Thread: NO tip because you get xp
I'm sorry but I must point this out as so many people still seem to just not get it. This also applies to you master doctors who think that you should now charge because you don't need xp anymore. Exactly what makes anyone think that just because a medic/doctor gets xp from something he shouldn't also be tipped? This is absolute stupidity. I almost didn't believe people really said **edit** like this until I saw it for myself. I can't imagine that people would actually think that you should have to BUY your own xp in such a manner. Medics and doctors alike I beg of you to START CHARGINGEVERYONE. There is no reason why anyone whether novice medic or master doctor shouldn't be paid for their service and this tip BS has got to go.
When fighters take destroy missions, they get xp AND they get paid.
When Scouts harvest hides from animals and get xp, they take those hides and sell them for money
When artisans get crafting xp from making a gun or armor, they take those and sell them for money
Every single profession in this game has skills that enhance the game for others, yet medics are getting the short end of the stick. Morons out there actually believe that just because a medic gets experience from healing, he shouldn't be paid. The stimpacks used by medics are expensive people. Imagine if you walk in with 800 wounds how long it would take w/o a medic healing you? An hour? maybe two? It takes 10 minutes to do a 3000c destroy mission that can easily more than pay for the time you saved by having a medic heal you. So why do you complain about paying medics so much?
I personally will not rest until I see every medic on every server charging upfront fees for their services. Some medics say that they don't charge because they like to help players and like to heal them. Well I personally like to do my bounty hunter missions. I like to give murderes swift punishment for their crimes but I still need to be paid (ok I'm lying I hate bh missions, but thats for other reasons lol). Bottom line is the medics save you much more time than 1000 or even 1500c is worth. If a medic saves you half an hour of waiting to heal naturally how many destroys can you do in half an hour? How much cash can you generate in half an hour? Yet you tip him a crappy 500? Thats pathetic and I really can't wait till the medics start charging and soon I think they will.
So whether you are a master doctor or novice medic please remember you deserve to get paid and make a profit too. Doctors are supposed to be rich, not beggars. Stop relying on crappy tips from jerk players and make them pay or wait. You will find if you all band together that players will gladly pay for your service and after a week or so they will not complain about it but rather it will become routine and they will happily accept it.
Also I'd like to mention that this same principle applies to entertainers, the only difference is its much harder to enforce. Maybe if they would allow bands to buy their own cantinas and charge a cover to get in the door or something to this effect. Hopefully in the future something like this will come about but until doctors wise up and start charging I do hope players will stop being so **edit** cheap and pay what the medics are worth. Just remember, if they can buy their supplies not only will this enhance the economy (more demand means prices increase and scouts can be better paid for their hides and bones) but also they will have to spend less time surveying for stuff and can be more avaiable to heal your wounds. For those wondering no I'm not a medic, just sick of watching them get the short end of the stick

Yay!!
I don;t expect huge tips, and I don't curse when someone doesn't tip, but there is a huge inequality in the amount people give at the moment.
I only ever go into a med centre when I have wounds of my own to heal, and i always spend 30 minutes or so healing other people up when I am there. The reason I don't spend more time in there is because it is unsustainable. you will end up out of cash, outof woundpacks and out of patience. Especially with so many people clamouring for your attention, and then cursing you when you take 30 minutes to go run a few missions to get the cash to buy the resources to craft the meds to healtheirwounds! I have been tipped 1000 creds for healing 200 or so wounds and I have been tipped 50 credits for healing over 1000. Guess who gets seen first next time?

Farcaster,
You owe me a new keyboard... mine has soda all over it.

Since the other player consented to a duel, I find this pretty funny. I'm not in it for the cash, but to announce that you will tip for premium service and then offer that amount is beyond insult. Unfortunately, tips are still so rare that I am genuinely surprised whenever I receive one.
I have wondered, and at times asked others, if it would be inappropriate for me to shoot a patient.
Lack of a tip did not make me consider this. It was the obnoxious behavior of some people that made it hard to remember the oath. Maybe I should put some more points into the pistol skill. ![]()
Since I can make better woundpacks now, I can get people fixed up a lot faster. Not looking to profit from this, but it would be nice to just break even healing other people. They'd be paying for sheer speed and convenience.
Frankly, I wouldn't worry about this as much if the **edit** resources didn't shift so often. Running harvesters on Lok and Dantooine is a pain, not to mention expensive to check on. I'd like to leave the harvesters alone for a good week, but who wants to pay that much maintenance and power and find out the resources shifted a day after you paid?
First, this isn't about money. If I want money, I can run destroy missions that will pay out ten times more than I could ever get charging people for healing. This is how I have a factory, a medium house, medium harvesters, and whatever else I want to buy. I already sell high quality Stim B's for a great price, but I don't really want to spend all my time manufacturing, so I don't advertise.
For tips and resource donations, you depend on the people around you. I've spent very little time in the medical centers, ever since the early stages of novice medic. You know what, though? That's where I GOT the most tips. Now, I spend the vast majority of my time outside of cities.
Every so often, while I'm training my weapon skills, I run into some generous people who tip 500 for a single full health heal(granted, saving some of them from death). I get a "thx" about half the time from people that I heal on the go. Other people just aren't that reliable, imo. I brought up maybe 20-30 people from incapacitation yesterday from Tuskens, used several hundred charges worth of stims; I actually don't expect/need tips for stimpack healing, as the exp is incredible, but I didn't even get a group invite.
So why do I want to charge for wound healing in particular, if I have the means to make money? Maybe I'm just weird, but I consider what I'm doing a service. If I'm out there fighting, I have to stop whatever I'm doing, set up camp, and heal the wounds of multiple people. I trek out to where few other medics venture(Lok, Dantooine, Wayfar), I heal wounds and damage fast, but in return, I depend solely on what is, thus far, the lacking generosity of others.
Like I said, I'm not trying to profit from this, but I'd like some balance here. Also I couldn't care less if people take novice medic. I encourage it, as they will bother me less. They can also buy my stim b's if they have novice medic.
You know,I have to admit that last post made me realize that normally if I am in the Med Center i don't expect tips at all, just a thank you would be nice.
But if I'm on someplace like Dantooine or Lok and somebody /tells if i can heal them (because they did a search and I happen to be the only Doc/Medic-titled player int the search area) I pretty much expect to get paid fo that healing. Especially on Lok were a crafting station is not available. I KNOW these guys are taking destroy missins that payout 3-times as much as the ones on the planets they probably came from so if they want to take this kind of risk, and want ME to take tht kindof risk, that's one situation where I don't see how it can be construed as innappropriate to expect some compensation. That's BIG XP and BIG Creds out there for these guys and my getting them back into the field that quick is saving them a TON of time.
Just my perspective on it, though.
I had to laugh at the fellow who sauntered intomy Medcenter with completely black Health and Action bars and announced, "I'll tip for quick healing!"
Being a near Master Doc, I love these patients. Great XP, efficient use of my Medpack C's, and the potential for a great tip. The guy was wearing Chitin armor, so I knew he had cash.
Imagine my surprise when he actually tips me 13c and says, "Well, that only took you a few minutes, so I pay what your time is worth..."
Needless to say, I returned his tip, challenged him to a duel and killed him, as I kept Stimming myself as I used my Pistoleer skills and my trusty Iduno special Scout Blaster to "off" him. I didn't agree to follow the Hippocratic Oath...
Ekatha Jes, Coronet, Corellia, Intrepid.
put in NPC Docs that charge 5-10credits per wound healing at the speed a wound B would.
/nuff said.
