Thread: The Rudeness of Younger Doctors
More and more lately, when I walk into a Medical Center I am greeted with choruses of "Gah, here's a Master Doctor. There goes our exp !" And this is before I even throw the first heal on anyone. Or before I even DECIDE to throw a heal.
Get a grip on yourselves.
Atleast let me DO something wrong in your eyes before you jump on me with both feet.
Every Master Doctor knows that they can heal 100 x faster than you. And I am willing to bet that less than 1% of every MD in this game would walk into a Med Center and heal everyone without taking into account the other medics that are there.
If I see that there are Novice Medics and Doctors in a medical center I ALWAY ask them if its ok to assist in healing before I butt in.
The priceless part is when those same Novice's need training.....
Remember NOT to bite the hand that feeds you. It just might bite back.

In your case I agree with you.
However, whenever I step into a med center, I'm always hounded by patients and begged by lower level medics and doctors for training or help...not that I'm stealing their service, as a level 3 doctor. I have yet to encounter a rude medic or doctor. Now the patients on the other hand...I've grown to be quite rude to those who shout out how they are more important than the patient artisan who sat there for 30 minutes.
And ironically it's the patient artisan who pays you a 2K tip while that noisy **edit** doesn't even thank you.
I care more about the rudeness of the patients than the rudeness of the other doctors/medics. However, it all evens out when you accompany a team of fighters and they feel the ned to hand you their harvest and help you in every way. ^_^

lol ive had that happen a few times and then say ok I'll leave...then the whole med cetner screams
NOOOOOOOOOO elenora come back...lol
I, too, know exactly how you feel.
My character was built in Mos Eisley's clinic in the Starsider galaxy. I put so many hours into there that I developed a name for the clinic, and myself. I had regulars, I chatted with them, and I became a local. So much so that to this day people still look back and tell me how they wish I had never left Tatooine.
But as I became a master doctor, more of the younger doctors would be covertly or overtly irritated that I was present. I needed the medical experience to attain combat medic as well, but so many people were so unhappy.
Now, I've retired from clinical life. I moved to Dantooine, away from all the younger medics and doctors who need the experience. Away from the patients begging me to heal them because I'm the healing equivalent of 40+ novice medics. Most of the time I take off the 'Master Doctor' title, because it's just an invitation for trouble.
But would you believe how much I miss Eisley? So many times I'm tempted to just go back and do what I though was fun, regardless of anyone else. I wish there was a resolution for this, but I suspect there isn't.
In a way, it's sad making Master Doctor. From that point onward, you're effectively retired from using your phenominal healing powers because others need the experience. I truly wish medics shared experience in a group like entertainers do.
Your colleague and someone who understands,
Mura,
I get that a lot too. Of all my titles, I generally wear the Chem Warfare one or Medical Professor (though I generally let Dr. Egama Veasar keep that one). I get lots of questions about my title, but occasionally one person will recognize me and then it's all over.
I swear, I might as well just walk around with the blinking neon "Love me/Hate me" sign on my head. If they ever introduce player bounties, I suspect I'll be a walking inferno. Then again, I hear that Dr. Moon is rapidly working to take the priviledge from me. ![]()
I used to frequentthe Tyrena Hospital on Chilastra, for the firstfew weeks that was the only place you could find me. I enjoyed my time there and enjoyed the interactions. Helping out other medics/docs, healing patients, chit-chat. It was great. Butonce I hit Doc I knew my time was up. I left the med-centerfor the xp of the group and never looked back.
I still occassionally drop into the hospital in Ty, but rarely stay longer then the time needed to drop a few C-Heals on folks. But not once have I ever had anyone, fellow healers or patients, be rude to me at that hospital. Guess I just lucked out ![]()
As for the Title...yeah...I've stopped using mine as well. I had master artisan for while so I used that title instead, now I'm just using engineer or novice gunslinger... never get a /tell with those titles ![]()
Well, I shouldn't say I never put the title on...
okay, I'll tell y'all a dirty little secret, but you have to swear you'll never tell a soul.
Promise? Okay...
Sometimes, when it's really late a night, I do a quick /who on Dantooine. If I see less then ten people, then I sneak into the far back closet in my house, make sure no one's there, and then I do it.
I put my 'Master Doctor' title on.
I know, I shouldn't... I feel so dangerous when I put it on! It looks so good, and I worked so hard for it.
You know what the worst part it? I'll always get a tell. Never fails. *hangs head*
Lol Zesh. It really is a curse to have that title... but it does look nice.
I keep mine up pretty much all the time so I can get ooohh'd and ahhh'd at. But all that seems to happen is /tell blood'drive You just passed me, can you heal me? and the durn group window popping up saying "Do you want to join BustedUpScout's group?
Like sands through the hourglass....
-BD
*grin*
I wear Medical Professor for that same reason.
The latest joke - folks and revive. If I die in my group my usual message is "If you die before I return - please go clone." So instead of /group they /tell me ... Can I wait til you get here? NO! I had to run - you can run, too. Sheesh! They want me alive to do rezzes but often wander away from me while I am helping incaps - which often means the next spawn takes me down.
Along with the /shout MEDIC! .... Do you think I can't see your ham bars? I will get to you when I get to you. If you hadn't run off ....
And "No, I am not healing that last 10 hp wounds. I already did the first 200."
And lastly ... I would have gotten more xp if you had healed me sooner from incap. Well ... if you had stayed close within my range it might have happened. BTW - see this gun? I'm trying to get some xp, too
Soon we will get xp from healing within the group - but until that time comes .. I want some TOO.
Am I being mean spirited? I don't think so. Usually I'm laughing at the tells I receive.
