Thread: New MD First evenings experience

I have been a Doc 4/4/4/1 for a few weeks now (Ididn't like grindingcrafting LOL!!). Since hitting that level I have been buffing and doing the normal doc things. In a normal evening I'd probably get a couple of tells about being buffed or rezzing, nothing heavy.

Anyway, I decided on Friday it was time to get Master Doc. I had the APP so I had no excuse. I spent Friday night finishing the crafting grind and training as master. YEAY!! I logged once I had the training.

So I start playing on Saturday evening and hastily install my Master Doc tag as I'm dead proud of it. I head to Coronet on my way to Dath to join a rancor group with some guildes. I hit Coronet and find tells from 3 people waiting "are you buffing", "Can you buff me", "Where are you, I need a buff". Wow that didn't used to happen. By the time I'd waited the 6 mins for the shuttle another6 people had contacted me (I wasn't bufiing).

On Dath it was a similar experience, only people where a bit more persistent (obviously they didn't want the trip to corellia and back). I stuck to my guns though and insisted it was a hunt only evening. I refused to remove my title though, I'm proud to be a doctor!!

Is this typical for you other MD's out there?

The positive was that my 2k buffs now hit for 2.25k!!!!

Yes we all get this - it can be very annoying.

The only cure is not to wear your MD tag =]

This is the reason I travel through Tyrena Corellia instead of Coronet. It doesn't matter if you've been a Doctor for 10 months or 10 seconds. I also wear my Master Doctor title at all times because I'm proud to be a one, and most people understand that you may not be buffing.

This is typical when you have the Master Doctor tag up. I got at least 3 tells on Yavin late last night for rezzes in the Geo Cave. What apparently doesn't cross their mind is that I could be 5k away and still be found doing a search. If your in it for money then keep your tag up and out in the field you can make some decent credits. I made 40k off of 2 buffs last night. I'm not really in it for money so I leave it up because I earned it. Just get used to ignoring people because you will get tells in some of the most inconveinient times.

Aother easy way to cut down on the tells, is to make your character not serchable when you have your Master Doc Tag up.

And an easy shortcut for this is typing /anon in the command line. Type it again to toggle.

Yes, unfortunatly having the tag up is an advertisment.. I only turn mine off when travelling.. over time people will know you are a doc and will contact you even when it is not up. Not too bad though, since they are usually friends, etc.

I made Master late Sat night, logged right away without changing my tag.

Went to Coronet Sunday, readied myself to change my tag and see what it was like. Changed it, and literally within two seconds had my first buff tells.

I guess the good thing about it is there is never a shortage of money making opportunities...

hey i've been a doc for about 1 week and i love it. new found hobby. i love to buff people. i think its fun but others get bored of it. but one way you can cut down on your tells would be to hit cntrl+p and set your char as AFK then hit cntrl+o to get the options. then in the options change the AFK mesage to "NOT BUFFING" or something like that so people will recieve that msg every time they send you a tell

Jeffn picked up master doc Saturday morning (yay!) and his first thought was "is it wise to put up the master doctor title"?

With one of the fourth tier boxes up he was getting requests for buffs, before hehad wound treatment 2 and could actually deliver, as he elected to concentrate on the speed line to get disease cure because hewas so frustrated when people wandered into the Coronet med facility with vrelt fever, quenker syndrome, or wrix pox and he could do nothing for them but treat the wounds. Now he hands out cures and gets them back on their way.

Jeffn hasn't dared to travel to Coronet or Theed with master doctor up yet. He may soon, and hang out a shingle at the entrance and get in on the buff bandwagon.

I wear my master tag, and if you type /anon and go through the less used starports, you can keep your tells down to a minimum.

I usually have my Master Doctor tag on, unless I'm real busy, then I stick on my Businessman tag..

But, sometimes I do ignore people, even though it makes me feel bad .

Yepp. I had my Master Doc title up for a while and got swarmed with tells about buffs and such. Being the lone doc in an outpost on an adventure planet is like begging for trouble

Since I'm often playing with both my Eclipse chars online at the same time (two PCs) I don't have time to do medical services so I've removed my title now. Much quieter this way.

I created my Doc for myself and mostly for my guild and city. Thats where I use the medical skills. Move to my city if you want part of my medical skills
