Gotta agree - I don't mind that you HAVE to group for the high-end content (DWB/CC) - IMHO, that's the sacrifice I make for being anti-social.


However, forcing me to group in order to resource hunt (and I ain't talking Kimos and Krayts here - I'm talking giant peko pekos and chokus) would be a game-killer for me. I don't like hunting in groups. I like interacting with other players in a NON-combat setting.

As long as they give us a choice, I'm willing to give up the high-end content. But that's just me, and I know I'm an odd squid

i dont think it will matter at all.

prices should stay the same, etc.

like it has been said here, it is a balance, so buffs need to be balanced too.

Do they need to be reduced? Yeah probably and along with armor being brought more into line should make things much more interesting. Im both dreading and looking forward to it. I generally play by myself now and am used to being independent but i also remember in the begining when groups where much more prevelant and giving the choice id go with the way it used to be.

they are nerfing armor too in case you have not heard and with high ham costs and lower buffs all my armor will be useless

I say, bring it on. We've taken everything they thrown at us directly in the face so far, what's another punch gonna be like? We'll find out when it comes, and if we're still conscious, it might be fun

Bah...All the rebalance is going to do is force people to have to group..No thanks..If i wanted to be forced to group with people to do any thing..Id go play everquest.








I just hate the idea of some arbitrary hard cap that basically forces grouping. Honestly that's the point of Corvette, Death Watch, and Geo Caves for certain templates. That (forced grouping) is, in my opinion, what made some other online games I've played a lot less fun....





It was always my impression that the entire point of MMO's was that at some level you had to depend on a group to do higher level MOBS. The corvette, death watch and geo caves are one thing, but being able to solo things like Rancors seems counter-intuitive to the MOB. High hams and decent armor should indicate a need to be with others.

As for making things less fun...that's up to the individual I guess. I personally don't like the "Solo Group" method being employed by buffed persons to make ridiculous amounts of experience and credits on MOBs that shouldn't be able to be soloed, especially when they complain about the 10k most of us doctors charge for a service returning their investment 20 fold.

Finally found a thread on this.


So...what all you opinion on how foods will be accepted more/less with the combat rebalance if Dr. buffs are 'adjusted'. Or if the whole HAM cost with buffs/armor/ etc etc are affected. Be nice if there was something official posted by the Devs on this subject.... guess they are holding back till Pub 9 is out.

I actually hope they dont change buffs cause of one thought here. armor is getting nerfed as well , with lower buffs and stuff actually hurting u do to armor protection reduction. One word ( OUCH )

O and lets not forget another thing we all will get from my understanding only a certain amount of specials used per combat. no more spaming specials over and over. wont be able to with the new system coming up. I dont see any fun in killing low level mobs when I already enjoy the higher mobs now. How fast will get bored with those times of day when only afkers are around and u feel like wanted to hunt something big besides a lair of lesser bols ?

Personally I don't think buffs need to be nerfed.


A player withoutarmour (buffed or otherwise)will get an absolute kicking off of anything that resembles a janta/rancor/krayt.


The armour nerf is a good idea, it will stop the spammers going to dantooine and soloing janta lairs with the repeated press of a single key and it will encourage good PvE players to think about how to attack a lair of that difficulty. Making solo play impossible is like dictating how people should play the game. When i was installing the game it said it was my story, so I want to be able to shuttle to dant and have a tough fight against a janta, knowing that if I make a mistake my armour and buffs aren't going to save me.


However, if both armour AND buffs get nerfed the mere suggestion of soloing anything bigger than a Kaadu lair is laughable IMO.


Nerf one or the other but not both, give the solo players a chance to enjoy the game.

Ahhh yes been a doc since the beginning and remember not haveing the huge buffs to give out and I was actually needed on the battle feild. Now with buffs i am never even really needed on raids becuase everyone solos now. I personally think that buff should be capped at the rateing of the pack itslef + enhancements.


For example if you had bio clothing on that gave you + 50 and your buff packs were rated 900 then you would buff for 950 but that si jsut my sugestion. Guese ill wait and see wht happens after teh patches

I think one of the problems we are all having in grasping this rebalance issue, is that we keep evaluating the changes as to how they will affect the system the way it works now. That won't really be the case though. Everyone is worried that they are nerfing buffs/armor/ham to the point that they will be useless. They are changing the entire combat structure though. They are making it harder and easier at the same time.
Hear me out on this:

Harder- higher end mobs will require groups. Soloing Krayts Albatross Peko Peko, was never intended. Lower end mobs will become harder as well.(we are very spoiled due to overly high buffs/armor resists) Combat will require a strategy. No more spamming specials at will. Lesser mobs will be solo-able, but they will make you work for it.

Easier- the various types of armor will again have a purpose. This will stimulate the economy. With this new system mind will not be a factor so to speak in combat. PvP now = battle of the mind pools. When is the last time you got killed in PvP because your health bar ran out? The new system will make PvP enjoyable again.

Personally I look forward to the changes. After all it is just a game. We won't die if it gets hard. If it were no challenge, what would be the point? The dev's are just taking out our cheat codes. Now we get to play the real game soon.
