Well in every other RPG I've played, your "hit points" increased as you went up a level. But since SOE didn't want to have a "status quo" RPG, they came up with the current HAM system. It takes some getting used to watching not one but three different types of hit points while in combat.

And while I do agree that combat has to be balanced, I do not agree however, that buffs both doctor and food, should be nerfed in any way shape or form. It won't be much of a balance if your hit points never increase as you gain more advanced levels.

So I do commend SOE for trying something new, but the old saying "if it's not broke, don't fix it" applies to the HAM. By that I mean "hit points" are a tried and true method of balancing an RPG and they should have been included in this one.

Raise the price for buffs to 100k a set and we will single handedly take the winds out of sales and become richer then AS WS. A proposal for all doc's on Ahazi to come to gether for a general price raise to help stop the cry for nerf. We do want to serve the public's interest so.

So I vote we raise prices to minimum 40k a set and watch what happens. Maybe we can come together one day and just agree to make this happen so that we can see what it will do to the criers of the game itself.

Doctor:You want a buff sure 40k

Customer : **edit**

Ahem.

As the designated economics professor of the Creature Handler forum (when discussing the proposed mount cartel prior to publish 3), may I remind all here that the posters and readers of the forums constitute but a fraction of the playerbase. Not all master docs read this forum. Therefore any attempt to price fix or create a cartel is doomed to failure, because even if every single doc on Ahazi who reads this forum agree to set a basement price of 40k or whatever for a set of buffs, we will be undercut at the Coronet or Theed staports by someone else.

Also, Karrem, even at 12k a pop per buff pack, If I sell 9 sets of buffs at 8k each, every buff after that (and your buff packs are running what, about 25 charges per pack now?) is pure profit for me. I've made up my supplies cost. So anyone buying your buff packs at your prices will still be ahead vastly undercutting the cartel price. Now, assuming you can get monopoly control over the best avian out there (and I know you're paying 50cpu for that good Yavin avian right now) there are still others undercutting you at wholesale prices.

Price fixing in a free market economy does not work, due to imperfect intelligence and due to someone always willing to bring their prices down to get business from someone attempting to gouge, for greed or even for a higher purpose.

I partially agree, but 80% kinetic armor is more to blame IMO.

I disagree because people wouldn't be wearing fully effectiveness suits of composite armor without the high end buffs. The balance for armor is the more protection, the more encumbrance but the buffs are offsetting that.

This post is worthless, all you are doing is crying, not even a positive resolution.

It's the armor and the unbalanced combat classes, NOT the buffs.

This thread is doomed for failure because it's suggesting that a skill by the profession in which forum it's in would loose some ability but remember, it's because of the buffs people can wear such high resistant armor.

More hit points isn't the only unbalancing thing buffs do. It also buffs your secondaries that allow you to spam Spitting Rawl over and over and over and over again. Spitting Rawl is a very powerful special. The thing that's supposed to balance that much power is the fact that your HAM will be used up by spamming it. With buffs, that barrier to spamming it is totally removed.

TKM shouldn't even be running around in armor. That's what their inherent unarmed toughness is for. Yet you see all the TKM/Doctors running around in full composite completely ignoring that which was supposed to balance their power.

All buffs do is offshoot the encumbrance (which they should change, but nerfing buffs overall is NOT the solution).

W/O good armor all a buff does is give you some more hit points to lose, which with any good weapon in this game will take two seconds.

whats the problem with some people? You feel that something as harmless as buffing attributes is something to be verbally attacked. Buffs don't have any effect whatsoever on anyone as far as being negative. Why do people feel that they need to help influence the devs to take away our only meathod of gaining money. the only solution for people to do to nerf a profession i guess.

Buffs armor and ham costs are the problem with this game.

Buffs: with just buffs I can go out and solo anything except for krayts and the higher level nightsisters. There is something just a tad wrong with that.

Armor: Armor is messed up in a lot of ways. One, the resists are obviously way too high. Secondly, the way AP and AR works in this game is downright stupid. If I have armor piercing capabilities, I should cut through your armor like a stick of butter if your AR is lower than my AP. They could then give high level mobs a high AP to help them rip through armor. And by this, I mean if my AP is greater than your AR I shouldn't be effected by the effectiveness of your armor. It doesn't make sense if I have ap 2 and you have ar 1 that I would still lose 80% of my damage.

HAM costs: these are totally messed up. As a swordsman, I can swing my hammer using melee hit 3 maybe 4 times before I no longer have a health pool.

Puhleeze.

If you cannot understand that buffs change the way combat takes place in this game, I can't help you. Buffs unbalance an already unbalanced system. They make it possible to triple your HAM. If you don't think this changes the way you approach combat, you're not thinking.

Anyone who was around in the first two months of release knows how different combat was then (PvE or PvP) than it is now. It's why a "combat revamp" is necessary.

This is not a matter of "nerfing doctor". This is a matter of understanding how one attribute of one profession interacts with other professions to affect even more professions. The interaction betwen systems in game can lead to unexpected and unanticipated results that profoundly alter the play experience.
