Thread: The Diffence between a good Doctor and a bad Doctor
Just had to respond.
I enjoy being a DR and always keep all packs with me to heal everyone around. Yea I buff once in awhile if someone asks but rarely the starport buff line.
I was really dissapointed before I became a Dr not being able to find someoen to cure a disease on me, or seriuos wounds. Most people tip and are always very nice when I heal.
All depends on game play but I find it more fun and social being a Family Dr. than a Plastic Surgeon.
My 2 creds.
Well, according to this thread I'll have to be a "bad" doctor until I can become a "good" doctor. I just got novice doc a couple days ago, and in my search for the resources I need to craft my own stims, I found the prices to be pretty steep. I quickly came to the realization that I'll have to go up the Doctor's Knowledge tree first, buy my buffs, and save up to master doc. I will say this though, I ALWAYS cure whoever I can, wherever I am. Wounds, damage, poison, disease, you name it I will heal it for you....and in my very limited experience everyone seems grateful and they almost always thank me. I think that due to the influx of new players and the fact that hologrinding is over with, newer players are a bit more grateful to recieve the care of a doctor, and not assume we are all grinding for xp.

Ive said this so many times to whiners in my line, I can make more buffing myself and running missions. I should be charging 25k.

Inventory space is also a factor. I simply do not have the room in my pack to carry around 6 enhance packs, 6 wound packs, a disease pack, a poison pack, a flame blanket, a rez pack, resources for replacements, full suit of composite, weapons, doc clothing, bivoli, brandy, canape, droid batteries, etc etc... and still have room for loot out in the field. And frankly none of it is worth carrying except the enhance packs and my adventure gear. You people **edit** and complain about paying 12,000cr for a 3hour+ buff that even at a snail's pace will earn you 100,000cr easily. And running Janta missions in a solo group will get you 500,000+ easy. I know. I used to do it. And thats where I made 90% of my cash, because it was a better investment of my time.

So you don't plan on buffing people when you get to master doctor? Are you planning on being the most over-qualified, non-buffingwound-healer in your guilld?
Also, what is the point of buffing people if not to make money? Why would I persue ANY profession if not to make money? Money's how I pay for things in the game. Money's how you buy wound packs, buy buff packs, disease packs, poison packs. It's how you pay the fees on your house. I'm not saying that you should gouge prices or anything. And PLEASE, let's not get into the discussion about how much buffs cost. I think there are a few people that think it costs too much and then there are the rest that realize you can make that much money back in 1-2 missions at most.
That's my opinion.
I dont buff people for money...In fact, I have never ONCE stood in front of Theed/Coronet spamming "Buffing 12K / 2500 / 3.25 hrs!!!"....I have never charged someone for buffs
I became a Doctor for the following reasons:
1) To take care of my guildmates during PvP/PvE, first and foremost, as to most efficiently deal with the 20 MCM's we usually face
2) So I dont have to go to places like Theed/Coronet and get raked over the coals for buffs, not to mention the downtime while waiting for shuttles/buffs
3) The fact that not including the cost of training (I was trained for free), add in the costs of shuttles and 10-12K per buff, an uber set of bought buff packs pays for itself about 1/3 to 1/2 way thru...
Its just not in me to sit down and start yelling "buffing!!!" That has to be the most boring aspect of the game....
Well there are two camps to this:
1. I'm doc I should always heal.
2. You're a doc quit stealing our XP!
To me there is nothing more satisfying than seeing some poor guy diseased and doing a drive by heal. Same thing for PvP, though that has gottebn me killed more often than not
I suppose better stated there are Doc's and there are buffer's. Nothing wrong with either of them , you just need to figure out which you are dealing with.

Ifyou have your Master Doc title up and dont feel like healing diseases etc for whatever reason then you're a bad doc.
If you feel like leaving the title off for whatever reason, then there simply is no problem.
Of course people add it to their pvp template so you're not expecting them to buff outside starports etc. To me it all depends if you have the title on. I carry all meds and a crate of sparesall of the time ( I leave tools and resources at home)and the only thing I'll refuse to dois buffs if I'm low on packs. So I play it like this;
Doc title on: healing all wounds, treatments and buffs if I have them (a doc shouldn't hide their title if they're not buffing, I'll always have a disease/rez/poison pack on me so players can read my title to show I can treat them)
Doc title off: who cares? problem solved. the choice to treat a player is yours
I don't know if it's just me but a polite inquiry by any player will generally result in me going out of my way to help them. Having "one of those customers" is fun but it does make us suspicious of the general population

A GOOD DOCTOR... Carrys all heal and wound packs, poison heals, buff packs, revive packs etc and will also help heal others in the medical centre and in the field.
A BAD DOCTOR... Only carrys buff packs and only cares about making his money buffing people.
I do not agree with this statement. I have been a master doc for months now. I carry all wound packs, poison, disease, statecures, rez and a full set of buffs with me at all times. I have crates of spare wound packs and buffs in my droids.
