Thread: CU about to start on public TC... Medical profession details here
I have used one stim pack for a month in the field (yet 16 buff paks and 2 rez kits). That tells me Buffs made being a "combat" doc not very needed as healing was none existent.
Now there are many styles to play doc, the CU impact varies by how you play.
Doc + Crafting
For many of the Doc's Crafting was bread and butter. It was how we played. SOE hasn't eliminated it, They changed it....alot.....BE, Medic may be close it. More info will tell. The jury is still out. Not enough info to fully judge the new combination. It's a whole new ballgame here.
Doc + Merchant
Kind of an offshoot of crafting, I'm praying you will have the SP to go forward in your respec.
Doc + Combat,
well this prolly couldn't be any better, I'm actually needed again. You will want a doc when you get debuffed in combat, a good combat doc I think will be valued, in pvp, and high end pve. I don't think we'll make alot of creds at it, but it will be more fun than combat doc now, which for me is more rifleman skill than doc.
Doc + CM
Well you'd be the uber healer in a group. How you make creds I wonder.
Doc + Buffer/Healer
Long term Pve buffs & wound healing, for a 20% increase on a master combat template that can't solo for high end loot, you're probably better off in a group. Sitting around to tip heal will suck..hold it it sucks now, but pays nicly for easy work. See ya at geo cave hehe. And anyone that thinks we can charge for heals good f'ing luck, the player bases in many instances feels you owe them heals as you are a doc for less credits than it's worth your time..read the posts from non docs on these boards.

Gonna get some cofee now

Not true....if that is the role you play, drop Doctor and get BE....Enhancers are useable by anyone....but bonuses for us Doctors. BE's can craft heals for people that don't want medic. If that is the role you play...keep it...you have no need for Doctor from how I read your post. If you like healing, get Master Medic....BE will sell most of the "Consumables" that doctors no longer need to function. But we will always be "The Healers" in the game.....regardless if a combat person can stim or not.

I think one of the things that upsets me the most here relates to the fact that I have the tag on my character. I very specifically have based my entire 6 months of gameplay on filling the "pharmacist" role.
Without the need for medicine, there's really no need for a pharmacist.
It's a shame really because this is what "clicked" with me when I started playing the game.
As far as being greedy, everytime I start a new run of Stim-B's I have to pretty much empty my bank account. I've never broken a million, and I don't care if I ever do. I'd be happier if SOE made us all start our toons from scratch under the current system. I dont' care about money and accumulating stuff. I liked supplying a needed commodity.
At least all my Stim-B's will be converted to one of the only two needed meds under the new system.

That's true, and is my plan of attack.
I'm just hoping that there's actual demand for the two products I can now produce.
OK I think I see the anxiety now. To jump to this style of play post CU you may lose the abilities to enjoy to the extent you have today the other Doc syles of play I mention in previous post. As a doc now you can play one style predominatly and dabble in the other styles. Post CU you don't know what of those styles you can still do with the BE/Medic/Doc "replacement" Template.
I think that may be the gist of the issue from the Doc/Crafter's. Without more information, you know it's changed, but not what the limitations are or what you'd really be gaining/losing.
So we need more info. Does that sum it up?

Everyone can use them...so I would assume yes...they will be in demand.

Is it Just me or did I imagine the part whenTHEY said they wanted to keep the feel of the game the same and keep it diffent from other games. Hows is TURNING HEALING INTO MAGIC DIFFERNT? This upsets me to no end if i want to play a game and USE MAGIC to heal, ie no stims, no nothing just an abilty i could go play eq, eq2, wow, DAOC, ............ any fantcy type of game. Having to use stims and rezz pack was what made SWG DIFFERNT now its just the same as the rest. Anyone besides me see it this way, or do you guys think i'm reading it wrong?
If you think about it....it already is a "Magic" game....Stims, Rez Kits....can be consider "magic" or "potions".
SWG is based off of "fantasy style games" already....you just haven't noticed.

Well if people want to keep that "Play-style" they can....but they will have to sacrifice some other profession.\
I mean heres how I personally see it. Doctor is currently split between "Crafters", "Healers", and "Buffers"
- In essance "Buffers" is removed because now everyone can use Enhacers...Docs get a Bonus though, so its kinda still there.
- "Healers" are the people like me...I wanna heal not craft. "Let me heal" so to speak....
- "Crafters" are the people that want to "Craft" not heal.
Now in most cases, currently, "Crafters" would sell to "Buffers"...."Healers" crafted for "themselves".
You may see the prof as being split in to little compartments. I see the prof as a whole, a fluid movement from one skill to another.
I do not see the difference between crafting, healing, buffing. It is like saying a person is just a few arms, a couple of legs and a head. They are all those things working together.
Yes, there are few buff bots out there but they are rare. Sadly, since buffing will be at no cost, there will be a great rise in buff bots. The entertainers bots will become doc bots.
I guess I just never had the distain of my fellow docs choice of play styles that others have had. Peaple have picked up doc and enjoyed it for many valuable reasons. It is a very rare day that a doc is just a buffer or a just a crafter or just a healer. Far more often than not they were what ever was needed.
The new doc will be a specials spamer and not much more. They will point and heal with no prethought into what they will need to be successful on a trip. It will be likegoing camping in a 5 star hotel.

I'll give you the potions but it wasn't "magic" at all or anywhere near. "Magic" is the priest or cleair abilty to heal without useing anything but mana aka mind and action pool points where stims used our pools and a item, ie i run up to bob and inject him with a stim and the chemicals healed him and it used some of the chemicals. That is very much like potions but not like the new system witch sounds like 90% of the healing is now "magic".

We had a lot of abilities that could be considered "Magic" /tenddamage, /tendwound, /firstaid, /quickheal....etc.

QFE
I don't see the hold up on the "magic" here. How does a BH's torso shot put the target on fire? Same deal.
We have more important things to consider and test, so I think we should take our efforts and concentrate on testing the changes as soon as we can on TC. That will be the best way to really get a feel for what is going on, instead of guessing and assuming.

All I'm gonna say about this is....The actions of one....set the tone of Many. Visit the Entertainer Forum and you will understand.
When a person goes in there and flames all entertainers for "Being AFK".....or "NEED AFK MACRO"....or anything like that...you will understand what I'm trying to say. Justbecause the Botters and AFKers aren't vocal (I mean how can they...they are AFK) doesn't mean they aren't there. It takes one person to screw the reputation of many....And once the reputaion is gone there isn't much that can be done to fix it.
Our profession is tagged as "Buff bots"...and it drives me nuts...People think that is all we can do...all we care about...and all we ever do. It's not about what is true or false...it's about the reputaion of one screwing the reputation of many... And thats what it boils down to.
If you all really think about it, this game is nothing more than anyother game but the star wars skin they all have fighters, healers and crafters, I plan on giving testing my best and see how it all comes together. Call it what you will its still Star Wars.

Then just how nuts will you go when the afk doc bots have replaced the afk ent bots? The only think that has pushed the doc bots into hiding is that the buff required meds and could not be give for free. Likewise for wound and other healing.
Here is my issue. I go to the mining outpost to do a bit of hunting. Inside the cantina is a doc
/targetoutward
/healenhance
/curedisease
/curepoison
etc.
Every player cantina will have the same bot.
So now all somone has to do is run into a cantina and get all the healing they need. Oh sure, they will not get the damage healing they need in the fieldbut heck, they have skill point free Stim B's.
