Thread: What in God's Name?
Maybe he got some crates of buffs for free and felt like blowing them out of his inventory. Maybe he's quitting Doctor and just wanted to hurry up and use up what he had. Who knows. If it is that important, you should have asked him.
He's prolly grinding med xp for combat medic.
Songe,
So becuase of your play style you are suggesting that I should adjust my play style??? I don't see your logic.
My play style has resulted in my being able to do what a darn well feel like doing when it comes to buffs. I have lots of cash, resouces, etc. I worked my butt off getting to this point. If it makes me feel good to do something in this game I will do it. It is that simple.
You PvP or what ever because you enjoy it. If I used your logic then I would tell you to stop PvPing and go do missions for money. However, I don't tell you how to play your game.
Also, as I stated, there were no other docs around so I did not impact any. If they showed up later and gave up on the idea of buffing for cash due to me then am I to blame?
Also, I have given buff packs to docs many times as well.
I don't give stuff for free so often that I impact the economy. I am not that rich. However, I have found that giving things away is a good tool to get customers. For example, I have a friend that gives stims away on his vendor to get people to come in to his shop. He sells more stims than anyone I know.
Giving things away gives you name brand recognition in RL and in the game. As people get to know and like you they will seek you out and give you things back or pay extra.

Good for you. Unfortunately, lots of people don't really care if it bothers others when they do what makes them feel good. Ever got a neighbor having parties until 3am during the week? I have.

I'm not doing unfair competition when I PvP. You do when you give away buffs or sell them for too cheap.

IMO you are. People get used to getting things for free or cheap then blame people who use a more standard pricing for overpricing.

In my experience so far when you start giving away stuff most people just come back to you in the hope of gettingmore stuff for free, of course maybe I have just been pretty unlucky, and fortunately I have met a few people who are not that way.
Someone selling 2k buffs suck, but the law of demand and long lines should automatically push people over to a more expensive doc buffing at the same place provided it is busy enough...
Pay 2k and wait for 20 mins, or 10k and get them now.. I'd take the latter
So in short, I figure that I start the shouts.. if the buffs sell awsome... and if they dont, I buff myself and go run missions. There's more in SWG then buff lines... and before anyone says anything, I'm a broke doc - under 500k in the bank.. never had more then that (in part because I buff twi'lek women for free and offer discounts to entertainers - or even free action buffs for the ones showing their titles -- RP reasons).
But on topic: yeah 2k is umm.. REALLY low lol... but hey more power to 'em... supply and demand.. and there's more then one thing to do with the game and more then one way to make cashflow.

You're comparing somebody handing out free buffs when there are no other doctors around to someone having a loud party until 3 am? I fail to see thesimilarity unless it's just that they are both things that annoy you, which is hardly a compelling analogy.
Its true that people who get buffs cheaply may begin to expect that price if they get it frequently enough. Its also true that you are free not to sell at that price. Set your price, sell at that price and leave it to the buyer to make the decision as to whether it is a fair deal. That is the beauty of a free economy, you are not forced to sell at a price you feel is unfair and the consumer base is not required to buy from you of they feel they can get a better deal elsewhere. Vivafree market economies!
What you are proposing is that my prices be set to what you feel is appropriate for you. I'm sorry but it just doesn't work that way. If I can develop a more efficient supply chain that allows me to maintain my level of comfort and still be able to set my price lower than yours then, from a business perspective, you are doomed unless you can convince the market that your product is worth more than mine. Set up a shop named "Buffs by Gucci" or some other idiocy but don't start whining that someone elses hard work has placed them in a better position than you.
Just remember, the next time you get that good deal on avian meat that, somewhere, your Ranger soulmate is crying that his children are going hungry because somebody is selling meat for less than 100 cpu.
