Thread: Hey Doctors This Is Why I Don't Tip You
Interesting thread ![]()
I gave up asking for tips a while back. Even when phrased nicely, it can come across wrong. Though I still think even a 20 credit tip is a nice way of saying thank you.
If players don't tip me, I remember, and they go to the bottom of my priority list. Conversely, good tippers go right to the top. (Duh!
)
Players who don't say thank you (twice) are on my "See how you enjoy natural regeneration" list.
For the player who started the thread, I both agree and disagree with you. I believe you are wrong to expect healers to wait before asking you if you'd like a heal. You're in a med center and you're not there for the coffee (altho at DA4 I make a mean cup of caf) - youre wounded and want to head back and play your game. You get no xp from healing your own wounds, so we're not "ninja-ing" you. However, I DO agree that getting healed up without asking and then having a tip demanded from you is wrong. PLAIN wrong... but I would expect a thank you, at the very least for saving you time and resources by using MINE.
As someone else stated, I think its great you are able to heal yourself and would definately ease the load when things get busy. But, if it were "my" Med Centerand you refused to acknowledge the medical assistance you had been given with a thank you, and then at a later date you surrendered your medical skills to advance in another skill set, then came back with 90% HAM wounds... guess what. Oh - and guess what Docs and Medics in the Med Center talk about while we wait for the next patient? Answer - rude players and good tippers. Not saying you ARE rude, just stating the perspective from the other side.
Med Center Docs/Medics are NOT there for the xp... the wait between patients means that XP is not a steady flow opposed to healing entertainers in a Cantina orgoing on missions with Pets/Melee classes. Plus the time in between heal wounds and heal damage is a factor of 5 or more. Sure, occasionally, the xp comes in furiously, especially for faction Docs after a PvP skirmish, but thats the exception not the rule.
Docs/Medics staffing the med center are there because ofthe social aspect, the good feelingfrom helping people, and/or tips - the xp is just an occasional by-product.Anyone who thinks otherwise, is ill informed (I teach Novice Medics that the Cantina is the way to go - and get "novice_medic tells you: Wow.! XP here is great! can you teach me X
"
If you don't tip (and I encourage you to tip anything you can afford - even 20 credits or 50 Organics or Inorganics!), at least have the courtesy to say thank you. As Med Ctr staffers, we don't expect to be rich - we DO expect (and I believe deserve)to be thanked.
daishan that is the lamest most crock of an excuse i ever heard..
medical center is caled a medical center so people can come and heal you dont want to be healed by someone go get a surgical droids and sit somewhere else.
i see someone in the medical center injured i wil heal he does not wantot be healed he can go somewhere else.
Honestly, if a player asks you NOT to heal them, you SHOULDN'T heal them. It common courtesy. If you think that anyone who wanders into the hospital is fair game, your sadly mistaken.
The hospital is a Public building for all players to use to heal up, meet up, and get some training. It isn't anyones personal house where they can set the rules.
I mean, honestly, healing someone who specifically tells you not to is (indeed, laughably) almost to the point of griefing.
As for the tipping issue, he's dead on. You heal someone who doesn't ask for healing and demand a /tip afterwards, you're fault. You can expect a /tip all you like, but I'll tell you from long, long experience...it usually doesn't happen.
Anyway, I think it's kinda a misnomer that the best med xp is the the hospital - it is by far in the field with groups (and even with pets [e.g. faction pets]).
I disagree with you slightly. The best way to get xp AND money is by far in the field but the best xp is either in the cantina or with a musician friend.
I haven't calculated it in awhile but I know when I was a Medic using Stim-C's (awhile ago) that I could get about 100 - 200 xp per Wound heal every 30 seconds in the med center. I could get about 50 - 150 xp per Stim heal every *3* seconds in the cantina. You do the math, by far the best place for xp alone is the cantina (assuming that there are any non-Master Dancers left that haven't gone tothe field in search of Creature Handler xp
)
Admittedly now that I have some really kick butt Doctor crafted D's the xp comes in slower because one click heals everyone completely and I have to wait for them to drop it again. By far the BEST xp is to find a musician that will sit and do BandFlourishes with you, if you haven't seen them drop 1200 action in 2 seconds then you are missing a show (and xp). I'm 1 bubble away from Master Doc and I lost a 5000 cr bet because I couldn't keep up.
Problem with BOTH is you DEFINETLY don't make any money.
