My first experience with buffs was as a Novice Rifleman while doing the "grind." While grabbing more Piket missions, a fellow guildie ran by and asked the question, "Hey, do you want some buffs?" Being clueless, I replied with, "Umm...sure... What are buffs?"
Summer (TKM/Master Doc at the time) whipped out her droid, donned her healing dress, and proceeded to buff my stats. It was amazing. My health and action pools jumped to three times their normal values. I asked her how much I owed her and she simply smiled and replied, "No charge."
The next set of Pikets were in for a surprise. I was death incarnate! I was the bane of all Pikets! I was using OverchargeShot1 with wild abandon. No longer was this Novice Rifleman cowering behind his ConcealShot.
I realized just how much help Summer had given to a newbie.
Through the rest of the Rifleman grind, Summer, Jaf, Tyy'che and Tiffany supplied buff after buff (and the odd rez.) Not once was I ever required to pay for any of their help. It made the game a far more enjoyable experience. I wanted to be like them.
It's impossible to do this sort of thing for everyone. So, I reserve most of my services (and products) for guild members. Hopefully, we won't get too large.
So...why'd you all become docs, anyway?

Did it to make the game easier on me and my friends. Have the 2 most important and expensive things in the game covered, MAS and Doc and my friends love me for it, especially my MWS freind.

To help others. I seem to enjoy playing support roles.
My friend was telling me about how much people used to cry "Medic!!" (back in June-July, when I started) and so I was so eager to jump in, because I was speculating (when I was on the forums before the game came out) that I would play a Medic. In the beginning the cries for Medic were many. Doctors were few and far between and very respected. I spent the first few weeks of the game traveling between Med Center & Cantina.
Dancers there (Doc/Dancer was I) would chat with me and encourage me and burn their action with flourishes and we would play games to see if they could burn me out. So much fun was had. And then when I got done with that I would dance for a while, then back to healing. Then to the Med Center. Good gawd was it a sight when someone came in black barred. We'd all rush (you know, back when Medics weren't AFK healing tumblers) to try and get experience off of healing his/her wounds.
After some weeks of that,I became a Master Doctor. Proudly I donned that title.. people called to me for help, for rezzes, to go on hunting groups. And when they were all busted up, they sat in camps while I danced away fatigue and mind wounds.
The days...
Days long gone.

Becuase I have some free time in the game so I figured I could make some money by buffing. Also when my group goes PvPing and encounter a CM I'm god
I heal all their states, I'm their support and it really helps.
It might now make you the best 1 on 1 PvPer, but in a group your the heart of the group.

A doc was needed among my friends, and in my guild. (The possibility of buffing for cash also intrigued me) They asked, and I did.I am also a TKM, which means I wont have to worry about where my sp is going.. lol.

i did it for 2 reasons. the first was because i wanted to help out my friends when we go hunting and such for guild things(also to keep myself alive if need be), the second was because i elt pitty on those who after reset were crying out for a doctor, so i've decided to answer ther pained cries

At the time I was a Fencer def stacker (back when dodge was not hard capped).
This was a period of adaptation in PvP because profession defences hadrecently been beefed up, so we were just begining to see a shift from offensive templates to defensive templates (actually, by this time, the shift was fairly complete).
The knowledge that intimidate canceled out secondary defences was not wide-spread back then, but it was slowly starting to percolate among the masses, so my once enjoyed invincibility was slowly becoming less and less effective.
About this time, I witnessed, for the first time, a doctor heal his dizzy state while KD'd (this was totally amazing to me). Intrigued I started researching doctor a bit (researching = looking at the skill tree). This is when I learned that Doctors could heal all status effects.
Shortly thereafter, I dropped all combat professions but Fencer and picked up Doctor to complete it.
After afair period of success with this template, they announced defence hard caps and people started realising that Fencer defences on their own were pretty solid and the Fencer/Doctor templates that were so prevalent till a few weeks ago began cropping up more and more.
This is about when I decided to drop Fencer and I started a profession quest (essentially trying out all elite weapon professions).
Throughout all this, my interest in PvP has waned, but I have kept Master Doctor. It is the one profession I cannot see my self ever dropping.
As a rule I don't do the sit-and-buff doc routine so for the longest time, I've refused to wear the Master Doctor tag. But seeing as how throughout all my profession changes, Doctor was the only constant, I've come to consider myself a Doctor first and a combatant second, so I've recently started wearing my Master Doctor tag. Mostly, as an act of pride, but also as an act of defiance ("Yes I'm a Doctor, no I will not buff you").
So why did I become a doctor? To compliment Fencer.
Why am I still a Doctor? Mostly because it makes my and my friends' life easier (buffs, heals, rez). But also, every now and then, I will join an inexperienced hunting group and the reaction I get for fully healing someone from incap or even bringing someone back from the dead ("Wow! That's soooo cool!") and that always makes me smile. It's a refreshing change from the jaded "buffmekthxbye" crowd.

Well I chose to be a doctor before I was sure they were going to have them. I knew that it would be a very valuable assest to my guild and closest friends. In the end I am keeping it becuase I love being a swordsman and being a doc is handy doing that. Also I hate to see these people who go to places were people needs buffs bad, like outposts on planets near the dungeons and charge people loads of creds to buff.I never quote a price I always let the person decide what they are worth, i have only rarely had a person not pay or not tell me they couldnt. I am kinda like a national health plan, everybody gets served and you pay what you can.

I started as a master swordsman not really knowing what else to do with it. I then decided to do as much CM as possible with it. 4-4-0-4 . I enjoyed the ranged and group heals with that prof. then using the poisons/diseases. I did not PvP regularly either. Then the two Docs in our guild decide to " take a break" and we were without a doc. So I decided to become a Doc. Now I will just run around and heal, rez, buff, people in my guild and others that I come across. It is a great feeling when you feel that you add to the community. I thinkmost doc do add. I enjoy it. It has made my playing experience much more fun.

the hot nurses
but I found there was none
I joined this game with a group of friends, I started as a medic so doctor seemed to be the next natural step. I still remain the group healer.

I started playing the game with a couple colleagues from the office. I took the typical smattering of novice professions and dabbled a bit, but I really liked playing the support role of medic. I quickly determined that I would like to become a combat medic to get the area heals. I never once made or threw a poison or disease while I had my master combat medic title (my mistake).
I dropped combat medic to pursue the rez ability and I thought buffing might be fun as well. I now enjoy the crafting/resource management aspects more than anything else.
