Thread: Buffs possible REDUCTION of business?

I think that lowering the buffpower and the armor in no way will ruin the doctor profession, It will rather bring more content to it since then doctors/medics/CMs will have to be a part of any hunting group. This will also make leveling doctor/medic more fun and less grind. And when leveling is fun it seems to go faster even though it is slower than powergrinding.

Back in the days whenI just started playing swg and was working my way up the medic/docktor proffessions I was a much appreciated addition to any hunting group because of my healing abilities. Nowdays healers are only required in the high-end groups that are going to the DWB and such. Because with the armor and buffs people hardly take any damage at all. So the only useI have of my doctor skills other than buffing for money (and buffing myself of course) is the occasional resuciation or disease removal.

I'm excited to see such a lively discussion on such a volatile topic.

I think a point that's often missed, or at least maligned, is that grouping severely diminishes your opportunity to earn money, and occasionally even XP, despite the cap. With the jedi revamp, this is a serious consideration.I hear everybody saying "Go ahead and group and play like the old days." That's a little bit limited in scope, though, as the new game mechanics do not reward those who chose to do so as mucn as they do the people who choose to solo. Now if you hate loot and xp and money, that's your own issue, I welcome you to have fun your way and let me have it mine.

If you like to group up, like I do, and choose to go to say the Geo caves, however, you're probably going to find (at least on my server) so many soloers there, that you're lucky if your group catches a kill and a loot in the whole trip. An exaggeration, admittedly, but you see my point.

In short (too late) the accessibility of soloing diminishes the experience of grouping. So the argument that people should just "play like the old days" doesn't quite wash, because it isn't the old days.

I'm a doc. I love buffing in front of a starport, and I love healing on hunts. I think we need to focus on how everybody can play the game they want to play, and not tell people how they ought to be playing it.

More high end content, or instances caves/lairs/missions, are, in my opinion, better solutions than drastically changing the mechancis we've become familiar with and dependent on.

No ill will, just my two cents.

Another fact is that people with few time to play (casual players) have hard times playing in "forced grouping" situation.

The normal player, even if playing hours and hours a day will group for many content, like I do, I don't kill a krayt or an elder alone so I can group with one or two friends (darn cool I don't have to group with strangers) and go kill I did the same on geo caves before they fixed in last patch but I don't mind a hand (if Imperial) killing the Acklay downstairs...

So I'm like the guy that posted above me, the high content will bring ingroups eventually.

It surprising that in JTL everyone who attacks a ship and helps destroy it get the same amount of exp as though the soloed it. Hopefully that will be the case with the combat revamp.

Otherwise we'll actually have to work to get a "master" title instead of grind it out in a week.

Jedi are a whole different ball game though. They dont have the option of grouping with people unless they want their names on the BH boards.

hmm i like buffs...try corvette or dwb or nsis cave without them. one hit kills in all of those sites even if u are in a big group. u ALL will be wiped out in 2 minutes guaranteed. anyway stick with buffs but reuce power to only max hittting for 2000. sounds good to me

Try reducing the regen substats by 75% and increasing the base Health/Action by 10x. 25k Health and Action would be kinda nice but no regen so damage stays. Armor would have to take a hit though for it to balance out. Would also make having a medic type person very much wanted in a group.
