Thread: Opinions on Line Cuts for Extra Cash?

Lol, I just saw a MD ask for 15k for buffs (nothing I haven't seen before) but then stated that line cuts are 50k. This is new. I haven't seen a doc state that he would let someone cut for extra cash before. I've had a bunch of peeps offer more money but I have always told them to wait their turn.

Curious to see if this will be a new trend in the buff line

I think it's a great idea. It allows for those in a rush to get by faster and gives the doc extra money.

I think it's great. Good for the doc and good for the VIP customer.

Well, extra money never bad thing, but i can imagine messy lines, people getting angry, and other associated headaches involved with using this method often. Still, if others try and it works regularly, would be nice to hear about it here.

I charge 25k for buffs on Sunrunner (go check out the headache that's created)... and another 25k to cut in line. It works out great because if my line ever gets more than 4 deep, i just use Havla... and get them all done quickly anyway.

If I knew that people wouldn't b***h at me for charging 50k, id actually start buffing the public, but there's always someone who is going to b***h at you for **edit**ing with the economy.

Hehe I can get some crazy lines in Coronet at re-start, so I have come up with a really good way of line jumping. It costs 10k per person you wanna pass...simple as that, then I generally take 5k and give it back to the person who was passed. So this solves two problems, makes both people happy and gets me many many a return customer. I have had someone tip as much as 150k in order to pass 15 people once.

Man that is such BS. No line cutting for money. Way I see it, if you let people linecut for money you are marginalizing the new players who may not have as much money. Besides, it is just not cool to keep people waiting to make what really amounts to an insignifigant amount of cash.

It all comes out in the wash, though. New players wait a bit longer, then play for a while and they aren't new players anymore, and so on.

No different than many other examples, in game or RL, where more established people can pay extra to make life more convenient.

I think it's a great idea.

I agree, I refused to allow line jumping at all, for any price. It's rude, plain and simple. Put yourself in the shoes of those in line, how would you feel if you were getting bumped for some guy that clued into the idea that time=money and is correct in the assumption that paying 2 or 3 times the normal fee for instant buffing pays for itself? How many of your clients are you willing to lose to find out?

I don't buff people unless they are my friends, solves all problems, and the tips from ppl who try to get me to buff them are always nice bonuses!

How is charging more for someone jumping in line, any different from those doctors that just say "bank tip to join que" and then everyone sits around for 20 minutes waiting for thier turn? You can't honestly believe, or lead me to believe, that those that "bank tipped" more then the other person don't get bumped to the front of the line, and no-one is even the wiser.

At least by being up front about it, and possibly even advertising it, people are made aware and have the option to pay the standard fee and wait a bit, or pay more for the "express" lane.

I've done this only once myself, I lost no customers waiting in line, no-one complained, people just stepped up when it was thier turn and where very thankful for the buffs.

All this bickering and division between such a noble profession has gotten me to the point that I don't even want to buff the public anymore. I don't hunt for my own meats, I don't survey for my own minerals, I have to rely on others to get it for me because I do wish to be able to fight when I want. Due to the sp sink it takes to become a master doctor, I chose to rely on others to gather the resources I need to make buff packs. Am I lazy, I don't think so. I like being able to join my friends on the occasional hunt.

As I've said before, I will no longer buff for less then 20k. If you're a noobie and don't have the money, then as others have pointed out, you should find that novice doctor that can buff for 1500-1900 and pay less. Not only does that benefit those of us that have mastered the profession, but also those that strive to. It makes sense people. The only reason people complain is because it's human nature to rebel against change. And face it, you can't please everyone, why even try?
