Thread: Doctor Recognition

Hey im a Doctor from Corbantis Realm, now I don't know about the other realms, but in my realm, doctors have absolutely no recognition. People seem to think that Buff Packs just appear out of mid-air, and that avian meat is a simple task to get. Avian meat is up to 500 CPU on our realm right now which is near the highest its ever been. I myself am a buffer, i usually let people choose their price on buffs but usually expect at least an 8k minimum. I've had people try to pay 5k before and when i tell them they need to pay more they think that im ripping them off. Most doctors charge 15k. The point is, wheres the recognition, do they even care about what we do? It seems like they think that were just there to buff them whenever convenience strikes. I've been a doc 6 months but personally im getting really tired of people thinking I dont work for the money i make, I buff for hours on end and people think I do crap for work. If some of you Non-Docs knew **edit**ing annoying you are asking us if we got your payment, the price, the stats, the line situation, etc etc... You'd wanna kill yourself. You people are so ignurant and impatient and have no appreciation for any professions but combat professions's. I'd like to know what other people think of this. I don't think doc is the only prof that has no recognition by a longshot so dont post about Dancers, Musicians etc too. This post is about doctor recognition and only doctor recognition. (Opinions?)

Bloodfin has Tat Avian at 400 (nunas, shudder but worth hitting 1000+ power) At least on our server our doctors who serve the community by making packs and other items etc etc are generally well known and respected. Most people see the average doctor as a rich toon. We are supposed to sit around and serve them enhancements because it makes us money and thats all that we are interested in. If people are rude to you tell them to go away. I dropped my MD/Fencer templete and went MD/CM (almost useless as anything but a support role in PVP for those who want to try it, but still fun) So I find myself back in the starports buffing again to support myself. Since sitting at a starport isn't much fun and people will still treat you like a third clas citizen just put in a disclaimer into your advertsing. For example,

"Buffing 2100+/3 hours+ I reserve the right to refuse you service after you've waited in line the whole time. Yes, you can duel your way to the front if the next person consents."

People stop being rude if they realize that you have the power to say, "No, I'm not gonna buff you, next." While some may find this rude thats fine. We control a market that everyone is interested in.

Ilych, you're right....to a degree.

Unfortunately, not all doctors band together in a common union. At least on Chilastra, we engage in a lot of competition....and after being denied service from one doctor, rude people tend to just get buffs from another doc a few meters away.

God Scin I know what you mean, it's really sick. I'm from scylla and just the other day some guy was beinga total **edit** for to a doc (out of his own ignorance and stupidity), and the doc 10m away happily starts buffing him. Being a master doc I inquired why he would do this when he treated someone from his own profession so poorly...got no response from him. So yes, competition is good, but that's just retarded.

Also wanted to post on the subject of doc recognition. I'm totally with you guys in saying that docs don't get enough recognition. I never buff commercially (have over 9 mil saved up, why bother?) but will generally buff someone when they ask it. If i see no docs in coronet, I'll also start to buff then. I do it because I know how hard it is to find buffs sometimes, and therefore doing these people a favor. No one seems to get that I don't need their money (need to cover expenses though) and that I'm doing it out of the kindness of my heart. Other day I was buffing at 4 AM and made the comment "oh god I'm never gonna be able to sleep" because people kept flooding into my line. Someone in the back actually replied "well we appreciate you staying here man, you're helping us out a lot". When I heard that comment I was actually shocked at someone giving me thanks for helping them rather than the tip/thx and run off I usually do. Not much we can do about it I'm afraid, but it is annoying as hell.

Yeah - I'd have to agree with everyone here on all counts.

Doctors are nothing more than buff bots to the player community.

So what if I'm standing at the Coronet Starport looking at the scenery or sending tell messages to my mates or chewing the fat with my mates on guildchat?

Them: "dude you buffin"

Or: "do u buf"

Or: "buff me plz"

Or: "what are the stats and how much"

Do you see me advertising the fact that I'm wanting to buff? Do I have my R2 droid out and active? Am I sitting down? Am I sending out shouts or says to state I'm buffing people for my price? Not now, not ever.

Of course, I'm not rude, so I reply to them "Sure, I can buff you - it'll cost you 12K"

Them: "12K??? why are your prices so high?" (When they know full well most other doctors are buffing for 10K... jeesh, what's 2K in this game? Why do they need to so desperately look at their purses when having received a buff, they can complete a mission that will easily pay 15K which will more than make up for the price for the buff?)

Me: "That's my price. I'm not advertising - you asked me if I wanted to buff you."

Them: "Ok then." /tip 12000

Me: "All done"

Them: "thx"

And in the entire transation, the other party didn't spell a single word of English properly. You try to engage them in conversation, no response...

Oh - here's another tirade I can provide to you guys.

I'm outside the Bestine cantina chewing the fat with my mates, I'm playing about buffing their pets for the hell of it. This guy saunters up to me: "you heal me plz?"

"Sure mate - just a sec" I finish off the buff of my mates and their pets.

"Hurry up! I'm in a rush"

"Ok - but as you're not intending to pay me for the heal and I'm about to heal you out of the goodness of my own heart, you have to wait till I'm good and ready to do so"

"Secondaries also." (notice the demands starting to sprout)

"You know, you'd get a lot further in interractions with other players if you weren't so rude and abrupt about things. I was finishing off a task for my mates. You should wait if you don't expect to pay up front"

"Don't speak to a veteran of the game that way"

"I'd bloody well expect a veteran of the game to know better then. You should have bloody well known better. You're a rude person and you now have the option of finding some other person to heal your wounds, go to the medical centre and sit there till your wounds are healed or you apologise for what you've said to me!"

"ok, srry"

"I didn't find that to have much meaning behind that mate."

"You don't like Europeans?"

"No, I don't like rude people. Apologise like you mean it and I might consider healing the rest of your wounds up."

"srry, I was in a rush - have to get somewhere"

So I complete the heal of him even though I should have let the guy rot in his partially healed wounds, but I'm not that type of person. But the guile of the guy - he leaves with the parting comment of "Dirty Imp" once I'm done.

Rudeness should not be tolerated.

So many times has that happened to me, and i also get invites to endless amounts of groups.

Now whats so bad about the groups is6+ fold

Firstly, half of em say atleast once. "Don't shot them (or don't use special shots) cos then you cant heal us as fast.)

Secondly, a quarter of them say. "Can you buff us all so we can do the bigger missions." What most of the time there is no offer of payment or anything for this, and they think the money i will get from the dragonette or sharnaff missions will cover the cost.

Thirdly, they seem to think wound and damage packs are free (when you work it out its about 20-50creds a charge what isnt much for damage packs) and they spend nothing shooting their guns and hitting things with their VKs/swords/sticks.

Forth, you always get critisised if you didnt heal someone and they ended up dead, reguardless of how well you have been keeping them all alive.

Fifth, i always found CM made better damage healers, as i used to have area heals that could cover a 35m radius and have a 30m range. But even then i never got money from them even if they invited me, and never got a thank you or anything. But also as a CM i got moaned at if i used a poison or desease on anything other than a nightsister or something equally heavy.

Sixth, never ever ever ever ever ever got money for healing wounds either as a Medic, CM or Doc, and that is the life of my account (about 9-10 months, as i got it about 3 weeks before euro release.)

on a somewhat unrelated note - I ran into Coronet's laziest scammer the other day. He didn't even have any flashy emotes or tricky bank statements for me. He just told me he was bugged, and that his bank tips wouldn't go through until he had left the planet he was on via shuttle. So if I would be so kind as to go ahead and buff him, the credits should appear in my bank account, in approx. 10 mins

Thing I hate about scammer types though, is how indignant they become after they're denied the scam. When I didn't tro' down a buff on this guy he starts rantin' and ravin' about how I'm gonna be reported, I'd better tip back his credits once they magically appear, blah, blah, blah, etc, etc, etc...

I like Buffing not for the credits, thats why i've been Doctor so long.

But everyone thinks its for Cash,Sure i Chargecredits it takes alot of Credits to Buy all of the supplies.

But just because i like it does not give anyone the right to Boss around for Free heals and find out laters/he tiped 1100cr insted of 11k

I meet good people some knows the Price right off and says i'm the Best and Invites me to hunts and all that.

But i can hardly stand @$$Hats that think that i'm from Commuinity Servise and everything i Do is always for all for s/he

As far as i can remember i'm the one that grinded off Tumblers for 5 days and another day to Get crafting
