Thread: On Fire again...

Haerb,

Yes, IRL getting sprayed with a flamethrower would take more than a fire extinguisher to save you. For that matter one shot through the eye would finish you off too....or getting run through with a sword....or chopped with an axe....or impaled with a pike...or perforated with a full clip from a carbine. You see where this is going? Thinking hard? If they wanted real life physics and consequences to apply then every character would be permadeath. It's a game and to be a fun game there has to be balance. Right now a virtually incurable DOT that wounds is very unbalanced.

I'd also like to point out that the regular attacks of a flame thrower do cause you to catch on fire. I had my commando friend attack me to try out the stop drop and roll trick (didn't work). He shot at me with normal attacks (didn't want to incap me right off).

The first shot: miss
The second shot: dodge. but I caught on fire anyway!!!
I then went prone to try to rotate and put out the fire. he didn't notice so:
The third shot: incapped.

Once I woke up I crawled around in circles, rotated, tumbled, and was unable to put the fire out. I then took a quick swim in the ocean (I'm so happy I don't live on tatooine)

Im not sure on the fire extinguisher but something needs to be done about flamethrowers. They hit too hard, produce incredible wound damage, and the dot chain incaps. Its also a death sentence for faction pets. A major nerfing is in order.

Combat medics traditionally give others status effects. Doctors traditionally take away status effects. Your suggestion would kinda be defeating the purpose of both classes.

Good points! Well, the point is, there is an inherent flaw in the lack of a cure for On Fire status and that needs to be changed immediately before it is exploited anymore.

------

Finally, it took it's toll and I died. When I spawned back at the cloning center, I immediately was incapped and when the time ran out, I didn't get up. I was stuck in that position until someone could finally drag me out of the cloning center and heal my wounds.

------

This exact circumstance occurred for me yesterday.

Cloned, incapped in the clone tank, when the timer ran out, i was still incapped, indefinately.

Perhaps because my stamina, constitution, and health were all in the negatives...? Even though i had stored my clone data in the same clone shop.

Like yourself, i had to send a tell to another doctor and ask them to drag me out of the clone shop into the street and treat my health wounds to get me on my feet.

Something needs to be done about this.. i bugged it at the time, but it should be clear to the devs that one should NEVER be indefinately incapacitated laying in the clone shop floor, waiting on a drag and wound treatment.

I'm pretty sure the devs know about this bug because when it happened to me, I didn't know that you had to be dragged out so I contacted a dev to help me. I explained the problem very well to him so I think they should know about it and how to fix it by now. However, this is yet another reason why there should be a cure for the On Fire status because there would be a LOT less of the perma incap bug going around.

The perma-incap bug is fixed in this publish, which should be going to the live servers this morning.

Glad to hear it. However, that doesn't mean the need for a cure for On Fire status is gone too.

Well I didn't say I removed the issue from the list.

Just thought I'd make sure te folks who were worried aobut he incap problem were aware of it. (That problem also applied to any DoT attack on a buffed person that cloned, BTW.)

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to imply that you had forgotten the issue. I was just saying that as if I was talking to the devs.

I am a master doc/master pistoleer, imp working on atst 4 atm, hoping i can finally keep two at once, i do virtually NO pvp as of yet, mostly because im a wussy girly man, secondly because of my early experiences with commando fire, in bestine i go overt get my atst out, rebs waiting for me in the hotel, i didnt know there was a commando fire bypassing armor and resists issue and i had a combat rated 125 atst with me, whos to worry!? well i got incapped from commando fire in one attack, my atst didnt last much longer, a minute tops before he reduced its tin structure to slag, 70% and heavy armor my ass, second atst, im in dant doing faction with my atst! a commando and bh jump me outside the fort, i incap the commando as he is going for my atst and leaves it with half wounds from one attack and almost no life, the bh is a minor medic of some sort and heals the commando, he stands up and BOOM atst #2 meets an early end! there has to be some kind of fix for this? in the movies the imperials crushed the rebels whenever they found them, in the game the imperials run for their lives as it seems every second rebel is a commando, not that i blame them, i would be too.

A cure for On Fire status would go a long way towards helping that problem. I understand what you're saying though. I'll have 5 friends with me and a commando will still reduce us to nothing AND with massive wounds(even though we are buffed). It's not balanced to have something that powerful without a cure. A cure for On Fire status definitely should be our first priority as doctors.
