Thread: Line Management is crazy-difficult! Any tips?

One Word: HAVLA. It cuts buff times down a hell of a lot.

Managing customers is hectic enough without trying to manage some kind of physical "line". The major drawback is that you are relying on a bunch of rowdy gamers to actually conform to etiquette. Yeah, right

Here are some basic guidelines that work for me:

1. Always group with your droid. For some reason, you get spammed with requests to join a group unless you do.

2. Never use Havla. You can buff 4 players really quickly, sure. But Havla stomach filling duration is 60 minutes. If you use it, people back in the line are going to get pissed that you aren't buffing them as quickly.

3. Set up as AFK and have an AFK message that is identical to yourSpatial ad.

4. Always work off BANK TIP ONLY. It organizes your line management and gives you a written record of who has paid and how much. Thereare always going to be players who tip you 1200 credits and then say"oops, dropped a zero!". There are also always going to be players who tip you 5K, and won't say a thing unless you catch them at it. Then it's always "Please, bro? PLEASE????". Much easier to catch these if you buff according to email receipt.

5. I have my spatial ad set up in my buffing macro. Ifinish a set of enhancements and then the macro automatically shouts for customers. I've never had a single person bad-mouth me for spamming my Buff ad. With the macro timing, it works out to about one ad per 2 minutes. Folks who have just zoned in or who missed it will send me a tell and get the same info in my AFK auto-reply.

6. I set my System Messages chat tab up like one of the other posters. I only read System Messages and Instant Messages in it. If something is going on in the guild that I need to be a part of, I will temporarily enable that. I have the Action/Health/Stamina/Quickness/Constitution/Strength words set in chat color options as Red names. Helps me keep track.

7. I have a couple of additional /shout macros set up to run manually when needed. One ismy LINE CLOSED macro, the other is "Doc needs a quick pause for the cause! AFK 2 minutes! Thanks for your patience "

8. I buff guildies for free. But I require them to send an email and get in line like everyone else. I NEVER take additional credits to move folks upin the buffing order. Keeps my life simple

9. If I have time, I try to let people know who's next. If it's a really long line, I'll say something like "XXXX is next, then YYYY". This calms down the customers who have been waiting the longest, and reduces the amount of tells about "Did you get my tip? I sent it like 10 minutes ago!!!". Also, if the line is really long, I try to manually let people know that I appreciate their patience, and that I'm working as fast as I can. If the line gets over 20 minutes long (about 10 people), I try to let people know. If there is another doctor buffing, many will then tip them instead for the shorter wait. It's just common courtesy to do this.

10. I heal wounds freeif the line is short. Otherwise, I don't heal them at all.

Hmm, that's about it. I do rattle on, don't I?

I always use the bank tip system to build up my line.

But pay attention to the scammers that send you a false bank tip.

So most of the time if I'm not in a laggy place (and i'm not getting 30 tips at the same time), i keep my inventory open and reduced in a corner of the screen to see that my money increases with each bank tip.

Saved me from a couple scammers already, and i've only been Mdoc for 2-3 weeks (and not buff/spamming that much).

Most of the time these are noobs that apologize and do a real tip once they're caught red handed.

hope it helps

Wow... It's crazy trying to manage 10+ people waiting for you.

Hehe, once I had 3x that many people in my line and I was the only Master Doc

Hehe...Once I had 3x's that many people and to make things even worse I was the only Master Doc at the Dantooine Mining Outpost that day That was real crazy, but fun, I think when I finished I had something like 700k and I originally had like 400k

Sorry about that post above I pressed a button and didn't mean to

So there is someone else like me? Who are all these other freaks talking about their lines and charging for buffs? They seem to have taken over the Doctor board with their chatter.

I dont take tips for buffs, healing, rezzing or anything else like that.. I have a vendor that i sell packs from and some other 'side' ventures *shiftyeyes* for cash... I dont think bad about anyone that does, though... to each their own.. I actually feel sad that they spend their game time buffing in front of the starport

Personallly, I choose to concentrate on using my abilities in other areas... like tagging along to Ft. Tuskan, DWB and NS Caves... the players are grateful and I always walk away with some form of uber loot I can then sell for cash if I need it...

And please don't post saying Docs should buff elsewhere.

Was only a suggestion not to buff in coronet. Didn't mean to offend neone, i always suggest that docs new to buffing in public not go to coronet first just because it can be very overwhelming if you're not use to it. It was just a friendly suggestion, not trying to be offensive in some way.

Theres some good points in here, I really dont understand why you'd use the mail system to determine your buff line though. doesnt make sense.. but, hey each to their own i suppose..

From my experiences:

Firstly Change the font colour of the system messages to orange.. makes like nice! and easy! when scrolling back through the spam looking for tips.

I always write down on paper, my pocket, and bank balance whilst im mid buff.. this way i can keep an eye on two things; 1: that the money has been tipped 2: how many people ive buffed

For a giggle, you could always run round and buff all the people of the same faction as you who are standing at the end, or near the end of the buff line.. for free! - ive done this several time now, mainly when im drunk though i dont even ask for tips, but they still do..

Iuse lines and it works pretty well. If it starts to become a mob scene I kindly ask them to organize themselves because iI dont want to hear complaints about who was there first(low tolerance for whine).

I dont take bribes. I dont care if you're willing to pay 65-100k (no kidding) for a buff to keep from being #20 in line. That 100k is not worth the many tells I would get from people whining.

My afk message has all the details as does my bio regarding my buffs, costs, stats, etc.

I never spam that I am buffing. Unless you're a cross-eyed drooling idiot you can tell I am buffing by the droid and the line. The only time I do spam is to state that a specific player in line is my last customer. (2 hours of non-stop buffing is really too much).

I never take havla unless Im buffing for a raid. Its not worth the full tummy.

Really stupid question from a nowhere near Master Doc yet, but hey do you spot if a bank tip is false? Is it very obvious.
