Once, a long long time ago (last August or September), you could heal in non-player cantinas with a droid.

However, soon the cantinas got over-crowded, and the med centers became deserted. So, the devs chose to make it so you couldn't use your droid in the cantinas (of course, this didn't stop us from just walking out the door, and healing right there).
