Thread: This angered me.

A good example of impatient was when I logged my alt in today. She had the Master Doctor tag up, and the same person sent four /tells before I finished logging in...
damn, lol.
If you don't want to be bother for buffs, remove your Master Doctor status on your toon and change it to something else. It's that simple. "
I disagree. I earned the right to wear it if I choose, and I dont think I should be forced to attempt to hide it. Even now that I dont wear the title, people still examine me when they see me not in comp and ask me for buffs, and I have a shipwright tag up go figure.
Everyone that asks me for a buff is answered how they ask.
If they say "buff me" I say piss off. If they say "buffs?" I simply say no. If they say Hi, are you selling buffs? I usually respond Sorry I do not sell buffs.

Ok, when people here, not on this thread necessarily but the whole swg community say that it isn't a docs job to serve people and buff them all the time, when you really think about it, it is. I'm not saying that people should be rudeabout it, but when you really think, you master doc (most of the time) to buff other people and make money. so you serve other people. for example, when you go to the doctor in rl, and you are like "i need some medicine, i feel horrible" he doesn't say (or she) "im not here to serve people all the time, that isn't my job" you know what i mean? People come to expect that docs will always buff them whenever they ask.
Obviously Ocoro has not been to a doctor in RL lately and does not know any physicians. I do not thinkanyone could walk up to a doctor on the street when they are not working and demand medicine.
Apart from being a doc, I am also a swordsman. I am a swordsman about 75% of the time I am online. So now it is my "job" to heal every random person who sends me tells, especially the rude ones? When I am playing swordsman, the answer is no. I am there to "serve" only if I am advertising buffs or in the medical center healing. Then I will heal, buff and "serve" others as long as they "serve" me by paying my price. I do not want to sound mean, but that is how I play the game. And that is why I rarely play doctor to people outside my guild.
Think of the "servant" bit this way....Non-doctor playersneed docs for buffs and (some) doctors neednon-doctor players for resources to make buffs. So, aren'tthe non-doc players our servents too?
I think the point of this thread is that we need to treat others with respect. We all play the "servant" no matter what profession we have chosen. I would not go up to one of my patientsand demand they give me resources immediately, why should others do that to doctors?

Not flaming, just saying, when I got Master Doctor, nobody had heard of buffs. I had to explain to people that I could increase their stats for a short time. I would ask people what they were worth, and most people didn't care for them because they were temporary. I didn't become a Doctor to be a machine at everyone's beckon call. I took up Medic to heal myself after combat, so I healed a few people around the Med Center and it snowballed from there. I was about the 3rd Master Doctor on my server and as far as I know, I'm the oldest on the server.
Also when you go to a RL doctor you make an appointment and have to show up on time and pay what he/she charges. There is no negotiation on pricing. Besides buffs are elective surgery. Try talking a RL Doctor into giving you a nose job while he/she is trying to go to the grocery store.
