It should be noted that Combat classes at least have the OPTION of taking missions whilst getting their XP.
Medics/Docs have NO CHOICE but to spend money to get XP.
Mission terminals always pay out for services rendered.
The vast majority of people that get healed do not.

i'm a master doctor (ex-master commando/smuggler/pistoleer/rifleman/medic/entertainer/brawler/scout/combat medic/ch...im very familiar with the ins and outs of this game's professions). and yes, if you need xp, the wounded are in fact doing you a favor.
"Don't think you're doing us any favors by letting us heal you. What's your in-game name, btw?"

We are doing each other a favour, patient gets healed and we get xp. That doesn't change the fact the patient gets healed for free while the Medic pays for the privelage of XP.
I'll re-iterate, what's 100 credits?
As well as that, don't people like tipping? I usually tip minimum of 500 credits for whatever service, and almost always 1000 credits for any training in an Elite profession. On average I'd say I only have 7k credits to my name, but I tip anyway because it's nice to give, and people always appreciate it.
This games economy is player driven, so it does us all good to spread the wealth!
