Thread: Buff nerf?

I've heard that nerfing doc buffs is part of the upcoming combat revamp. To be honest, I'm really hoping so, and I would still go doc. But 3k+ secondaries and HAM make everyone invincible for most PvE, and a pain in the butt in PvP, which is boring. I take an enraged rancor lair down in a couple seconds, and can stand amidst their attacks while I fall asleep IRL. I could wake up an hour later and be undamaged!

+500 to each stat would be well worth getting before heading out, especially with composite on! It would be balanced, and with current inflation, you could still charge 10k a set. I would happily pay it. Hell, I tip extra as it is...

Rebalanced is a better word. I think very little will escape the rebalancing. Or you can just say that everything is getting nerfed, and the game will be more fun because of it... but it's up to you how you percieve it.

Lol 500 is a still a bit low 1k max would be good though and hell doesnt matter how low the buffs are if thats as good as they get everyone will still pay the same for them. its not that fact that they are 2500 buffs to your stats that makes them cost 10-12k its the fact that they are damn good buffs.

I really hope they just leave them alone for the most part. They already capped it to where you'll hardly ever see a 2800+ enhancement. The new system (supposedly) will have points for special attacks that which will make the costs for the weapon not matter as much as the management of specials.

If this goes in, plus the damage and armor nerf, I really think buffs will need to be at about the same level to help ease the other nerfs that will hurt the higher end questers. It won't be nearly as much fun in the rancor lair when you only have a 60% resist, can't spam specials, and are doing less damage than you did before.

I just hate the idea of some arbitrary hard cap that basically forces grouping. Honestly that's the point of Corvette, Death Watch, and Geo Caves for certain templates. That (forced grouping) is, in my opinion, what made some other online games I've played a lot less fun. It wasn't so much that you had to group so much as play styles that the community was used to were forever changed and it seemed really really unnatural. Anyone who played diablo 2 and bought the x-pack will get what I'm trying to convey. Long story short less=more for doctors IMO.

If they capped it at 1000. That would still get ppl a 1500+ with normal stats added.

Sorry but having played a Doctor since release I can't agree more that buffs need to be better balanced with in context of the game. I said so nearly a year ago when I started handing them out to other players and before I knew it when I had a horde of "junkies" giving me /t every time I logged on begging for more. I think the idea of a Doctor running around with little to fear because it was rare to find something that could damage him/her fast enough to make a difference is just silly.

Bring on the balance!

Oh yeah the rebalance is going to be a GOOD thing. A lot of people whine about it, but I say oh well. The rebalance publish is going to be the best, most important publish of them all going forward.

I agree the rebalance will be important, and could fix a lot of the problems in game.Iam just concerned about its execution. The publish will bea UGE change to the way we play the game in every profession, and it could easily drive away the majority of the player base if it poorly executed. I really hope the Devs step up for that publish, listen to the players, and don't just push a bad revamp out to meet some arbitrary date.

From what i understand sub stats will effect the regen and cost of specials still. So buffs will still help inregards to special spamming. As for them being to powerful. By themselves you can still be killed pretty easily, however put on your 80% armor and your into god mode.

Do they need to be reduced? Yeah probably and along with armor being brought more into line should make things much more interesting. Im both dreading and looking forward to it. I generally play by myself now and am used to being independent but i also remember in the begining when groups where much more prevelant and giving the choice id go with the way it used to be.

The simple truth is that we will just have to wait and see how the HAM's are changed, how much they reduce armor, and how much they reduce buffs. They are not nerfing buffs. You can call it that if you choose, but that isn't really what is happening. Nerfing is more a reference to an individual change, such as they solely reduce buff power and nothing else. This is a rebalance. Everything will be lowered back to working levels. Buffs will still be needed, but how they actually help a toon's HAM is left to be seen. 3k point buffs will not be needed with the rebalance. That would be out of the acceptable range, which is why they are reducing them.

No worries fellow docs. Let change happen, and adjust to follow it. It will be a good thing.

Something just popped into my head...
We're supposedly getting another HAM bar...for specials, correct? Anyone wonder if there will be anyway for us to buff this? Or you suppose it will be like the jedi force bar...? Possibly a food could "buff" it?
