Hello everyone. I have been grinding Doc for a while and just thought about something. How does this profession get money? Ive read that you all make little no profit from public buffing and you barely make anything on the stims and buff packs you sell. Also, it also seems that in order to be profitable as a Doctor, you have to get your own resources, does anyone out there buy there resources and still up with a profit? Theres really only 2 things I dont like about this game 1: Jedi and 2:Harvesting. I am very excite to join the ranks of Master Doctor, I am currently 0/4/4/0 in doctor hoping to get 4/4/4/0 today. But we can only hope right.

1) Not true. In reallity, we should be making more off of these, but whatever. I was in coronet last night. I had to stop by my shop and pick up a few things. I was on my way to hunt on dath. I was in coronet a total of 4 minutes. In that time I received approximately 15-25 /tells "R u buffing". I didn't, but I had 20 full buffs on me @ 12k each = 240k in 10 min (w havla)

2.) Not true. If you make good quality supplies, people will buy them. Establish a customer base with give-aways and a Grand opening sale or something. Tailor meds to your server needs. Bunch of 90 use docs wanting good buffs?Spend apointto lower med use and make them some. Good stim d's for the master medics and themedic 4's.

Doctors can make a killing. I do suggestmining your own or work out a deal with someone to mine thingsfor you at a set price. After a while you will have the money to buy resources.

I made my cash by selling the stims I made when climbing the crafting part of doc. I harvested all my resources since that is one aspect of the game I like. The stims was low power and so was the price, but for the right price they were sellable.

As for not liking the harvesting part, find someone that does and pay them to take care of your harvesters on your lots. I mean all you need is the WP to the resources and set up the harvester and let the other guy take care of the rest. I bet it wouldn't be a problem if you offered some cash or some percentage of the harvest. Another payment could be 1-2 of your lots to use for the harvester guy. In this case all you need to do is place the harvester, depending on how much you trust the other guy.

Good luck

Check out this thread for a fairly detailed cost analysis of public buffing (that I wrote, a few posts down):

I'ma major retailer of all things medical, so my situation is a bit different than most, but I buy nearly all of my creature resources (herb/avian), and harvest nearly everything else myself.

Buffs as they stand now are FAR FAR FAR FAR too cheap. I never realised just how cheap until i was TKM and running missions on Dant making 600K in one buff session. Yep, cost me 10K to make 600K, that Dr sure got his.

If you want to make money, go run missions. If you run Janta missions sometimes you get the bonus of a good DOT weopon to auction off.

The Janta Missions are right on for the way to go. I ran them on one set of buffs yesterday and got two DOT Knives and four Crystals with my TKM.

I have held for a long time that Docs should charge at least 20K per buff if not more. The only thing that brings that price down is that some people aren't necessarily buffing to go run missions for 3 hours straight. But even getting buffed and just running two Janta missions (50K payoff total) you have already paid for you buff and more and you'll have about 2 1/2 hours or more left on the buff to go do something else.

hell.. a single mission from Theed will pay 10K and pay for the price of your buffs.

Buffs definately need to increase in price.

I tend to make a better income using carbineer on Dantooine and Yavin4, the cost of a crate of 25 on Bivoli is 225K and another 3K for a crate of droid batteries (irrelevant) and I occasionally use halva which is about 125K per crate. I don't get that much back, then I pay maintainance on 4 factories and a hospital and occasionally some harvesters which I haven't put up for a while.

I personally don't think doctor is the ideal money making profession a majority of players think that it is.

I agree that you make much more money hunting and running janta missions. But My point was that it is quite possible to "doc" as a living. Not the most profitable, but still profitable.

Doctors have the potential to make huge amounts of money, it is all a matter of how much time you want to spend making money. Then again every proff in the game has the ability to make huge amounts of money. If your willing to run missions all day any master combat proff can net +1 million per set of buffs currently (probally closer to 2 million if you do it right). Any crafter willing to take the time to get the resources can easily make huge amounts of money, even resource harvesting can net you a huge profit in this game with little or no risk other then running out to the harvestors.

I wouldn't say doctors are better then any other proffession for making money, the big advantage to being a doc is the fact you have so many options as to how to make your money, you can make and sell meds (if you like theharvesting and crafting aspects), you can join a group running missionsand run support (for the adventure types), orby buffing/healing(the sitting around "you come to me" types). Doctors are popular becuase it suits so many different play styles not because of uber money making potential, although if that is what you want to do Doc would suit you too.

made big bucks as a tkm, with one buffs and lots of single solo 30 odd grand missions and the meats goes on sale too which works out very very well .. since mastering doctor, i've not mademuch money and now that i'm starting to make my own buffpacks, all i do is buy buy and buy, resources are killing me. avian meat is non existent and other resources are shifting like turtle's pace. bank balance was down to 558creds that day

I have been tempted to set up a buff house on Dantooine outside the Mining Outpost since thats the big start of alot of the solo groups I have seen. Was looking to be able to break 2k on buffs and charge 12k to 15k depending on the buffs. Still working at master should be by the weekend. Only thing I can think of that would be bad is that people complain about the cost of the buffs. Since on average you can shuttle over to coronet and get 2500 buffs on most days at 10k.

Still thinking that it would be worth it. Will have to buy the buff packs for now till I can get up the resources for my own. Think this would work out as a good start to making credits while at work or sleeping?
