Thread: congrads swg if this goes live

Apparently they wanted to seperate crafting and combat professions with the CU, maybe its easier for them to balance, and because of the great healing abilities during combat (state cures / rezzes) docs are considered a combat profession.
With this, I am a little nerfed because I took doc for crafting _and_ fighting, but everybody who is only using master doc for the crafting side can just re-allocate the skill points to the BE crafting line(s) then. In fact, it will free up 19 skill points (3 lines of medic and master medic less, one line of scout and novice scout more), assuming one is going for master BE.
What I am most worried about is the resources the new schematics will take and the experimentation / assembly skill tapes I have so far (11pt doc suit, 12pt doc suit and 12pt combat medic suit, although I havent started CM crafting yet).
Concerning the resources, it would be a huge kick in the a$$ of all docs if the current doc resources would be de-valued a lot. SOE has no reason to do this, and I trust in the docs in the alpha test that they assure that the new schems (BE and / or medic) will take the old resources, and that avian in particular will be used as a prime resource for the item that will be most in demand. If this is not the case, I will strongly consider quitting SWG since I have most of my earnings in this game tied up in doc resources.
Concerning the experimentation tapes, my guess is that medical tapes will still be used in the Medic crafting line, so docs will be degraded from 12pt doc to 7pt medic. Unless they put the full +100 med exp skill in the medic tree, as it is with all other crafting professions (BE has +100 from novice till master, so has artisan, AS, WS and whatnot).
The only thing I am concerned about is the current CM tapes. There will be no CM crafting in the future, and I strongly hope that BE medical crafting tapes will be introduced (yes, BE _medical_ crafting tapes, because otherwise existing BEs will get angry a lot according to their forums), and that CM tapes will be converted into those.
So in conclusion, I am worried about the resources but dont see any reason for SOE to nerf us there, and I am worried about CM tapes, which I got cheap anyway (400k / point on average). What most disturbs me is that I will have to choose between the combat healer (doc with medic x44x probably) or the medical crafter role (BE with medic xxx4, scout xx4x probably) and cant do both anymore while keeping master rifles.
Long post, but in essence: Lets wait and see and kick our testers butts if they screw up.

Geeez, Scylla economy has a lot of inflation, i guess - on Ahazi the same would go for around 750k at most.

I'm pretty sure he means a factory crate of five, not a five use pack. That's a little high for the Valcyn server at least for the two crafting docs I have bought from. There are a couple with the reputation of being the best on the server, and I am not impressed with their quality or price. That can be attributed to lesser quality resource spawns though, or higher prices for avian. I don't know, I didn't ask, as I found suppliers who could regularly turn out 900+ matching sets (all stats match, all durations same). I also got a considerable discount from my major source, which is why my price for buffs was regularly lower than the average. At least after I mastered, there are still those that will just tip more without asking.
As far as making me leave the game, it won't happen for me. I am looking forward to two games though, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, and Middle-Earth Online which has been pushed back to a 2006 release. I can assure you this, if either of those games blows SWG out of the water in mechanics, story, and customer service I will likely slowly leave SWG. But a massive change in the doctor profession will not chase me away. I will be very upset if there is no compensation fo rexisting ehance packs if they are not used before the CURB goes live. I am more than willing to give the changes a chance, but like many others, I have quite a bit of money reinvested in stock which will be lost if there is no conversion. Nothing I can do about it but b!tch and moan, or quit in disgust. I will take Option A for now.

yea our economy has been hurt since the first exploit money duping that went unchecked for a month.
Buy your buff sets from me then...
I'm selling 10 sets P950 for 2m. I don't think any doc on Scylla could sell anything if they'd price 5 sets P900+ for 2m... That price was true before the resource kits got introduced - not all docs sold for inflated prices though and definitely not now.
And yeah, I have to agree with the original poster. I am very close to quit if my fears come true. I've chosen Doc because it gave me the ability to craft and support myself in battle. If I chose to continue to craft and go BE I can basicly give up my combat skills because it wouldn't matter after all... also my combat class needs more skill points after the CU. Not good.
They should open the second character slot for everyone, not only for Jedi's. This might convince me to stay even if they would seperate crafting doc and the supporting doc role.
