Thread: Any Doc's trying to get a holocron???
Sure you can solo that stuff if you needed to. It just takes patience and a pet. As an MD/MCM you can buff the daylights out of your pet (and yourself just in case you pet looses aggro.) Get something liek a rock beetle that has armoe that will keep it up long enough so you don't have to constantly Ranged Stim it. Then you send it on the attack first. Once it is attacking the target you toss in a health poison then an AoE health poison (at least those two will stack, otherwise poisons do not stack.) Then just ranged heal the pet as needed, firing your weapon as well to help out. When your pet get's low on mind either run up with a pet stim or use a macroto peace, call it, tell it to do a trick, then go back to attacking the target.
If the NPC starts to aggro on you, call your pet and burst out. The pet probably can't keep up, but there's a chance you can get it out of there before it gets incapped, or it may even get aggro again for you, in which case jsut keep at it with the heals and tricks. It just takes a good 20 minutes to take one of those force sensitive MOBs on Dantooine, though.

Requiring a pet is one of the biggest problems I have with this game...
I'm doing pretty well with my hunt - I'm 1-4-2-2 Doctor, and 1-1-1-0 Rifleman. I really hate power gaming, so I build up my skills casually. Just be a part of a big group (that you think can deal more damage than everyone else in the crystal caves), heal, get an early shot in or two.
Let the commandos do the damage work. Make a macro of /loot and right before they die, just click away and keep clicking. I have been looting about 1/3 of the corpses (about 8 people in my group) and have been pretty close. Just be sly about it - after all, that's how docs get their money in the first place.![]()
Well, it's supposed to work that way.... truth be told, though, if yo ahve a declared residence you can call a pet just about anywhere once you get far enough away from your residence (or if you are within 64m of your residence).
Of course msot fo the time you'll be starting out from a town somewhere anyways to go on these hunts. Especially if you are somplace that has a Tavern where you can heal AND wath/listen to entertainers you might be able to sit there to buff your pet AND get a mind buff from a Musician or Dancer is one is around while you are at it. Then you just head out from there on your quest with the pet following dutifully along the way.
You should have no problem running the high end faction missions. Dark Troopers drop them for Rebs, and Surface Marshals drop them for Imps...
Mine told me to master musican...lol. Gonna wait till i get three more, as there is NO way would drop Master Doc.
Master Doc and Master Musican. How could i do anything in game with that combination?
used to be a Doc/CM till i found my holo, now i'm going Doc/TKA. There are really only a few options for us atm... Go to one of the big spawns (force cave, or imp base if you're a rebel) with a big group and ninja loot... Otherwise if you're an imp, get a droid, a non-ch pet, and some faction pets and run 36+ lvl destroy missions to get them off surface marshals. If you're a reb,go do Garm Bel Iblis missions found in the building labeled Capitol in Coronet City (gotta work for his secretary first). On his last mission, you get 2 stormies, 2 Dark Troopers, and a Commando. Kill them, kill them all, let God sort them out, and then loot them
. once you've don that, go back and talk to the corsec agent out front of the capitol. start working for him which will cancel the Garm Bel Iblis mission, and go in to work for Garm again. Rinse. Repeat. I can run these solo as a doc/cm with the poison trick... I just take out the DTs and then burstrun away. its easy when buffed. If you dont have CM, use your faction pets, novice pet, and droid and you shouldnt have too much trouble... Take out the stormies first to eliminate a few guns and its not so bad.
your last option is to group with a ranger and go ranging around northwest dant looking for the NPCs using areatrack.
I got mine in a group with my guild at the FS cave. Now i'm off to master TKA and then find a bunch more myself from DTs before I master any other professions...
hey wildwildman, so I have to goto the imp prison on dath, take 5 of these Mozo/Delic missions, destroy the wp for the last one that spawns the DJM so I can do it repeatedly??
Just a bit confused, so I take 2 of these at a time? Do I do those missions or just abort them? And on the 5th one when do you destroy the wp? If you destroy the wp right when you get the mission how do you find him then?
For faction missions I might just take one or two friends and get lot's of pets between us all, buff everything that can be buffed, heal pets and friends as they take dmg, and then use health singles, health areas, and health shot to stack some health DoT's on him.
The issue about crafters and other non-combat professions getting holos was mentioned on a chat session with the devs and I'm happy about that. I pray not, but fear that this'll be one of those things that won't be fixed for a long time sorta like how the commando fix was. My only reason for believing this is that the majority of people who are trying to get a holocron (if everyone isn't) are not a crafting or other non-combat profession/.
Best of luck to those trying to get holos and are in a similar situation to my own.
