You are the first to actually CARE about free buffs.

(tired of writing tell stuff) Dude: I don't care that you gave me free buffs, I care that you are using me for EXP!

Me: Okay okay okay. No need to get angry. I think I apologized 3 times now and you don't seem to care...

Dude: Go find a horse to hump, n00b. Welcome to ignore 101!

just tell him "Nah dude, I'm maxed on xp. I'm just buffing you to be nice. Here's the rest of the set. Oh and.... your welcome."

Personally though I never had a problem standing in near the clone center and yelling "Free crappy buffs - stats xxx". I never had a need to buff anyone without asking their permission.

Sorry, but I don't really see the humor.

He asked you to stop. Which part did you not understand or respect?

Personally I could care less about nija buffing but about 1% of folks do. When you find that 1% then it best to appologise and move along.

Onohos, not a bad thread idea, but your ninja buffing is already being discussed here.. (http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=doctor&message.id=54641) Clicky link. It is probably not necessary to have two threads devoted to the topic..

Anyone else have an amusing story they would like to share?

I wasn't laughing at the part about not respecting his request to stop. That should be respected, whatever the reason.

I was laughing at his reason and his rudeness. He doesn't want someone getting xp off him. Ok... but he doesn't have any problem with the artisan getting usage xp from the clothes he wears, or the bike he's riding? The weaponsmith and armorsmith getting xp from the pistol he's got equipped and the chest plate he's wearing? The merchant grinder getting xp when he buys tools andequipment? In fact, I'd bet that if I came across him in the middle of the desert of Tatooine getting whipped to an inch of his life bysquillshe wouldn't complain if I healed him back to full health, even though I got xp from it.

My point is, yeah ninja buffing is wrong. But to try to play the game so that NO holo grinder gets xp from you is ridiculous and being rude about it makes you fair game in my book to be mocked.

Your provoked the response you got. The guy said Please several times but that was not good enough for you.

Lets look at what happened from their side.

1. You did something to them they did not want.

2. They very politely asked you to stop.

3. You badgered them with information they already new but did not care about.

4. They again very politely asked you to stop.

5. You again badgered them.

6. They then had to explain themselves to you so that you could finaly take the hint that they simple did not want your service.

7. For the third time you badgered them.

8. As a last resort they got then got belligerent with you so that you would finally back off.

Yes, there is no cause that would justify such laungage. However, the entire situationcould have been avoided if you hadtaken any one of the many very polite requests they gave you to stop.

Again, 99% of folks would be happy to get something for free. There are, however, a small fraction of folks that simple do not like it. When they politely ask you to stop you should just as politely say "sorry for bothering you" and move along.

You do not have to agree with thier motives for not wanting what your offering, however, you should respect it.

Although I may not agree with their motive either I would never make a thread just to poke fun at them for their game play style.

Sorry, I still don't see the humor.

You want a good chuckle? Here ya go:

A new hobby of mine is buffing the strength and quickness of the AFK tumblers in cities such as Coronet and Theed. Sometimes they are simply amusing when they find out. Sometimes downright hateful. One time I did this to a fellow and he got very profane with his tells. I simply replied that I had no desire to speak with him, and asked if he would please stop sending me hate tells. This only encouraged him to send more. So I reported him for harassment. The next day he sent me a email calling me a **edit** for telling on him and having a CSR give him a warning.

Quite frankly, I am suprised the activities you have done have not been considered harassment. Characters have a right torefuse medical services if they wish (not many will, but they have that right). Do not buff if the do not ask for it. This does not condone their reaction to your behaviour, but soon, if people keep abusing the medical system we will be forced to suffer the need to get approval before we buff much like an ID has to go through, or some other even more henious system.

Funny is not abusing your medical skills and then listening to the other party spout off at you.

I'm sure we all have had one like this:

As I'm arriving at Fort Tusken for a little pike leveling:

Dude: Yoh Doc, can you buff me?

Me: yep 12k, all stats 2500+

Dude: NO WAY! I'M HEADED TO BESTINE WHERE I CAN GET EM FOR 8K AND HEAL MY MIND!!!

Me: Good luck

after approximately 10 minutes

Dude: I'm a shmuck, nobody is buffing anywhere, can you buff me plz?

Me: 15k (since I was in action)

Dude: I guess, btw can i group with you?

Actually, I don't think that's true. If the devs felt there was an inherent "right" to refuse buffing then they would make it like Resurrection where you have to /consent. Or training where you have to be grouped.

I can picture it now though. You're fighting on Endor hip deep in Mereks and about to die and you get a popup saying "Would you like me to save your butt?"

I truly think that's what we'd end up with if everyone was asuptightin the game as this guy. It would end up that you could only heal people in your group, only buff people that /consent, and only heal wounds when they come to a med center.

I often "ninja-heal wounds" while I'm waiting on a shuttle. If I see someone with wounds, I pull my droid and heal them. I've never asked permission and I've NEVER gotten any response other than "Thank You". To me, this is about the same as buffing. If I wasn't maxed, I'd be getting xp off them. They'd still benefit from better health. It's a win-win for everybody except cranks.

But enough on that... For a doctorly chuckle....

I was doing some crafting waiting on the shuttle one day at Yavin and wasn't paying to much attention to spatial. Suddenly I realize there's a guy in front of my asking me if I'm a doctor and could I help him. I respond "Sure, what do you need?" and he says "Can you diagnose me?" and I said "Ok" and pull up /diag. It shows he's got massive wounds on his secondaries and I realize he's also got a disease. So I said "Well, I'm out of disease packs.... it looks like you're going to die. :-)". ....But I made some disease packs up real quick and healed him.
