ok thx. with r2s using similar components to build and r4s being just as effective with greater ham i was wondering why one would build one beyond request. they can take personality mods but i havent noticed anything wonderful about that fact.

The main Difference between the R series Droid is how many modules they can hold. The Advanced R3 is the best with 6. The R2 can hold 5. All the other R units vary between 1-4 depending on advanced models or not.

It's mostly a looks thing. If people just wanta Droid with 2 or 3 modules, why not put it in a different looking chasis, instead of the same old R3 you see everyday.

the surgical droid chassis is based on the one you see in films, and a surgical droid does look better on right chassis, would you want r2d2 trying to sew up your wounds. only problem is untill year 3000 when its fixed surgical chassis droids cant have storage compartment, you can put one in it just wont open.

The other issue of course is that the humanoid droids can't be renamed. Annoying problem, which is why you'll see more non humanoid med droids. People like to name them...

I haven't seen a probot med droid though...

Going on this thought, the R4, R5 and R2's are cheaper to make than the R3s, so they tend to be popular cheap no frills models. I sell R4's with item storage, MCR 110 and a food/chem crafting station, and they sell because they're cheap, they appeal to the people who just want storage, and they are a simple medbot.

A surgical droid allows a medic to heal wounds on other players outside of a hospital/med center. At least this was the case back in the beginning when I was a DE/medic. I think the rules changed somewhere, and after a certain level Medics can do it on their own. To be honest, I haven't really looked into in a while. So it maybe open to some exploration

I think you're confuzling Surgical droid (the droid chassis-style) with the Medical Module (which can go in multiple chassis's). Having a surgical droid as your chassis has no effectto enhance or impedethe ability to heal, either in or out of a med center / hospital /city spec, nor does it give any "healing functionality" without an installed Medical Module. Italso does not enhance or impedethe performance of an installed Medical Module in any way, shape, or form in usage, utility, location, or otherwise.

In a nutshell, if you want the use of the Medical Module, most any droid chassis will do. Sticking to a Surgical Droid chassis is personal preference (if you like how it looks, get one), but it won't enhance/impede the medical modules functionality at all. A 110 rated Medical Module will function at 110 in a MSE Mouse Droid or a Binary Load Lifter, and any droid chassis (barring bugs) in between.

a novice medic can heal outsidemedical centerbut they cant use medical wound packs, thats why you need medical droid and the better the med unit the more you heal when outside with droid.

If I remember correctly, you couldn't heal wounds outside the med center without a surgical droid. And I am reffering to healing wounds without a med pack. The medical modules simply gave bonuses to the use of med pack and other medicines, not to just straight healing.

But the last time I was a DE/Medic was 4 months after the game started. I have not had the desire to be a medic since.
