My templet almost perfectly fit the "Big Game Hunting" for solo fighting. I'm not gonna lie, I'm a loot whore and don't like paying for it or shraing it. I had TKM and Master rifles. The TKM gave me enough melee defences and melee mitigation that I could just stand there and take my beating while dealing out a much larger one with my rifle to krayts and the such. Ofcourse, medic is a must. I also had enough of that to fully heal myself while buffed. If you are only going to use one elite combat profession, then stick with swords. You get melee toughess, defences, and mitigations which all help when fighting high end stuff. However, if you get Master Riflman you will no longer have to be worried when a whole group rolls up on your target. You'll still out damage ALL of them unless they also have riflemen. Not having AP3 as a Swordsman though is going to really hurt you against high end stuff, you automatically get cut to 50% damage against the AR3's, then you have to deal with the actual resistance, usually an additional 80-90% cut in damage.
So, in short:
One Combat Profession=Swordsman+Medic
Two Combat Professions=Rifleman+Your choice of melee+Medic

I thought that the Unarmed/Two-Handed/Whatever Toughness didn't work unless you had the appropriate weapon eqipped. Is this untrue?

You're right about the toughness. However, melee defense and melee mitigation work no matter what you you are holding.

rifleman isa high damaging profession buttakes alot of melee damage, which most high end mobs are very good at. i would take swordsman or teras kasi, tk is limited because of the kinetic only damage type but can take hits from just about anything for an extended period of time, swordsman takes a bit more damage but can deal blast damage.
one of riflemans best strengeths is concealed shot/cover, you can solo just about anything without taking a single hit if your careful and the AP3 is very useful, but rifleman isn't the fastest for taking down mobs.

I would have to say MHS would be better for the straight solo. Swords can stand toe-2-toe with most high end mobs and come out on top most of teh time (armor holes withstanding). Rifles are awsome but if u are using cover/conseal shot and somthing agros, u are pretty much taking a 1way trip to teh cloneing center. But if u are with a tank, a rifles/doc would be awsome. These are just my opinions though, I could be wrong.

So ya Being a Master Ranger is great and all. But I've started just hunting hot shifts, like once a month or what ever, and have more credits than I need. I've got cool people to group with when those shifts do come through (who'd a thunk it?). And I'm all nervous about the future of camo. It was the thing that sold me on Ranger in the end.
So ya I was thinking maybe (stessing maybe here) about reclaming some skill points and Wooping on the BIG stuff a bit more offten. I'd like to keep 0/0/4/4, but would concider 0/0/3/0 if I could be realy bad ass with it.
Any thoughts? I know rifleman well (aganist critters that is). The other combat proffs.. not realy a damn thing.
Ya talk me out of this.

Do what you want, you can always come back to Master Ranger if you get bored/don't like the new Combat Proff.
A lot of people like TKM and they sure do put out a lot of damage... along with Swordsman, which compliments Rifleman's mind pool damage for when the critters get up close and personal. Pikeman looks fun too, but then you're splitting your damage dealing ability across 2 HAM pools.
