Technically, BE's would already be able to link to merchant, since Medic xxx4 is required for BE. I do like the idea of being able to get to merchant through other professions besides Artisan, but I can live with the current system.

*smack self on forhead* oops

Yea.. thats whyI think it should be in medic and not part of Doctor or BE itself, because both doctor and BE need that line of medic

What about the idea that got lost in the above HateFest? Would Medic-only Bazaar Terminals in Medical Centers be an agreeable alternative? For Smugglers only in Cantina's?

This would fix the need for Merchant skills being added to a profession, as well as render them easily found and accessible. Heck, it may even put Doctors back in hospitals...

But you can't make exceptions based on worth. After all, Stims are worthless to my non-medic just as traps are to my non-scout. When I was a Master Ranger, I would actually buy crates of camps and traps simply because it freed up inventory space and saved me the hassle of putting down a factory. They were worth more to me than stims were, since I had no medic skills.

And I personally see no difference between a pharmacist and an outfitter. One sells meds, one sells camping supplies...

Its all perspective. I have mine, you have yours. But, I feel your plight, I just don't see giving Medic's Merchant being the answer

I think that is a good idea, definately worth considering. Maybe you just need to flesh out the idea a little more and start a seperate threadsince this one refers to Master Doctors only.

Unfortunatly I see a few potential problems with this even though I love the idea ...

a) I don't think there is a way to tell the difference between a crate of weapons and a crate of meds, limiting it to single meds only -- I don't know about anyone else, but 90%+ of my sales come from crates not singles

b) No longer could you conveniently put sets of meds in backpacks -- I do this with buffs currently but am going to start doing it with other meds as well ...

b) I like how in some towns there are 1, 2, maybe 3 medcenters tops ... do we want med centers to be become as everyday an occurance as medium and small houses? (After close to 2 years in the profession, I've still never had my own! grrrrr....)

This idea was brought up by the doctor community but the difference was they wanted a med dispersal mechanism ... wherein you could go and the droid would be able to give the buffs out .... but then, thats a whole 'nother discussion

Well, it couldn't have the caps the Bazaar has. It would need to be accessible to anyone who has Medic skills to sell on, but anyone should be able to buy (because of alts, guilds and the like). Instead of charging a maintenance fee, it would be like the bazaar, charging a posting fee. If you wanted, the higher on the crafting tier, the more you can post for sale...

Smugglers could work the same way. Personally, I'd like to see a shady individual for this one, in a darkened back corner somewhere with some dialog in the numerous cantina's. Make it a city improvement type item for player cities while your at it.

Hmm. It may have to be limited to NPC city Med Centers and Cantinas to prevent that one problem, and yeah, the system would have to be able to tell a factory crate of meds from a factory crate of carbosyrup...and backpacks...man, you guys can tear holes in anything

I absolutely love the idea of NPCs as a city improvement item! Especially if you can place them in your empty cantina/medical center/city hall.

Sure, you have the temp perks, but if they act like the lottery droids, you can't place them anywhere near a building.

why would you want to put the equivelant of a med only bazzar in med centers? Why not use the bazzar as it is. Have soe fix the damn sort tabs so they work....

This idea STILL kills the merchant tree. No one but docs ever ask for the vendor because no other profession gripes about the skill point restriction. That is really the only basis for this arguement and boils down to a "I want more" conversation. If you are a doc you are a service/merchant profession. No other crafter gets money from providing a service with the stuff they craft (save slicers) Because you have this additional cash stream, it is logical that the point restrictions are different.

You know what, as a Musician/Dancer/Entertainer, I can't fight. Hell, I should get certification for a T-21 and +100 to Rifle Accuracy and Rifle Speed at the Master Dancer box! I mean, combat professions don't have to pay an extra $15 dollars a month to fight.

It is not the Doc profession that needs a fix for this but the Merchant profession. They should be the only ones that can sell items or at least effectively do so.

Anyone that is not a merchant should be very limited in how they can sell. Merchant skills should also not be included with the artisan tree. They need to have their own skill set altogether.

Vendors should have the much talked about consignment ability. Where you (and I as a master Doc) can drop items on someone else’s vendor at the price we want. The merchant then accepts or rejects it. If accepted, it is than listed on their vendor for the price they set. Once the item sells, the price we set is deducted, sent to us and the merchant gets their markup value that they set.

If the items do not sell or are rejected, said items are then returned to us to try at another vendor.

Don’t place a band-aid on a broken bone buy giving Docs vendor rights in the master box, mend that bone with a cast and make the merchant line viable for both them and us (all crafters that is).

You know, I don't have the time, nor the incentive to go around one-starring posts. But I'll tell you this, Ack (since you can't seem to get my name right, I figure turnabout and all)...

The rating system is set up to start ignoring the one stars of rampant one-star ninjas. When we had our disagreement over Cross server lot trades, you started one starring everything I posted, regardless of where it was or what it was about. I dropped from Squadron Leader to Petty Officer in one day...then guess what happened. All your stars got ignored, and are still ignored and I'm back where I was.

Seeing how you treat people on the few posts we've crossed paths, I think you should blame yourself for any "lowering of rating". Its too much of a coincidence that, when you come on I all of a sudden get a bunch of one stars. One day, maybe, but not day after day.

Before you start throwing rocks, I'd step outside that glass house of yours
