Thread: Enough of the Buffing Cost complaints

I wish someone would please explain to me why anyone would EVER complain about paying 30K for a buff when they just stated they could make 500K with no problem by the time the buff runs out. It just blows my mind. If I was skilled enough to make that kind of money being buffed I would have no problem paying 100k for a buff.

When I first got into buying buffs I had a friend of mine too cheap to want to buy them. I then explained to him when I paid 10k for a buff I got it back in one mission by doing the picket missions for 9K. When he finally tried it he saw I was right about being able to make his money back and then some. So you making 500k during a buff run how the hell do you complain about the cost of any buff. Explain it for all of us to see.

He he he... okay how about we simply charge people 10% of their mission fee's during the time the buff lasts

Course would mean the Devs would have to do a lot of extra programming just so we could make sure the clients were not screwing us, but helll it's worth it!!!! Start a new campaign, mission tracker for Doctor's Clients!

Three things, observations really:

1) I buy my buff packs. I enjoy crafting, but the non-stop looking for non-existent spawns of rare materials kinda turned me off. 5 sets of packs cost me about 450k. Figure half a case of Bivoli, and a few Havla's, you could have about 500k invested in 150 buffs. Charge 10k for a buff, and you make 1.5 million, 1 million profit for about 5-6 hours of work? I've had worse days as a harvest monkey.

2)My normal price for a buff is 10k. Buff is MU89, about 840 power, making it your average 2356/2425 3hr-10 min buff. I also have some 930 power buffs that I will pull out in some instances but will always charge 13-15k for those premium buffs. The other night was my first experience with "getting mobbed for buffs" at the Dantooine mining outpost. Apparently, I was the only doctor. What a horrible experience!!! In that instance, I didn't hesitate to raise my prices to 15k for a normal buff figuring if they wanted to wait 45 minutes, they can pay. Nobody complained, about the times, about the price. They just paid and sat there. Supply and Demand, it works. So, yes, under certain conditions, you can raise prices and get away with it. There was even one guy that gladly paid 20k without asking, I think he was an ex-doc, he knew my pain.

3) With that said, I will say that 10k for the stuff we sometimes have to endure seems a little paltry. From the guy that is in an "extreme hurry, buff me next", to the constant /tells for price, quality, line length, line LIST, "can't you hurry?", " do my buddy and me together"; 15k seems a little more reasonable. Especially when you say " no more buffs ", and you get the people that say "buff me for 20k", I always do cause thats where the real money is.

I'm not doing this for the money, I can make more doing Janta missions or enraged rancor missions with good loot. I think I truely enjoy buffing people, just not in the mob scene that sometimes occurs when you're the only doc. At that point, I'd rather take on 6 rancors with a low mind pool anyday. And from here on out I won't hesitate to raise prices as supply demands.

As someone mentioned, not everyone get buffs to run 30k missions. There are plenty of people who get buffs that aren't yet masters and can't make that kind of money. There are people who get buffs for PvP and risk loosing them long before the duration runs out. And there are people who get buffs and go off to Dath to hunt nighsisters or whatever hoping for that special loot, but hardly get anything worth selling.

So, yes, moneygrinders doing janta/mokk missions earn back the money for a buff in a heartbeat, but a PvP'er who gets killed after half an hour.. 30k?

That is the risk people take...if they decide to chance their luck and PvP, that is their decision, that is not our problem. THey can either make credits with the buff or throw it away..that's their prerogative. That's my 2 cents. For crying out loud, I used to pay 10K just to put my armor on, completely waste the buffs, but I was willing, and I needed it , so I paid it.

**Sunrunner** i charge 15k for buffs and i get no complaints.. i usually tell people that 10-15k is reasonable and anything over that is questionable depending on the circumstances...people understand that buffs are rare and that avian meat in out of good spawn....if someone does complain..i just ignore them cause they don't understand what doc's go through...or try to logically explain to them our recent situation concerning buff packs...most buff vendors have raised their prices to the demand...which in turns causes more docs to raise their prices...if your on dantooine mining outpost i would think that charging more than 15k is reasonable since most people there are there to hunt and most of them hunt 26-36k missions..and only takes them 5 mins to do...its just the price has been 10k for so long when people start raising their prices they don't want to pay more and complain...Ceasar master doc/ pistoleer

I just got master doctor.

question why are prices so high? we are pricing ours selves out of bussiness.

we need to slow the prices down from resources all the way through.

we are hurting ourselves by making things to hard to afford.

i cant locate the high quaility stuff and when i buy pre made buffs a bag is 150k and only 2 hours on the buffs. folks complain and no way will they pay 10k

so i go in the hole major .

we really need to help each other not gouge.

I agree with the strike thing. Hell, UPS can do it, why can't we? I guarantee people would pay more.

Not being sarcastic, but I think you just answered your own question.

It isn't all about the price of resources. It's also the cost of time (crafting and buffing), the cost of hair transplants after a buff session, and most importantly, opportunitycosts.

Opportunity costs and time costs are way too high for a knowledgeable doc with an advanced combat prof to even consider buffing at anything less than 30k a pop (especially if you take the time to craft your own packs), unless you truly love public buffing as a social activity. Go do Janta or Enraged Rancormissions, pick up a million in payouts, cool loots for even more credits and compare it to how much you make buying packs and buffing in the SPs at 10k per.

Gouging? Don't know how resources are on your server and how the docs there price it but I seriously suggest that you make an effort to craft just one set of 900Pwr packs from scratch. It really opens eyes.

I won't buff the public but I have nothing against people wanting to public buff at8k or less. People will always have different priorities and opinions. But they should also respect the rights of those who choose to buff at the price that they think is appropriate compensation for their efforts. Supply and demand will take care of the rest.

I don't think there's any chance of the doctor community as a whole pricing itself out of business in the near future.

Walk into any populated city with a doctor tag and you'll be swamped with tells immediately.

Depending on what it contains, and if it ever happens, the combat balance may hurt demand for buffs, but that's about it.

And I'd wait until you can find buffs with competitive stats before you start buying very many of them, like you said the low quality ones are hard to sell and probably not worth your time to buy if you're intending to sell them.

100k/set? hahaha, wat a joke! add up ONLY the meat prices, avian at 100cpu and herbat 50cpu, how much is one set??
