I just wanted to expand on the question a bit further (being Aeneas’s partner). What is everyone’s thought on the ultimate 2 player template for PvE? With swordsman being an obvious choice for at least 1 (if not 2) of the 4 elite professions available – what are your experiences with other professions to compliment the blade (or the hammer).

Here are some ideas I’ve surmised so far from these boards and a bit of personal experience:

# 1 Swordsman / MD + Rifleman / Ranger: the Sword / MD amount to a self sufficient tank, while the Ranger / Rifleman can conceal and plug away – all at 1 pool.

# 2 Swordsman / MD + CM / Rifleman: Like above you have a self sufficient tank, but with the added bonus of someone throwing some mind poison and spreading the burden of general healing (plus that emergency mind heal might come in handy).

# 3 Swordsmen / MD + Swordsman / MD: Simple and seemingly fool proof, if someone gets KD the other one picks them up.

#4 Swordsmen / Rifleman + Swordsmen / Rifleman: Each gets about 50-60m on opposite sides of the victim (in reality you’d be risking shooting each other, but thankfully this is a game) depending on which direction the victim runs determines who gets to tank – if even necessary for lesser things.

Anyway throw in your thoughts. I freely admit that most of this is theory, so if anyone has some more personal experience it would be most appreciated.

Best dynamic duo for krayt/nightsister hunting would definitely 2 speed capped swordsman and a speed capped riflemanwith templates somewhat built like this:

1st person - Master Brawler (Intimidation 2), Master Swordsman (Headhit 3), 0304 Teras Kasi (State and Posture Changing Defenses as well as Melee Defense and Defense Acuity), 2440 Fencer (State and Posture Changing Defenses as well as Melee/Ranged Defense, 2040 Medic (First Aid and Stimpack D's)

1st person = tank. Why? Heavy damage dealer with power hammer and capped melee defense as well as near cap state/posture changing defenses. If you want the meditative line in Teras Kasi then drop 2000 in medic and just go 0040 but first aid is crucial for elders, because of the 400+ tick bleeds they are able to stick.

2nd person - Master Rifleman (Headshot 3), Master Swordsman (Headhit 3), 4440 Fencer (State and Posture Chaning Defenses as well as Melee Defense and Defense Acuity)

This combination will tear an elder and any krayt to pieces in a matter of minutes. Get speed capped on swordsman and get your friend speed capped on rifleman, as well as an Acklay Hammer or 2 with 700+ damage and your friend a T21 with a 30% or higher damage slice for maximum damage.

That's what I can give you bud. Good luck!

yup

Wow Taona, this duo rocks! Thanks for the info. Plus, my friend and I discussed it and I get to be the tank! I'll probably go with the meditate line as I miss being able to heal my own wounds/poison, etc. Plus if we can take things down as quickly as you say, good stim b's should do the trick (hopefully).

Thanks again!

Best combo, this is what I use, is a Master Swordsman for tanking and a Master rifleman/swordsman for doing damage and tank if needed. It quite easy, when he tanks, I pullout my T21 hand head shot it away kills it very fast. If were in the geno caves, I use my PH since they kill the Kwi's and Kilinick faster (Im speed capped on both).

I am posting this in all the related forums and I really do appreciate any help that can be given.

I am a Master Doc/ Master Swords and I am in a guild of mostly crafters. Some of my guildies do have combat trees filled in but no one else has mastered an Elite combat prof. My question is, for mostly solo hunting of big game (read: Krayts, GDK's and NS Elders) would Rifleman or Swords be a better profession?

Now I'm sure that even in a 2 man situation Rifle would be better. I could have my partner tank and I could shoot at range and run in and heal them when they need it. But if I'm solo which is better?

Rifle has that nice AP3 but swords has more mele toughness/defence.

Any help or advice is appreciated.

if your talking big game solo oriented CH is like custom designed to compliment rifles. the only reason i dropped CH was to pursue jedi. i was able to take out GDK krayt etc with relative ease. but it DOES take practice and requires novice brawler to maintain intimidate plus specialized pets tailored to tank.

the problem with rifles is the lack of mitigation for melee. so you need something other than you to take the damage. you CAN use conceal shot but that nasty 1 point bleed can make things ugly at the worst times.

Having done both, I'd say swords is better...

for big game both are good. but if u speed cap swords they own and also swords does massive abouts of dmg to multiply targets at once when running missions etc, so out of the 2 I'd go for swords myself
