Thread: High-end PvE healing....non-existant?

Actually, I'm not sure what your MDef was doing, but I'm MDef/MLS and tanked one just fine and did damage while my friend healed. He wasn't MH either, only 4000. It was only the two of us and we got him down to half health before someone came thru on a swoop and aggroed the rest of the Krayts into me. lol. Oh well. Point is, I think it can be done with three people if they're prepared for a tough fight.
that would of been me, the Master defender/LS... what he left out is that i have only novice healer, which true, is a weakness, but i cope with it well, withgood companions and tactics... i much prefere having the bits in enhancer than healing, and use stims most the time.
The group was proberly overkill for the task of just killing the ancient, but it was late and didn't feel like failing and having to try again, also with many other adolencent/grand krayts nearby, if it came to it, i would of liked to be able to cope with them also as the only one tanking. As ancient krayts and like other bigger krayts have that nasty area attack, i was the only one in melee range anyway, as the damage output from the krayt was too high for the others to stay near it long, asi was the onlymaster defender.
I could of proberly not used AI, and done my bit in healing, with the help of ad'...but then i'd be stuck healing all the time, with stims/novice heals, meaning no chance to do useful states and damage, also with the lagg, it was alot more reliable for me to use AI, incased i hit a lagg spike as both ad' and myself was sometimes getting 5 second lagg causing a (near) fatal blow. which as the only one tanking, would of meant most likely the others would not lasted long after i went, it became required for me not to fail in my role, or else it would of mostly likely ended it for everyone else.
I agree with ad', it almost silly that it has become neccessary to need the service of a master defender (from just a jediskillset point of view) in order to take on these higher level creatures/npc's... but as i like this role, as a tank, i dont have a problem with my role being an important one, but from i can see why others might not find this a good thing, as it means my role as a master defender will always be required on the high end content.
I do feel the power of some of the other masteries, needs to be increased, i dont like nerfs, and would rather see another mastery become more powerful to keep the balance between the 5, so to create better diversity, as there is a tendency to be far more master defenders than they should be if there suppose to be balanced. Saying that i have had the aim to be a defender long before the CU... since pub 10 or so, its suits my role and play style, not because it is the best... you might of guessed that by practically no healing.

Perhaps, but your talking about a group of jedi. This game isn't all about us...
A group of marksman can handle those easily.. in fact just 2 with root. Alternate, it never moves or gets a chance to attack.

as said above root should not be the only way to do these mobs.
i agree that 2 marks can do them, but will be the same for let's say 8 melee characters?
i think that 8 full template chars should be more viable than just 2 in any situation.
not to say that these chars are useless and not welcome in groups against certain mobs.

I think I saw somewhere they said they want to take emphasis off melee professions (which I interpret as "stop supporting them and slowly phase them out"). Tanks can't tank, as mentioned before. As a pike/doc, an ancient kills me in 2-3 hits. All the food and drink in the world doesn't give me fast enough recharge to heal, nor are the heals enough at that level.
I just sum it up as "in a year, everyone will have a blaster and a rooting move" and the docs will just run side by side the rifleman. Just in case.

Yes, I'm a Master Healer...
Yestarday I headed to the Krayt Graveyard to get the Ancient Krayt badge.
After about 20 minutes we found one. It was me (Master Healer/LS), a Master Enhancer/LS, a MDEF/LS, and 2 Master Riflemen.
The Mdef agroed two of them (an ancient and a Grand) so the enhancer just laid a stasis on the grand and we took up the fight with the Ancient.
In 3 seconds the Defender was down to 900 health. I laid a total heal on him, which brought him to full, then by the time I was able to use Advanced Heal (1500) he was back down to 1000. He had to use Avoid Incap and I just spent the time sapping and transfering force.
The Ancient Krayt was only level 90....I've fought Level 290 DJMs. Without avoid incap nothing over level 90 can be beat without kiting...
I just want to know if I'm alone in this or if anyone else has noticed the same problem...
I agree that is a problem and kiting should be not the only way to do certain mobs or melee classes will be useless or obsolete in high end game.
excluding DJM and DJK that are actually a sort of bug i think that damage should be reworked for some high end mobs, to permit to melee/tanks (expecially non jedi ones) to fulfill their role and be able to tank and deal damage whitout gettin incapped in 2 hits
