I had a look at the FAQ and it doesn't explain how to look after the plant and make it grow. Can someone pls tell me or point me to a post.

First, let me qualify.

I have 3 Aurilian Plants now, 2 are growing steadily, 1 is being a real pain.

1st There are 3 stats that you need to pay close attention to and2 to reference.

Plant Stage (The plant name) - Small Aurilian Plant, Aurilian Plant, Large Aurilian Plant (reference it)

Plant Health - Reference it don't let it fall to dead (duh)

Growth Rate - Pay Attention to it

Water Level and Nutrient Level - Track them

There are 22 settings for water and 22 setting for nutrients so 484 setting per phase of growth. That is very key, per stage of growth. As the plant grows, the settings change. The settings to achieve Extraordinary Growth for a Small Plant will no doubt be different for a Normal Size Plant and different still for a Large Plant. The settings for water are :

Waterlogged *b* Waterlogged *a*

Drenched *b* Drenched *a*

Very Wet *b* Very Wet *a*

Wet *b* Wet *a*

Moist *b* Moist *a*

Normal *b* Normal *a*

Below Normal *b* Below Normal *a*

Dry *b* Dry *a*

Very Dry *b* Very Dry *a*

Arid *b* Arid *a*

Desert-like *b* Desert-like *a*

The Settings for Nutrients are :

Barren *a* Barren *b*

Fallow *a* Fallow *b*

Miniscule *a* Miniscule *b*

Very Low *a* Very Low *b*

Low *a* Low *b*

Normal *a* Normal *b*

Above Normal *a* Above Normal *b*

High *a* High *b*

Very High *a* Very High *b*

Rich *a* Rich *b*

Fertile *a* Fertile *b*

You should be able to paste those lists into an Excel Spreadsheet, or onto some graph paper to create a 22 x 22 grid to track the growth rate at the intersection of 2 settings. See my example here : Aurilian Plant Image

Every Plant is different. As I said, I have 3, all 3 have different settings.

My plants update about once an hour. I have updated the setting as much as 10 times in one day to find the best setting I could for the current stage of growth. You should first set your house to Private if you are going to have your plant out in the open. When your house loads into the world, your plant will most likely (not always) update and consume some water, nutrients, or both. So until you find the correct settings, keep your house private.

One person said that high quality resources make it grow, I have not observed any difference in the quality of Nutrient (almost anyorganic) or Water making a difference in growth. I would not rule it out, I jsut have not seen a difference. I am using leathery hide with an OQ of around 150 for the nutrient and water with an OQ of about 50. I have seen normal growth and continuous growth using these poor resources. Normal was as high as it got, becausethe plantsevolved before I could find a higher setting. I suppose you could select settings to reduce the health of the plant to continue searching for a better setting, but the goal is to get the plant to a large plant in perfect condition.

Now this is the part that screws people up. The growth rate is the rate achieved by the settings you selected before the plant updated. Your plant will start out with Good Health, No Growth rate, and normal water normal nutrient settings. When you drop it in your house, it will begin it's update cycle. Start by finding a setting that gives you at least Very Slow or better growth. It is important that you verify this setting, as you will want an emergency setting if your plant starts going to fair, wilted, or severely wilted health. I suggest making changes from what has been termed as 'A' setting to the next 'A' setting first. By this I mean that an 'A' setting is the lower setting of each pair. As you see above, there are 2 Moist Water settings and 2 Wet Settings. You would be at Wet 'A' if you removed water from the plant and the water level continued to say Wet. Removing water once more would take you to Moist 'B' then to Moist 'A'. The same follows for the Nutrient Settings. You would progress from Low 'B' to Low 'A' then Very Low 'B' and Very Low 'A' by removing nutirents. The act of Adding water or Adding Nutrients actually adds 25 Units of Water or 25 Units of Nutrient in a Normal Aurilian Plant. So you are going to go through some resources. Decide where to start your search for the best setting, for example start with Water Level Wet 'A' and Nutrient Level Low 'A' make a note on your chart that you made this setting at whatever time. Then go do something else, like grinding exp. for a good hour and a half or so... or just log out for and hour or so. When you come back to your house, assuming it is private and you were the last one in it an hour or so ago, it will reload the contents into the world. About 5 minutes after it loads into the world, it will update. By this, I mean it will update the growth rate based on the settings of water and nutrient it had when it last 'unloaded/reloaded'into/from the world. So, if you follow, the growth rate is 1 step behind the water/nutrient settings.

Continue manipulating the settings until the plant evolves to the next stage, then start your search for the best settings for the new stage. After it reaches a Large Aurilian Plant stage, it will bear fruit if it is in a positive state of growth and perfect condition.

Hope this helps someone.

only in SWG can growing a plant be more complex then hunting bounty marks, or 3 quarters of the quests or grinding to cl80 or GETTING GLOWY

Ugh! I give up, I can't justify paying for this any more.

The plants in UO weren't easy either. I was a 7x GM on all my characters and had played for a couple of years, had millions in my account. Had played just about every skill...

Yet it took me 3 months just to grow some damned plants. hehe.
