TKM seems to be favourite ATM - I've seen some impressive piles of Enraged Rancor corpses around TK's (although I smell a nerf coming).

I'd go for a melee class over a ranged because of:

1.) Melee Defence adds when fighting creatures.

2.) If you ever do group you'll be in close to others to heal the tank (or tank yourself)

Master Doc/Master TKA

hands down my favorite combo. Ever fight a group of pissed off Night sisters and the Night sister elder? i've used Center of being and continuassly and lasted 10 minutes against her and killed all her little cronies solo.

Fun stuff mate. Being able to heal any state on the fly makes it the ultimate compliment for a melee class. The one major disadvantage to TK is we only attack Melee. So no hope of droppoing that NS elder. Swordman would be another good one IMO. But for PVE melee support Pikeman. One of the most underated professions you may not be able to own much in PVP but in PVE as a Master Doc you can solo almost anything too.

Swordsman have the powerhammer for blast damage nice weapon. Lots of things are vulnerable to blast.

Pikeman - electrical damage.

the only other thing is racial bonuses if you are trandoshan then it is no contest your first best destiny is a master TKA/Master Doc.

Already have been nerfed.

Carbiner will get the next nerf i would gather they just beefed them way up, or rifleman. There is nothing in this game a Master Rifleman can not kill.

TKM's are far from the only profession that can solo rancors. For that matter every combat profession in the game can solo a rancor from what I've seen. Except ranged don't tend to leave piles around them, instead dead corpses laid out along the line the ranged user kited it on

Not sure how a rifleman can defeat it.

If they can I would really like to know how.

Also the rifle dropped by one of the tuskens is kinetic. Though I certainly didn't like my time as a rifleman as it relies way too much on killing the thing before it spots you. Master heavy swordsman master Doc was going to be my final template but as there's so many of them around I'm re-thinking it.

I'm going for Doctor / Rifleman. So far it's been good.

I'm actually a doc/pistoleer.

Its been a blast so far.

Pistoleer gives me the ability to get in close and still do damage, pointblank in close and normal specials out farther.

While healing the group melee types I can keep a steady stream of damage while not being crippled by huge pointblank minuses. At medium range Im still able to do constant damage, albeit less than a carb but my specials take way less HAM (when I get the time to use em).

I'm not 100% sure that pistols are the right wep for a doc though. I dont have the time to keep spamming specials and healing folks so I wonder if it would be better to just go Carbineer instead. The only draw back to that though is the big minuses I'd get when I go in close to heal the melee types. This may be balanced by a greater overall damage though Im not sure.

I also really like the defense bonuses a pistoleer gets, every point of damage I avoid myself means that I have more to offer to my group.

I have to take it for granted that specials and the like will be fixed in the future so I dont let broken specials guide my choice too much.

Having said all of this what do the other docs think.. Am I wasting my time with pistols, should I instead concentrate on carbineer? I like both weapons but have only done pistols in the elite profession tree.

It depends if you solo a lot or group. If you group, I wouldn't choose melee, as you can't heal and deal damage at the same time, if you solo, I would go TKA like everyone hehe.

jawa ion is stun damage

doc is pretty essential if you're a melee profession.

I did doc-carbineer for a while. It was pretty fun, but pvp damage output vs mit 3 buffs and armor really limits you to applying states so others can do the killing. If you like the supporting role, then its a great combo. stun, dizzy, blind, kd them while healing/rezzing your side is a pretty good combo. At the moment, i'm MHS/Doc and the damage output in pve is amazing. Get some good ubese, buff yourself, and pull out the sister smasher when you head to dath and you'll have a lot of fun.
