Well, I just became Master Doctor a few days ago, and yes, I do Public Buffing.

Anyways, as a new Doc I needed to gain a Customer Base, so I do 2300-2400 Buffs for 12k, and give them a nice Stim B (399 power 42 Charges) for free. And I get quite a lot of nice response from people. For example "You're the man!" and I love it when people say "AWESOME BUFFS!" That just makes my day. I havent had one bad experience in the 300 people I buff. I give some buffs away for free or at discount to people that cant afford it.

THATS NICE!!! I buy my Buff Packs too, but on Gorath the ones that hit for 2.5k cost about twice as much for the ones that hit 2385, and 2477. So I just go with the slightly lower ones.

The Problem with Public Buffing is that your Regular Costermers ask you if your buffing even though your on the oppisate side on the galaxy and Your tital,Driod is not out.

From waht I've seen on Kettemoor, avian goes for about 150 cpu on the docs that are well-known buyers. This depends on quality, but in general 100-200 cpu (although 200 seems pretty extreme in our case, but not unheard of). Buff packs themselves go for 10-20k, but usually reside in 15-18k. Most docs buff for right at 10k for a set, but some have strayed to 12k if they ahve good packs and can get the business. I've heard higher at remote caves or places like the geos or death watch, but in big cities it seems to be right at 10k. As far as docs and buffs go, kettemoor "seems" stable and pretty fair (at least to me anyway).

I don't know, some people are rude no matter what. However, most of the people I run into that want a buff are pretty nice.

Several times after I buff someone I say "ty" and they say "no, thank you doc".

I have not done any spamming to sell buffs yet, all I have to do is fly into Theed ot Cnet and people start sending the tells. I am not against the spamming, don't get me wrong. People need to know where they can go to get a buff.

Anyway, keep your chin up. Doctors are needed (everyone is addicted to buffs), and doing 6-10 buffs per day takes much less time than doing missions for money. Which leaves you with then money you need to keep harvesters going, and it leaves you with the time to do missions you want to do. It is a good balance since we are usually better at healing than fighting.

I guess we are lucky on Kauri because everyone is very polite when I buff. After 2 wks of buffing I have a small base of loyal customers that will send me a tell first asking if I'm around to buff, giving me the opportunity to get their business first. If I'm around great, if not they say 'thanks, just wanted to give you a chance first'. I've had only a few rude people, but if you hit them with some humor you can diffuse them quickly. But by and large 95% of the customers I have buffed are very polite and say thanks, even when the line is 10min+.

I'm sure that by posting this I have damned myself...when I sign on in a few minutes I'm sure that the first guy I get will be the worst jag on Kauri

Yeah i get alot who thank me and stuff aswell for buffs and i normally talk to people as im doing them, but its just the ones who dont talk or dont say thanks what annoy me. I buff on Euro Chimmy, and if in coronet i will buff for 9-10-11k max, while everyone else arround me is doing 11-12-13-14-15k ones what are the same quality or only a little better. (mine are 2350, last 3:20. But some people charge 13k for 2200 buffs as they dont want to use Bivoli and only last 2:40. BUT then again, people pay it, cos in game you seem to need buffs to do anything, and with a quick trip to dant you can do 2 quenker missions and thats covered your trip there, and back, and the cost of the buffs. Then you have about 3 hours to get anything else.

But at the moment i buy my buffs at a shop that charges 86,000 (i think) for a crate of 5 buff packs at the 860 quality they are and long duration with 30 charges each. But a shop 400m away sells ones that are same charges and time, but have 880-920 power for 135,000 for a crate of 5. Personally i dont think its worth it to have that extra 200 max on the stats. But then again im a carbineer on 1 character, so if buffed i can sustain my pools even if a spam specials, and a fencer on anoughter so most things go down before ineed to rest (dizzy hit 2 area hit rocks).

Without pouring out all my rage and hatred towards the rude ones, I would at least like to second a lot of comments on here. When I went for Doctor as a "noob" I did not even know about "buffs" nor did I understand them until later. My initial interest was in being able to help out people in the same way Clerics did for parties in AD&D. What really drives me crazy are the people who get a "freebie" then somehow feel it is their "right" to get free buffs for the rest of their life, it is a chore when you get six, seven, or more of these relentless people after you. At the moment I am considering quitting Master Doctor because any time of the day I log on before the screen comes up I have several people "stalking" me for buffs. Most of them want me to fly to the planet they are on, buff them, then go about my merry way once they are taken care of, and never once offer to even tip to compensate for all the shuttle and starport fees. Some of the worst offenders are "Noobs" and super powerfull TKM's who feel the absolute need to walk around the game 24/7 buffed even when they are not in combat. The TKM's and Commandos then knowing I am a Doc have the nerve to ask me for a "loan" to get some training, when they in fact can run all the super powerfull missions and get tons of credits easy. Speaking of "Noobs" it is becomming apparent that just as in real life, those who are handed everything on a "Golden Platter" never really ever have to appreciate workingto EARNsomething. Maybe it is timeas a community that we have to rethink how much help is provided to newbies. Case in point being my buddy who signed on and was given Advanced Composite Armor by another mutual friend, and then was honest to God scared to leave his house without his Composite Armor on, and BUFFED TO BOOT!!!!! Well, I could go on and on and on but need to stop before I have an anurism....

P.S. I have had plenty of people tip me a second time because they were pleased with their buffs, so not all "patients" are bad ones.

I got anoughter one now aswell.

People who tip you for no reason. I think we all know and have met those people who just see the title and presume that you are buffing, OR that you are buffing someone else so that you must be buffing everyone. So they tip you X amount of money (normally in the case of Euro Chimmy about 12-15k) and expect you to buff them, dispite the fact you havnt said you were buffing OR had said several times that you dont want any more tips because you want to log out or do something else, or your Bivoli is running out or havnt got any more buff packs left after you fill the current orders you have.

One of the other ones i found is if i am logging out and someone tips me the money for a buff dispite me not advertising. Sometimes i catch it and stand back up and tip them back their money, but other times i dont as its in the last 5 seconds or i walked away from my computer already, or even the fact you can bank tip an LD (Link Dead [offline, normally just logged out]) and they then send you about 50 emails saying how you suck and your evil cos they paid you and you didnt buff them, or they badmouthed you to everone now or even posted it on the forums that you stole their money.

And one more for luck. I hate all those people who whine and whine and whine and moan at you if you tell them you arnt buffing anyone else, and they say'you can do one more' or 'can you do me aswell' or even the dreaded 'but itipped you just now' or 'I will pay you [X amount] more'. And with any of these if you do give in then it leads to 1 of 3 things.

1) You are then caught in the trap and you then get anoughter one and anougher one and the list grows and you never ever log out again.

2) You say no and they say they will report you or post something on the boards or tell all their guildmates not to come to you. What most of the time means nothing as you have enough people anyway and could afford to lose jerks like that.

3) They are fine with it in the end and life goes on.

Now a couple of good things.

1) If my bivoli runs out mid buff (or it says it has 20 seconds left but doesnt work, what often happens) i either offer a 2k rebait on any 2100 stat buffs (normally 2300 with bivoli) or will eat the bivoli again and rebuff them.

2) I will buff groups in trade for things i want. If people have some janta blood, i am sometimes willing to trade it for buffing X amount of people. As janta blood makes good PVP buffs.

Personally i use buffing as a way of both making money and doing a service while im watching TV. As its preaty each to set up a buffing macro and a shout macro, so you can say you are doing buffs, and also have something to do while you are otherwise not going to do anything productive, or are just chating or discussing things with group/guild chats and tells.

Hi all.

Like the origional poster, I'm a Master Doc on Corbantis.

I think that al least part of the problem is this: when I'm "starport buffing" I'm trying to do too many things at once.

  1. I'm in tell-hell

  2. I'm watching my e-mail to determine who's next in line

  3. I'm keeping an eye on my Bivoli duration

  4. I'm madly scrolling up to find that person who wants to cut the line or only wants Action/Health buffed

  5. I'm trying to target the next person in the crowd

  6. I'm keeping an eye on my droid charge

  7. I'm making sure that my buff pack supply is sufficient to buff everyone in my line

The point of all this being: that when I'm "starport buffing" I am essentially*reduced* to a buff bot by the sheer volume of /t typing and tasks I have to complete. I simply can't give the personal, friendly attention to each customer that I'd like.

Now, I have seen incredibly gifted typists who can seemingly do all the above, broadcast the current line order, train noobs, and chat amicably with each and every customer. Unfortunately, I am not that person. My typing skills are moderate at best. In the heat of battle I can barely get out a "yw" if someone IS kind enough to thank me.

So maybe we're being treated like buff bots because that's essentially what weare for the hour or so that we're doing "starport buffing". Why should I expect someone to be kind and appreciative when all I can do is grunt?

Maybe someone should start a thread: "Friendly Buffing Macros for the Harried Buff Bot." lol

Firsrt i wanna say lot of good points brought up in previous posts(to many for me to refer to) so just thought id put my two cents.

First of im what i consider a 'fighting doc' my main reason for having master doc these days is purely as a support role n pvp and neutralizing those deadly cms' but i must admit i do occasionly buff in corolag or some other place but its usually when im doing somethign afk and only need to really keep one on the screen..

through my time being master doc ive found alot of people can be very very rude in regards to our proffesion they expect us to wait on them hand and foot and come buff/heal/cure at a drop of hat like we owe them it purely because were doctors.

to be honest in a fight im running around curing and healing like no ones business(plus doing some damage with my 453max stun baton muahhha).

but when im not and im jsut sitting round with my buds im constantly getting tells for heals and buffs, and when i decline you wouldnt beleive the amount of abuse i get.

i mean come on why do i have to serve someone else?

not every scout out there has to go andharvest for me.

idont expect every swordsman to go do some dungeons and loot for me.

any time i do somethig for someone i expect them to appreciate it not expect it. but i must say that i have come across people in cantina who actually ask me really really nicely to heal there wounds so i do(especailly when theyre jsut all black bars) and once u woulbnt believe it but after i get a tip!!!

i know i was shocked to almsot fell over, gave the guy a free 2300+ buff jsut for the decency he showed.!!!

well thats jsut a few of my thoughts, sorry for the randomness and lack of correct spelling/punctuation

(oh yeah my biggest pet peeve being a doc, someone coming up with like 3 wounds, when im sitting with like 20 or 30beggin for em to be healed with my stim e packs, i dont think so, our 3 wounds rearly that dire?)

Add some more input from my galaxy, noticed how you were all listing your prices, the one person who has some of the best prices in our galaxy is pleco, 125k for a crate of 5, most every other doc in our galaxy is going around 180-200k for a crate of 5, and people wonder why docs charge so much. Let me put it to you in my best terms, i decided to stock up on buff packs the other day so i wouldnt have to go shop for a while, got crates of 10 of each, cost me 1.5 million credits for it. Rediculous? Very!
