Thread: Dependence on Doctors has gotten too out of hand.

I don't even know where to begin, save that I'm pretty damned outraged right now. I go to coronet to get some docs buffs. I tip this master doc. I wait. I send a few tells. No response. I type some stuff in spatial. I think maybe, this doc is afk. No... I am proved wrong when this person starts chatting in spatial with another player who is trying to get his 10k back from this doc. That guy gets told to go away. I don't get my refund. I send another tell. No response. I report said doc. I go stand in line for buffs from a different doc. After sitting there for about 10 mins. That doc tips me 20k and tells me to go ask the other doc to buff me.

I just logged out. I mean what the hell's the point. You gotta spend near half an hour just to get set up enough to do missions.

The game is set up so that we are forced to buff.

PvE is too tough without buffs. And we get the message that grouping makes it all good. but there is no benefit to group, other than getting a headache from all of the noobs shooting at the wrong stuff and everyone yelling and screaming while lag rips the group apart.

We need buffs to level our characters at a sensible pace, not fighting beetles and low level thugs for 4 months to master an elite prof, which currently some new players are suffering through, and what has been done by earlier SWG players.

So, buffs are necessary due to game design.

And don't even get me started on PvP lol..

But isn't a long grind part of the game design?

I leveled and mastered Bounty Hunter over the course of 5 months without a single buff..

Took a long time? Yes.. Worth it? Every last damn minute.. I felt like I really accomplished something..

My opinion is dependence on a fast grind to get to master level as fast as possible has gotten too out of hand..

I know the game is set up so that we have to buff. I think that that is such a bad idea for many reasons.

If the combat rebalance turns out to be a nerf all buffs and professions so that we HAVE to group to lvl up reasonable steadily, not even JTLS will make up for that. This game will suffer because of it.

Think more of the issue is some **edit**headed doc making a bd name for himself and the other docs.

Even though this is just a game, if in a service oriented profession, don't forget about your customer service- give satisfaction to teh customer and they will be back to shop from you!

1 and a half boxes of crafting then I am a master doc, hopefully another doc will put a dent in the long lines.

If you see me in the city, can give 1500 sets of buffs- charging 5k for the service! Usually zero wait lol!

Don't be an **Edit**head particularly in a guild- bad name fro you and your guild!

This is without a doubt my biggest gripe about SWG. They set it up so that it takes forever and a day to master a profession.

I think this game would be alot more fun if the grind to get to master anything wasn't arduous and slow.

Then... many things that are big turn offs to people that don't wanna donate MASSIVE amounts of their lives just to enjoy a video game, will be able to participate in things that are fun and fullfilling in a community sort of way. i.e. The GCW

I mean that's what Star Wars is!!!!

I just think the focus should be more on the GCW, then on the trying to figure out a way to make the agonizingly slow journey up any given profession's skill tree.

As it stands now, progression in any of the classes is just too damn monotonous.

It's a game mechanic that is blatantly designed to stretch out one's subscprition.

Because everytime someone gets frustrated, they think back on all the time it's taken them to progress as far as they've gotten, and don't want to give that up. You look at how close you are to Mastering and so you vow to come back to it after you are alittle less frustrated.

It's just good business sure, but this a game. A good mix of effort/accoplishment and fun/excitement makes for a very enjoyable experience. In this respect I think SWG could use a big tweak.

It's supposed to be an RPG, but all MMOs are a FAR cry,... a FAR cry, from table top RPGs. d20, D&D, ect.

It is amazing, I get tips from people alot when I'm not even buffing. I was sitting in Theed talking to some friends, no droid, no macro butI had forgotten to take my master doctor title down and I start getting tips. I returned the tips but one guy kept tipping back saying he wanted buffs, I would send it back saying I'm not buffing, after 5 trys I kept it. I figure from now on if I'm not advertising tips will be considered donations, I have yet to see a rule that says I have to remove my title to talk to friends in Theed.

Mistake number one. You don't just tip someone and expect a buff. And he was obviously busy in tell hell. I would've kept your money and laughed.

I agree with this when ppl just tip me without me asking its so annying, and some of the time I'm getting so many tells and with spam I don't see the tip

Yep I agree too, docs are not machines that you tip to get a buff...

That being said, whoever said we are forced to get buffs to do anything obviously doesn't know what he is saying. It's very possible to do things without buffs, they just help a lot. But it's not different at all from any other RPG that I have played.

Kelthuzad, that's what you get for being in Coronet no matter what server, everytime I go there I see tons of idiots, competitive doctors and whatnot- Theed and Dantooine mining outpost are the places to be.

And yes I think far too many players rely on buffs no matter what, with my alt I always went without buffs and leveled up marksman and commando unbuffed then I started going buffed when I worked on rifleman after migrating all stats to mind pools.

Personally I'm curious of how the combat revamp will change things considering buffs.

Ok all you jerk offs that are saying " I would have taken your money too"....

The doc I tipped had a macro or kept typing, advertising the strength and length of their buffs.

Besides, what if a newb had of tipped you like that. It's an honest mistake.

Don't piss on the community. Even worse... don't piss on the community, then brag about it like you're all cool or something.

/sarcasm on

It's real "tough" of you to take someone's credits in a VIDEO GAME, or say that you would.

You ever seen the Looking for Group spam in EQ? Because the Devs aren't going to make it any easier for you to run roughshod over the entire game alone than it is right now. More nerf crying will only lead to more crying later.

Since you oozed your way in here, read around a little. The reason it's getting so tough to find and get buffs quickly is because the Doctors are tired of people's crap and we can all make better money doing something else. The Docs who can make packs, usually make thier money doing so, the rest of us use those packs to run missions.

I've already reported two cretins for tipping me for no apparent reason and then cursing me out when I didn't snap-to and start buffing them.

Master Doctors are no different from the other Service Industry Masters. If one even acknowledges your existence you should be grateful and express such to them. If choose not to help you at that time, you should apologize for bothering them. If they do help you, you should shower praise upon them for their efforts, and tip well. There's a big difference between SWG's Service Industry and the real life Service Industry. Real service professionals are paid to put up with your crap, SWG service professional pay money in order to be able to put up with your crap.
