I'm curious, is any doctor other than me, planning to get any skills from the Crafting Mastery FS skill set? Is it actually possible for us Doctors to grind it out and what is the most efficient way if we're to grind out the experience needed for the skills.

P.S. I just made Master Doctor recently, so I haven't hit the Crafting Exp cap yet, but can someone also post what the crafting xp cap is? Thanks.

80K - which is why I hear that there are a lot of docs buffing for free at the village, so they don't have to go back and forth converting XP.

Oops - disregard that... I didn't read that as 'crafting xp' My bad.

I think it's 80K, too, but I'm not sure.

Oh its ok, thanks for replying anyway. I'm wondering if its going to be a lot harder for us to do the crafting quests and to grind the crafting exp out for the FS conversion if we do not have artisan (or any elite crafting professions).

What gains would having the FS crafting benefit buffs?

From what I understand (and I hope someone will correct me if I am wrong!) the FS tree will increase your med assembly and med experimentation skills.

I do not know whether they will go over the +125 skill cap, but I have heard that it is not possible to get actual extra experimentation points with the FS crafting tree. (No 14-point docs )

I'd love to hear from someone who's actually opened this branch and tried it what their experiences were.

Actually, the FS skills do not affect experimation points, which means you cannot go above 12 point experiment points. That said, I'm not exactly sure of the other 3 skill trees at the moment, but for FS Experimentation tree, its supposed to raise the rate of Amazing successes for when you craft something. The other skill trees affect critcal failure rate, etc. I'm not sure what affects what right now though.

As I understand it you don't get more experimentation points, but you'll get less criticals and more amazings. Getting two amazings back to back on experimentation is like getting an extra experimentation point.

That being said....I just don't know if I have enough stamina and interest to do this grind. I am turning in my 80k med points every day for 8k FS points, but when I look at how long this will take I have to say it is more than a little disheartening. I'm afraid the bloom is off the rose for me as far as SWG is concerned and I'm starting to look around for another game to call home. I don't consider this xp grind to be an adequate subsitute for content. There is too little challenge in the game, little role for a healer beyond buffbot and I just don't see a twitchy game like JTL beingmy cup of tea. I'll probably try JTL, but I have grave doubts about how much fun it will be for a healer RPer type who doesn't like to PvP.

Im a master Doc and last night my med crafting capped at 44000. either Im bugged or it is NOT 80K. with a conversion of 5 to 1 thats a little over 8000 FS per cap.

basically you will need around 6 million med crafting xp.

this system is so in favor of combat professions it makes me laugh.this is the only crafting FS skill Ill be getting THANK GOD.

I was trying to macro grind ABEC's, but I havent crunched the numbers because Im afraid that when I see how long it will take Ill wind up cancelling my subscription to SWG and stop playing the game. this is especially scary because Ive been playing for a year, I'm hardcore; if I am this discouraged over the "crafting grind blues" the casual gamer will probably just quit when they see how long it will take (or i guess just take all combat related FS skills, which is what the devs seem to want anyway)

i got this same feeling when my third holocron said "to continue your path to enlightenment you must master the horribly boring profession of weaponsmith"

I almost quit then. when I hit WS 3333 i heard about the new "better" system. I happily stopped my grinding and spent the time waiting for pub 10 reclaiming the BH tree I had given up to do WS--now look what we got...not just a GRIND...NOW its the UBER GRIND.

ok I have to stop or I'll be b****ing all day about this system [a year at $15 a month, and quite a few marathon sessions, helping newbies, trying to roleplay, and now Im further from jedi than I ever was before, at least if you look at it from the XP perspective]

I think the cap for medical exp and medical crafting exp is set pretty low. What I plan to do is to gather a huge amount of resources and go sit in the village and craft ABECs non-stop, converting the experience when I'm near the cap or every 25K exp (5K FS Crafting xp) or so just so I don't lose any bit of exp through hitting the cap without knowing. Its going to take a long time but thats what I plan to do right now. So far, I got about 250K resources (of each type) on hand so I might go and try soon.

This might give you an idea

Im a 12 pt doc with about +19 in ASSEMBLY with my crating gear on.

Sat night I spent the better part of 4 hours straight trying to make a perfect schematic for my abecs with the best resources available. 23c/18p can be made with perfect experimentation. So after these 4 hours I gave up. I could NOT get (2) amazing sucesses in a row for the life of me. I use a 45 station, 15 tool, research center, food, the works. It just wasnt happeneing.

A fellow doc I know used his free unlocks to get some of these crafting lines. I asked him for some assistance. He informed me he had just made (10) of these exact same schematics using the same resources for a different doc just earlier in the day. He agreed to help make the schem for me. It took him a whole (2) tries to get a perfect 23c/18p schematic.

Do I wish I would have used my free unlocks on this stuff.. Damn right I do.

Thats nice to know, although reading the info from the artisan forum, I'm thinking I want to cry from the special resources needed. Phase One's quest materials will take a while, but isn't that bad, getting those special resources that drop off the Siths and needing them in groups of 10 and 20s (meaning they must stack?) seems impossible.
------------------------------Quote------------------------------
Phase II - Village Defences

Ok the last one was easy now its getting harder im going to start with the shopping list first.

Shopping list:

200 (in groups of 10 or 20) Rudic and Endrine Ore also the Energy II component
Talk to Quharek who is now in the North West Part of the map. He sends you to QT-QC a binary lift droid to start get the schematics. Head to the droid, waypoint provided, and ask for the schematics. This is the hard part. On average a combat type will loot about 3 per camp. Sith loot also includes on the rara occassion normal thug loot so out of 5 sith you may get 3-4 ore. Also the sith drop the ore and wind cyrstal required for the next phase. If you are in a guild or have friends that are combat types become close friends with them. If the looted components are allowed to be placed of the bazaar or venders then i sence combat types taking advantage of us in the near future. On TC2 a player wanted 1,400 million for a set of 75 and money is free on TC2. With people like that you will need to become a combat type yourself and hunt peoples sith spawns to get what you need to finish your quest.

You need to make at least 10 turret components each component requires 20 of the looted items to make.

Refined Mineral - Each type requires 20 of the same type Mineral
Reinforced Wall - 10 Rudic, 10 Endrine
small turret - 10 Energy, 5 endrine, 5 rudic (you must make the two subcomponents then those create the turret)
After you finish all 10 you are rewarded with a thank you from the droid and a unlocked branch, congrats.

On a positive note if you fail the componets are not destroyed

Phase III - Shield Generator

Test Center 2 has been erased so i cannot do this quest however this one is just like the one above however you are creating a shield generator which need the wind crystals and the other ore that were not used in the last phase. Talk to Quharek to start this mission.

Haha, I'm famous :-p

Force Experimentation 4/Asssembly 4 + 22 Extra Assembly and master doctor gets you an amazing every 6 rolls or so. Double amazings about every 15-18.

It was 10 perfect (double amazing) ABEC schematics in 22 minutes. I've spent over an hour doing it before force additions for just one. I was using no food or drink, just research center and 15 tool/45 station.

I will add, it makes really no difference on buffpacks. You don't hit amazings enough to have an impact on power/charges. ABEC's and random luck while crafting are what its good for. If you managed to get the amazing on buffpacks, you'd have to make 20 of each pack just to get a schematic.

I've crafted about 400 items since I got force crafting, I have had 3 crit fails and 1 good. Litterally over 1000 greats and probably about 180-220 amazings.

For 8 skill points, I think its worth it to a crafting doctor. But I wouldn't grind millions of crafting xp for it (I got it on holo credit).
