Uberest meat ever indeed.

And notice that it's from DATH! Not freakin' Tat or Corellia. Bah.

Therefore, we are saved by faith.
Nothing we do, however virtuous, can be accomplished alone.
Therefore, we are saved by love.

Therefore, we are saved by the final form of love which is forgiveness.

Especially with the new solo grp nerf coming into place shortly, it is important to try and keep your server economy in check. Sure we can pay through the roof for meats and then charge through the roof for buffpacks...for us, we loose no profit and as you rightly state: I neither have ever heard of anyone not making any profit from the sale of an enhance pack. But i do feel it's important to look outside 'our economy' and into the server wide economy....imo hyper-inflation of any market/economy can never be a good thing in the long run. Especially in light of the solo nerf....we may not feel the affects of this, working mainly as crafters (with possibly large bank balances already in place). But to the average Doc/Person 'on the street', hugely inflated buffpack prices could cause a real problem. My final point would be, it is also important to remember that certainly from my experience, most Rangers/Scouts actually collect the meats and then distribute them at the end of the spawn.

I don't think so... As I see it, two main forces are at work. The main one is the remarkable availability of extracted resources. Last November, I was out there with a couple of personal harvesters on that good class 4 petro. Now, when something important pops, between my lots and those of friends or paid miners, I might have 40 heavy harvs on it. And the same with everyone else. So there's lots of everything, and it's cheap. Much more so than before. The days of paying 100 cpu for Class 4 petro are gone forever, because there's 10 billion units of it out there -- ya' just have to find someone to sell it to you.

But that's only one factor keeping overall costs down. The other is simply longevity. In this game, the longer you exist as a crafter, the cheaper it becomes to produce top quality product. For one simple reason: the ratio of things that you have either harvested yourself or purchased at a negligible cost (and 3 cpu is negligible when you're selling something for 60 cpu) to things that were expensive to acquire increases over time (assuming decent business practices...). Every time a good new doc resource spawns, our costs have all dropped.
Alright. So that was a really long-winded way of saying: you're right, hyper-inflation is bad, but I don't think it's happening to docs, in spite of the perception of rapidly rising costs.

Likewise, i agree with what you say

However, of course we can only speak for the situation on our own servers...
But certainly on my server the days of paying 100 CPU for a Class 4 Petro are by no means, long gone. Currently the best available Class 4 on Euro-Chim is "Carbocroisri" (It's a funny name, so you might have to excuse my spelling ) and i just bought 100k of this the other week at 80 CPU....that was a good deal tbh. It has been going on the forums recently for atleast 100 CPU. Then there is Lok Wheat...well we havnt had a good spawnn of that for ages..."Mobesta" the best available is almost extinct on the market. Naturally, i am talking about the best resourses and in a lot of cases it is much easier to big up a 2nd or 3rd class resourse. That said, especially in the Class 4 dept...it's a nightmare. Now i will say, these issues as far as i can tell, do not affect the price of packs....to a great extent. However, any of those resourses, as expensive as they are...are not in the same league as Avian Meat when it comes to CPU. The best ever spawn on our server, as i mentioned earlier is now being bought for 300 CPU by most Docs, 250 CPU minimum (strictly speaking) and something with a value as high as this...does for me have the potential to really inflate the price of the end product. In this case i think we are seeing that. I remember when the meat spawned and i logged it into SWG Craft....best ever on the server...a real cut above the last spawn. I started talking to some of the other guys (big producers), asking them what we thought we would be selling these packs for...."200k" we said, only 50-60k more than the previous (much less powerful) packs. At that time of course, everyone was offering 150 CPU, we all went in at that price. Of course i saw it coming in truth and within a day it was 200-250 We asked ourselves the same question....infact, more accuratly i asked some of the other guys for their pricing scheme on these packs, at that point.....250k...so thats a 50k increase and baring in mind that everyone was buying the previous meat packs at around the 140k mark, this was a more than noticable increase. Naturally, when your server best meat spawns...like you mentioned, you can expect an increase in price. But as i have explained, the hyper-inflation with relation to the price of this Avian has for me, taken the price up by atleast 50k and as you quite rightly outlined, meat prices have been rising from the start....unfortunatly, i dont see any chance in this trend. Of course, if the CPU on a spawn does inflate massivly, it is perfectly understandable/expected that us Docs will raise our prices accordingly. But i really hope that in the future, we dont let it get that far....we hold back and show some financial restraint. We will make our profit as always and the customer will get a better value buffpack

Alright, I think I see where you're coming from. The cost -- and therefore price -- of the best possible packs keeps going up, with no end in sight. Or thereabouts.

But at the same time, as the servers age, a mid-range market for somewhat subpar stuff emerges and grows...

First of all, it sucks that your petro is that expensive.

We were in the same situation not long ago (best-ever spawn was maybe a month and a half ago now, 2nd best was november), but over time the difference between the best and second best petro diminished greatly. First it was a 10+ point difference, then a6 point difference, then a 4 point difference, then a 2 point difference, and now it's still a 2 point difference between first and second, and a 4 point difference between second and third. So there was a brief time when the stuff from november was 100+ cpu, although only a couple of people really bought significant quantities at that price (not me ). When the difference became 4 points, it made no sense to pay even 50 cpu for something when the next best was 3 cpu (except, of course, for high-margin stuff like janta packs... mmm...).

And avian... Yeah, the price of the best avian meat, or even the best 2 or 3 avian meats, is probably going to stay pretty high. I imagine the 1105 cpu record isn't going to fall soon though... And so the 2500-plus, 3-hour plus buffs that we all want to have looking pretty on our vendors are probably going to stay expensive. But packs made with the best meat are really luxury items -- no one needs buffs that good.

Typically, there are usable avian spawns that are either missed, or purchased quietly by those paying attention. When there's no public demand, the price is lower. Similarly, when there is public demand but an awareness that the meat is mediocre (but on an easy planet), the price stays low. I certainly know that, sitting next to the avian meat for which I paid 7 or 800 cpu, I also have quite a bitfor whichI paid less than 100 cpu..

And so you make cheap packs. You use second-rate avian, and second-rate subs (or good ones, provided they're cheap). The cost difference is absolutely astronomical, and not at all reflected in thedifference in quality or price. And, if you get lucky and find a low-power /high-duration meat, they'll just fly off the shelves...

That's pretty much it. I'mpretty confident in the ability of the scout and ranger community to continue to supply enough meat that the price of non-top 5 meat stays in the 100-150 range, which will mean there will always be packs in the 15k range, and the un-rich will be taken care of.

Best way to do it. spend the 15 bucks on an alt. if not utilize your guilds. I have never paid for avian meat yet. i drop harvestors for friends who have no lots and they gather meat. i give free buffs to guildies and get meat. these people are nuts to pay 550 for 1 unit of meat. thats easier than janta missions.

These two meats are from a while back. We had Pisro first, and about a week or twoafterPisro went out of shift, Aieprema popped up. this was many months ago now and finding larger quantities of either of these two is getting pretty hard to do.

Highest Ive seen was 250CPU for Avian meat on Bria Galaxy. That was maybe a month ago when we last got 900+ on OQ and PE.
