Overall, people are willing to pay 10-14k for a buff. If you undercut a guy to try to gain business, he'll just do the same, and now you're making 8k each instead of 10k.

(Perhaps I should make this a separate post? Thoughts?)

I buff for tips which brings the nearby prices down which is good for the customers. That's all that matters.

Buffing for tips which in turn brings the nearby prices down (which is good for the customers) is exactly what he was talking about... and though I do not charge anything for my own buffs, I will not spam FREE BUFFS! if im in a spaceport as not all doctors are as well off as I am and I am aware that Doctor is not the cash cow it is percieved to be, as well the money is EASILY made back by the recipiant of the buffs. It's not like people dont have enough money to afford buffs at 10k or even 20k... I could even do this as a noob character running 5k missions.. wow thats 20 min for a buff.

And Jalinsol thats a pretty funny story too lol

After playing a Master Doc on 2 different accounts (at different times), my experience has been that the majority of my customers are polite, respectful, and understanding. If the line is long, most wait patiently until its their turn. But I have seen an increase lately in people running up and demanding free buffs or demanding that they be moved to the front of the line. For these people, I explain to them that they must bank tip to get in line and that they must wait their turn. If they persist, I buff them (when it's their turn) then send them an e-mail explaining to them that because of their behavior I will never buff them again. I will consider any further tips from them to be generous gifts and that they should not expect anything in return. Then I put them on the ignore list.

After a while, they leave you alone.

I also inform other docs in the area what is going on. It's amazing to see other Doc's deny service to someone because they were an a$$ to me.

I love being a Doc!

I'm lucky I don't get much grief at all. I do the same things as a few posters on the thread
1.Tip only what you can afford, never spam it in spatial unless there's no other docs, I accept their need to make a buck since they prolly bought their buffpacks. Telling people you're buffing for free in Coro sp is likely to cause a riot and put you on everyones friends list. You will never know peace again
2. Only really offer buffs when I buff myself since I don't like to waste bivoli
3. The politer the customer, the more likely I am to help them
4. Never add anyone to ignore list, it's more fun when they forget you and come back a week or so later asking for a buff

/disagree... I always forget when people are on my ignore list.. and it was so nice and peaceful with one of the idiots of our server around... i'll never go back! oh and this is the one person who was stupid enough to whine and whine (one day at the village) for me to give them buffs... then when i did, and they had 500 bf, the buffs were still like 1900 *flex* they started complaining and i left them with only a health and strength buff... it was then that they were added to my ignore list.
