Thread: Marrow, why have you let the docs go so far down the drain?
drfeelgood9 wrote:It is pathetic to be a doc now. We serve absolutly no purpose in this game at all. 10 minute buffs, no crafting skills, and no combat skills. What are we good for?
Healing!
Not Marrow's fault, he is just Correspondent. And buffs are 40+ mins.
MD is incredibly useful. It is just a matter of perception. If by useful you define it as sitting in a starport makine 10k every 30 seconds, then no, it's not useful.
Combine it with Master TK for example and it is awesome. Groups love seeing me as everyone gets buffed up, rez, healed, etc. People do appreciate buffs, they just aren't keen on getting them in the starport because by the time they get to where they are going, they run out. A doc's usefullness is now on the battlefield. A good doc can allow a group to succeed where otherwise they would certainly fail. It's all about how you play it.

I don't understand this lack of understanding of the correspondent program by some players. When did we become paid game designers at SOE? Oh yeah, we didn't.
Correspondents correspond with the devs about the players concerns and desires for our professions. Whether they actually take what we say on board and fix the issues and add features is entirely at their perogative.
So, once again, correspondents have no say in what gets done. None. Zip. Zilch, Nada. Zero. Anyone who has read Raph Kosters MMO document knows the correspondent program is simply a tool to make a small portion of the community feel special, and is not taken seriously by the dev team. Just look at what they did to the dedicated unpaid players on Test Center.
Do I make myself clear?
QFE. Marrow does a good job.

Thats the problem. We went from a social/crafter/combat profession to just combat.
I dont care what anyone says we are not docs anymore we are combat medics. Sure one does dots (CMs), and the other cures them (Docs) but we are all combat medics. Theres no reason for a doctor to be in a hospital or even to cure wounds. Sure I heal wounds for members of my group, but who's wants to sitin a med centerand heal wounds when it takes forever and you get no XP? Lets not even bring up the fact that some people dont want to tip either.
I dont know why they want to FORCE docs into the field and into groups.
Marrow did nothing wrong. If you want to place blame on a system you don't understand or dislike, you need to talk with the game designers themselves. A corespondent's job is just to communicate between players and developers. If they want to listen to the corespondent, than they will. As most have noticed, this is not always the case...
I suggested you switch professions, because belive it or not, this one is working as intended.
Shouldn't it be the devs shooting our messenger?
Seriously, a Corr;s job isonly to filter and communicate our views to the developers. They do not have any control over what the devs do, so please don't blame them. Hell, it's particularly unjustified in this case as the changes people dislike so much went in before Marrow was even made a correspondent, therefore he didn't even have a chance to influence them. Come on people please, no finger pointing, let's just keep talking to the devs to get the changes we need.
Gift.

- Correspondents DO NOT get paid.
- Correspondents DO NOT get free subscriptions.
- Correspondents DO NOT get god mode.
What do correspondents get?
- A special forum to report issues. Devs can choose to read posts or not. Correspondents cannot MAKE devs read the posts or make the suggested changes.
- Some additional support (materials and relevant profession skills) for testing on TC-Prime only. Currently, given that all patch testing is done on TC-[servername], this is irrelevant.
- Lots of blame from the players when an unpopular change is implemented.
It's a JOB, not a PERK.

This is a great question and worth taking a real look at.
One way to look at.
Let say you are a master of any fight class. At that point you have a choice of what else to get. Your goal is to be alvl 80 toon so you want to pick up another prof that will help you attain that lvl andadd to you abilities to make you an even more effective fighter. You basically have two choices, pick up another fight class or pick up a healing class (CM or Doc). Lets take a look at these option.
Pick up a second fight class.
If you do this you will gain some other specials maybe a little more defand speed. Thats about it.
Pick up CM or Doc
Here you will addmany new skills. Healing, buffing or debuffing, Dots or cures, etc.
IMO by picking up a healing class you are much more a benifitto your teamby being able to heal them when needed (a quick heal before a DB timercan save a life, for example) than picking up a few more specials. You still get much of the same def bonuses as would be gained in another fight class.
Ask any Jedi who the hardest to kill non-Jedi are and they will always tell you a CM or a Doc no question about it.
