Thread: Has buffing changed or am I just stupid?

I have been buffing for as long as buffs have been around, but I admit it has been a LONG time since I have spent any time in an NPC city. Whenever I am in a player city I will pull out my droid in a cantina and buff or heal people while they are healing their mind wounds.
So last night, during a few bored moments, I decided to head into the Theed cantina and play the altruistic Doctor who gives free Quickness and Stamina buffs to every entertainer. My droid was with me and followed me in, however, when I tried to buff or heal anyone it gave me the 'must me in a camp or medical center' message. Recharged the droid (just in case) but no show. I was able to get someone to follow me out the door and I was able to heal and buff them no problem.
So has it always been this way? Is it only player cantina's that allow us to buff and healb peoplein them?
It seems a little silly that we can buff people in a starport or at the side of a road but can not heal them in a bar.

To the best of my knowledge it has always been this way. I know I have never been able to heal wounds in a NPC town cantina (I've been playing since release) and once I was able to buff I never could. I once thought it was because my droid battery was low, but that is not the case you just can't. You can walk right out the front door and do it, but not inside. I think that is there way of having cantinas only serve the purpose they were meant for and so people wouldn't just sit and lag up a cantina spamming buffs and yelling for buffs.

As far as I know you have never been able to use your med droid inside a city cantina, to heal wounds or buff. Thats the point, yes you can buff in the starport etc but you have your droid there, without your droid you would be unable to buff/heal. It just happens that med droids are inactive while inside an npc cantina.

Nope, as SumDuud says it's not possible to buff in a non-player city cantina. The best way is just to tell the entertainers they get free buffs if they go outside for a little while... after all the ones AFK-entertaining likely have macros set on rest and wouldn't profit from buffs.

You can't heal wounds (=buff) in a -cantina- (you can heal damage), and med droids don't work there either.
You can heal wounds (=buff) in a -tavern- though, and some places like Anchorhead and Mos Taike have taverns, not cantinas.
Not sure if a player cantina counts as a tavern actually, since I'm pretty sure a tavern will slowly heal wounds just from sitting around (just like a med center...actually Mos Taike has a med center in the basement), but a player cantina won't.

Believe it or not, I was able to buff entertainers in the cantina on dant mining outpost. Perhaps not all cantinas are equal?

Nor can you heal wounds/buff in a Hotel.
It's basicaly to prevent combo buildings where, everything would just be done in one room, mind and wound healing...
ie. everyone would all be in the cantina and NOT the hospital or vice verse.

The Anchorehead cantina is the only cantina that I can think of that you can heal/buff in. You just can pull your droid but once you have it out your good to go. I belive it is becuase there is a med center in the same building.

Combined cantina/med center is a tavern. There is one at AH, another at Mos Taike, and as was mentioned above, one at Dantooine Mining.
There are a few others too, but I'm just drawing a blank on which ones.

I just stand at the very edge of the door and as long as they are not too far inside and I have line of sight I can hit them from there. Usually about 5 meters and since everyone james at the very entrance there are plenty of peeps in range.

Dant mining outpost is a cantina/medical center so you can buff and heal i do it when i get tired of looking at the rain.

i get most of the entertainers to stay around the door or in the front area, i can buff most of em that way by standing in the door frame
