I know its a couple months away and all, but I dont ever remember seeing anything about the effects of buff packs and the rebalance.

Does anyone have any idea what is going to happen? Or is it await and see situation?

Unfortunately, nothing has been said about buffs regarding the Combat Rebalance, so we will have to wait and see.

I'm surprised that this hasn't come up before at FanFest or anywhere else.

To be honest with you, I both loathe and enjoy buffs and it would be interested to see how they are affected with the changes.

in all honesty, i hope buffs get nerfed a LITTLE bit. i mean, 2500-3000 per H and A pool for3 hours?

someone in radiant was giving them out free to people on their first combat profession. i'm a master doc, but i started working on brawler (mmm... smuggler...). fully buffed at ~2200 per pool, i could stand in the middle of 9 slice hounds (red con) and never saw a sliver of white on my health or action bars. tossed on a few Brandy's and made a macro do just stand up every 5 seconds (they have that annoying posture-down attack). left, came back 20 mins later at +10,000 unarmed exp.

well, if they don't fix (as in a dog) doctor buffs, they could at LEAST make food and spice better. food should last an hour minimum, spice should last 10 to 15 mins and be just a TON better than doc buffs or food, since there's that nasty after-effect.

does anyone else think the buffs are a BIT too powerful?

Ok a number of things here...

many people have said the doc buff, which is now static as we all know (bare in mind this will make combatbalance calculations easier)may need to be addressed/reduced balanced whatever the flowery term you want to call it.

The common argument is I stand in the middle of 6 rancors and go afk while spamming away with Unarmerd hit 3 or some other special they do me no damage whatsoever this is due to the doc buff. May I first say what absolute crap! Try getting a doc buff 2500 all stats and wear no armour then see how good a doc buff is. Then dont get a doc buff and then stand there with armour on and take some small foods you can then see where the problem lies. What the doc buffs do do which I dont much like is allow virtually cost free spamming of specials. Changes in the new HAM system are to place more emphasis on the mind pool for special costs and not so much on the DOC Bars. Now indeed Doc Buffs are truly beneficial and are a must to have for most adventuring, but before blazen statements of I can solo all of dathomir due to a 2.5k doc buff, just think about the 80% armour you are wearing!

Try soloing4 rancors with no armour and just Doc buffs, then let me know how you got on and how many stimpacks you used

I took 4 ns rangers the other day, no buffs. Just some brandy and some stim packs. Couldn't even get 1/2 my armor on. Piece of cake. As a TKM you must learn the power of intimidation and states. I do agree that buffs help allow spamming of specials and are far too strong. The new system will utilize a specials bar, to eliminate spamming. Armor is being reduced and capped at 60%, and the different armors will be useful again, composite will not dominate. Buffs will be reduced causing the buffed player to remain *gasp* vulnerable. We will still need buffs, armor and food. They just finally be at a believable level.

Heaven forbid people have to use strategies to win in combat. *Sigh and roll eyes* lol. This rebalance will be good for everyone.

Well to answer the 4 rancor question,I run rancor missions all the time and I never wear armor.

The problem however is NOT the doc buffs, it is the much needed combat balance. The Doc buff gives you the extra edge you need to survive out on the hunt. If the rancor and other creatureswere actually doing the damagethey should and the armor was within a reasonable protection range then the Doctor buffs would fall right in line and not seem over powered.

Remember nerfing another profession will only cause nerfs to other professions.

I killed 8 Solo took 0 damage had on no armor, and only brandy for a buff.

It's called conceal shot

but seriously I can take on 4 easily as master rifle and kill them all before they get near me.

From TH...

Doctor

Are there any details about how buffs will be effected in the upcoming combat balance?

The only details available at this point are that we are going to look at all the numbers. The types of things that will change is that multi-thousand point HAM buffs will not be available. Over time, as various combat variables have increased in scale such as armor resistances, weapon efficiencies, equipment slices, buffs have also been pushed beyond balanced limits by exceptionally smart players. As this information works its way through the community, it tilts all the numbers to an extreme imbalance. During the combat balance, we will look at these numbers and also post focus threads on any proposed changes. One thing to remember though is that the HAM revamp is going to change the dynamics of combat so it makes comparing old system and new system numbers difficult to realize in terms of raw game play.

I solo the heck out of rancors as a tkm/ master swordsman/ master pikeman and wear no armor. But i don't think buffs would help much if the rancors could actually pick me up and throw me into their mouth and crunch down on me like they are supposed to be able to do.

eogo has it right...nerfing one profession only brings nerfs to another. Jedi's always win the nerf battle and BH's...well I'm sorry about the BH's
