Ok i understand the part of leaving out the pe on the first exapmle and all the averaging stuff but say Im looking for the best resources for an ABEC which call for two sets of effectiveness dependencies?

I read buddies FAQ but no offense guy im an unmatriculated idiot your FAQ looked superb but I need this explained a little more layman if possible. I've been wondering why my results were getting skewed so any help would be muchly appreciated.

Thankx,

You think that it actually makes separate "rolls" to determine the success on each stat when you experiment that line? Hmmm... I always assumed that the "great success" would apply equally to both, but you could be right (and it could help explain why there are reports of stats moving in opposite directions on a "success").

It definitely makes seperate rolls. Or so the "rumor mill", and my rumor mill is extremely reliable *hint* *hint*, would claim.

Well, this shouldn't be too hard to test either... given some cheap subcomponents and good organic and inorganic, one should be able to pin down what is happening by playing with Enhance A packs (no avian meat required).

You could do one experiment point at a time and track how big the move is for each stat on each type of success. It should be simple to determine if they move independently.

If the decay resistance really stunk, yet the OQ and PE were good, you would have enough difference in the two formulas to see if one caps out before the other as well.

It would be good to find out, but I think you are right on this one. I get a sneaking suspicion that it probably just caps the lower one where it would normally be capped based on what the OQ/DR combo would be.

The quantities are irrelavent, of that I am 99% certain. Just like th quantities of component are irrelavent. It only read teh stats from 1 thing in the stacks, whether that is resources or components, and that is all that matters. So your first equation would be the correct one.

Thats a great FAQ, but I still have one question I have not seen addressed anywhere.

What if you have a schematic that requires unequal amounts of resources? For example several of the CM schemes require 4 non-ferrous, 10 fungi and 15 chemical. Do you just add up the OQ (or whatever) in equal amounts or do they get weighted?

Scenario #1 - (Non-ferrous+fungi+chem)/3000 = some percent

Scenario #2 - (((non-ferrous*(4/29))+(fungi*(10/29))+chem*(15/29)))/3000 = some potentially very different percent

I amcreating a spreadsheet using some of Excel's higher functionality to be able to automatically select the "best" resources to use and am looking for some input.

Thanks
