I rarely wear my master doc tag these days but I did the other day. A guy asks if I can train him on pharma 3. I tell him well i'm out doing a mission I can come back if you tip or you can wait for me to come back into town after I finish them. He said: "What!!! I would never tip you for training. It don't work like. You are being greedy. I know you need the apprentice points." I said you obviously don't know that a Master Doc doesn't need apprentice points. You expect me to drop what I'm doing and come running because you need training? I said forget it. I don't need the money, I was just seeing if you would take advantage of me.

So although I am against demanding payment as some here are proponents of, Inow do ask for payment if I have to travel just to weed out those who are not doing this profession right. I always tipped generously to all my trainers. It was just the right thing to do..

I don't like when a doc asks me to pay.. i myself have paid 8k for learning crap from the NPC.

I message to see if someone is around, I GO TO THEM not ask them to come to me (unless they seem to need the XP and wanna come to me). I tip 1k. Sometimes they tip me back.

I don't charge to teach, no one has tipped me but if they did I would accept it

I've paid 8k about 10 times over because I couldn't find anyone that COULD train me. I've never had anyone ask me to pay to be trained (the handful of times I've actually been trained by someone) but I've always tipped when they do. Think about how much you'd tip to be trained and, if they're asking that much or less to train you, it's still a good deal.

I have only had one doctor ask for (well not really ask for, but hint at) a tip for training. I was in grinding mode, so I tipped him 6k for training that I think would have cost me 9k from the NPC, but it saved me a trip to the med ctr, and I was able to jump back on the shuttle instead of possibly waiting another ten minutes. The doctor, whose name slips me at the moment, thanked me quite well after his tip. :-)

I don't tip for training, and I don't ask for tips for training. I think its ridiculous. To me the greatest point of the ability to share with other players what you've learned rather than have to go to an NPC is the abilty to cooperate with other players so that training doesn't have to cost anything. But no in typical American fashion, it has to be turned into a business and a way to make a buck. If someone tipped me for training - I'd give it back. At the same time of someone demanded a tip for training, I'd tell them to forget it, even if it meant I had to go to an NPC and pay full price - its the principle of the thing.

Eh, I see your point. Guess it was just a matter of timing. But I'm with you on the part that I don't charge anyone for training.

I don't charge anyone for training either but I thinkMorath was right in what to do. It makes you see the true colour of people. I normally will only train people that I know becuase I too rarely wear my MD tag. I will always get a /tell from someone, "Hi...can you train/heal me?"

Well this will be the convo:

Someone: "Hi...can you train/heal me?"

Me: "Listen..I'm out hunting at the moment. If you can cover my expenses, I will get my friend to kill me so I can come back."

Someone: "Huh? Expenses?"

Me: "Yeah. I will heal you if you pay me."

Someone: "**edit** n00b! My friend is a Doctor and can heal me!"

Me: "So why don't you ask them?"

*add ignore to someone*

But people really do take advantage of us, I guess we all let ourselves get walked over when we were med students so we are feeling the full force of it now.

I think I maxed out on app points 2 months ago, so I have 0 need to train anyone. When someone tells me and asks to be trained I ask for payment for services. I mean really, it is teching a skill to someone, and I don't know about you, but if I went up to say someone with a computer certification and asked them to teach me for free they would laugh me out of their office.

This is the same principal. I personally bought 95% of my training from NPC's as I maxed out 2 weeks after the game went live. I don't have any reason to train someone for free other than if I want to be nice. I feel that if I train them for free they will expect to be tought their next skill for free, then their next skill, and so on. That just takes advantage of us, just like how people act when you ask for payment for healing.

I never ask for money for training another player, I have never sent them back either if someone /tips me.

I never offer money for training, and if someone asked me to payI imagine that I would make a decison at the time as to if I wanted to or not. Currently it has never gone down that way so it is hard to say. I would be less than thrilled at the idea, it is as was said here one of the things about this game that I think is an interesting feature, that you don't need to see NPC trainers for 90% of your training, but instead there is a system in place that encourages player interation.

Thankfully I wear a novice brawler tag, instead of my Master Doctor title. If I see someone asking for training, without being a spamming idiot, I usually offer training, without thinking of being tipped.

I've bought ALL my training with the exception of one tier four box in Doctor, and actually getting my Master Doctor box, (Thanks Missi!). I tipped both times, 4 or 5k.
