I held all comments prior to the release. I waited till I tried it. Well now I have tried it. I don't like it at all. Its not fun. It doesn't make sense. I'm not going to pay for it. I will give it 2 weeks to improve, after that should it still be unfun (which it probably will be) then I will cancel my accounts and go try WoW or Lineage. They seem to hold a larger market share, so must have something going for them. And I better get a refund on the rest of the year that I've pre-paid for.

---------------

My master doc who has a touch of merchant and brawler 2-handed level 4 is a higher combat level than a master swordsman. Totally crazy.

My master doctor can't even use a pre-curb stim D due to not being COMBAT level 60. What does being able to kill something have to do with administering medication? Crazy.

I have different resource requirements for my bio now in order to make the "enhancers". One takes 200 avian. So 10k of avian will yield me 50 items. It took a long time prior to get that much avian and now with the combat changes its unrealisitc and not affordable to produce. So folks that think Bio have it made are mistaken. Most won't have the combat skills needed to get their animal resources. Prices on those *buffs* will go up drastically due to the resource requirements and difficulty hunting. Its just not worth my effort. I consider the whole situation "unfun".

-------------

Those of you who find the changes enjoyable - Good for you. I hope you continue to enjoy the game. I'm not being sarcastic either. But don't be cold-hearted to those of us who do not enjoy SWG now.

Here are some links so folks can get a little better educated on the impact of Curb and SWG...

how in the heck are we suppose to rez over and over in the village grind...phase 4 i think.... where the docs have to heal over and over and quickly, and then on top of that you have to be able to defend yourself from pirates and thugs, so you hit, wait 5 sec, heal, wait 5 sec, hit, wait 5 sec, heal urself, dont forget to untarget yourself to heal yourself or you get the invalid target , then all the while defend and run across the village to rez some one all while you have about 5 high lvl mobs constaly shooting at you (how come they dont have a timer?)...but wait tka no longer can defend thenselves while running so i have to take damgae all the way over there, using my crappy buffs and hope that they dont run out, then wait 20 sec for the rez meter to go up and then "hope they get rezz'ed all the while fighting and healing...hmmm not happening.

You are not supposed to kill-rez for easy FS xp in the village, if that is what you are referring to. I'm not
If you are talking about the pure phase 4 medic quest:
You just need to heal different people _while they are in combat_. It doesnt matter how much you heal or if you heal them once or twice, touch them one time while they are in combat and you get credit for it.

thats great team playing ... oh sorry i already healed you a little i have to get someone else now, so i can get xp.

Well, I'd like to remind you that we (that includes you too, btw) are not paying for Devs making themselves happy (or even Lucas). We are paying for Devs making US happy. And dont draw parallels with the movies, I really fail to see a correlation. This game is interactive environment, so the details mean more to us here, than in the movies. This is a game we play, so no, it is our story to tell, not the Devs'.

PS: And before you're telling me to not get too excited "because it is only a game", let me remind you that it is RL time and RL money we invested in this game.

Once again, I think you've highlighted the problem. You think "us" is everyone like you and I when really it's more like the casual gamer. A silent majority of such. I believe it's the developer's responsibility to make a game that will grab an audience and wont let go. It's also a developer's responsibility to sell the game and I think that is what they're going for here. To get a wider range of players. I think that means if the developers have to let go of a certain group of hardcore players to get more player in here, then so be it. I agree with this. The big picture is more Galaxies for everyone for a longer time. That sounds pretty good to me.

"And dont draw parallels with the movies, I really fail to see a correlation."
Well, I guess it's both of our faults that you fail to see the connection. I'm sorry I can't explain it better, but I know what I'm trying to say and I see the logic in it.

"This is a game we play, so no, it is our story to tell, not the Devs'."
As much as I wish this was correct, you need to understand that, at this point, you have no control over this combat upgrade. Either make your peace with it and find a way to have fun continuing your story or don't play and save yourself the headache the game is obviously giving you.

"And before you're telling me to not get too excited "because it is only a game", let me remind you that it is RL time and RL money we invested in this game."
And keep in mind no one has forced you to spend that money and time. No one is forcing you now. If you're gonna talk about investing real time and real money, I have a secret to tell you. Galaxies will eventually end. All the real time and money, you will never recoup it. You will never have anything to show for it. Yes, it is only a game and you seem to take it far more serious than it is. Have fun while it's still here.

Im not going to side with antiCU or proCU but i will reinforce what RogueGeek said here cause it is the truth.

1. We are not paying the devs to make us happy. We are paying them to play their game.

2. George Lucas made a movie for the masses to enjoy. SOE made a game for the masses to enjoy. If you dont enjoy it, do not pay to experience it. Just because star wars has become damn near a religion doesnt meant that we control what Lucas does with his movies--in that same way we do not control what the devs do. If they want the game to go to hell it will. They will do what it takes to make money.

3. This is not "OUR" game. This is their game and we do what we can with it within the boundaries they have set up. If we cant derive pleasure from it, we dont pay for it, and we dont play it.

4.When you stop playing galaxies....either because it has shut down....or because you have to quit (say to go to school, or to start a family)you will get nothing back for the time and money you have invested in the game. Unless of course you sell your account, in which case your ability to craft stims is not going to matter.

Speak with your cancel button, because as long as they have enough continuing subscribers to meet their sales goals, things wont change. It is what i did along with so many others this past winter, and now i hear of a gcw patch, a cu patch, and a new expansion with a new planet. Things are at least being done so i have come back to check it all out.

Ahem. Someone needs a little work on their bedside manner.

Have some compassion, for cripe's sake. The people in this thread have a right to be upset. We all know this to be true, for only people with major attachment disorders could be so cold about losing ig friends to this CU, not to mention huge emotional investments into what was.

The problem is, we know you're right--there's no going back. The powers that be had reasons for doing this, and in order to please the alleged massed, certain players are getting the shaft. And because it is indeed LA/SOE's game, there's nothing to be done about it.

Meanwhile, people (the ones whogot shafted)who are taking this perceived, irretrievableloss personally--and there are many, many long-time players who are--are going through the various stages of grief. There's nothing wrong with that, is there?

So let them commiserate a while and get over the sting, without adding insult to injury, if you would. They're not flaming. And since this MMORPG world isa relatively new phenomenon, you shouldn't be so quick to defend everything you say with 'it's only a game'. Perceptually, for many, it's not just a game. They shouldn't be stomped on for having a higher ability to suspend their disbelief than others, unless it becomes disruptive, and I hardly see signs of that in the posts that preceeded yours.

Signing off for the very last time--

X

Who's cancelled all three accounts, and learned a very valuable lesson about MMORPGs... there's no way an entire player base can ever be happy with an engine, and no sense giving any gaming company money when the odds are the nerf bat'will inevitably swing at your melon all too soon.

Deal. Its a new game and should be approached with a new attitude. I lost my business just like you did and its all about perspective. Start fresh--the stuff your getting all huffy about are items in a GAME...get over it

Yeah I've heard that philosophy before..."if r a p e is inevitable...you might as well enjoy it right?"

Seriously though complaining won't change a THING. However it sucks that many of us were told that BE would lose the scout pre-req only to find out it didn't.

No big deal though, being a walking ambulance really holds no appeal to me so I'll probably drop MD soon, once I learn the details of the CU nerf...
