Traigus, I would accept your last point IF all of the planets had critters dropping avian meat. Until they fix all of the birds on Endor to have avian instead of herbivore meat and until they add any avians to Dant there is still a big hole in the availability of avian in quantity. 4of the last 6 good shifts on Valcyn have been on Talus or Rori--both awful places for a Doctor to go harvest meat on. The other 2 shifts were on Lok--where there are no critters dropping more than 17 meat per kill (prelek ravagers) for a 4040 scout. Not all of us have a willing PA or hunt in large groups to have a team of harvesters at work on these pathetic 1-5 meat dropping parakeets.

We should either have more higher end critters dropping avian or drop the restriction to use just avain in 5 of 6 enhancements. We already have several components that gate our production (no liquid petro 4in our galaxy at all now and no good quality for months, dolovite just popped in again recently).

People ask why I don't buff for money and I tell them that gathering enough good resources to supply myself and my RL friends is hard as it is. If I buff others even a fraction of as often as I am aksed to, I have none left over for us.

Resources are a pain for medics/docs and need some Dev attention.

The other point I meant to make is about rarity. Ostrine ore is a rare weapon smith component. It recently spawned for us and we mined 1 million units of it for my smith friend. So, even though it is a rare spawn, it can be gathered in huge amounts when it does appear. (Grats smiths btw, glad to see it spawning again!)

Contrast that with avian meat--we get a good shift and spend a week or two to gather a few thousand units after a tremendously boring time spent on unchallenging pigeons. I'd much prefer to have a harvester gathering organics for us while we go hunt more fun prey.

It is not rarity that makes theresource difficult, it is the limited ability to collect enough of it in a reasonable amount of time to make manufacturing a realistic option.

If you spot something dropping the wrong meat (like on endor) please be sure to bug report it in game. That is obviously the first case (cannot get at all). it is an easy case to get that on a list of things to fix. We want more... is harder.

click this link to see the top level avian animals, and which planet they reside on.

The Talus avian on Flurry was phenomenal lately (allrelevant stats over 900) But as MDoc/MCM/scout hunting1, it took me almost 8 days to harvest 8300 units (enough for a factory crate of 50 of each).

This is with my guildmates help. My guild is populated with rangers. Granted, we were filling an avian Naboo (2 over 900, other in the 400's) order too at the time (Talus for me, Naboo for our customers) so I couldn't totally dominate their time.

There are doctors advertising for 50cpu avian atm on Flurry. While I am all for supply and demand, when a Guild of Rangers can harvest less than 30k avian in a WEEKS time.... something needs to be done.

/start offtopic

To top it all off... I got home, put the avian in my med crafting hopper for safe keeping, and watched in horror as it disappeared! I got a CSR response in less than 24 hours (miracles do happen) and got it replaced. Logged in the next day to see that the 8300 units the re-imbursed me changed to an older (and FAR less valuable spawn) and submitted another ticket. Got another response in less than 24 hours (I'm looking for a lightning strike here... the odds would be better) and will hopefully get this resolved this weekend.

/end offtopic

But killing fynocks and rasps and gulginaws (even with master rangers helping) is still not enough... I'm not advocating doubling it or anything, but either bump it up a bit, or make some big mobs for each planet that would require a TEAM to take out... that would foster the interdependancy you so desire in this world you've created for us.

Maybe, but remember. The goal here isn't to have the best stuff available to everyone all the time.

Everyone that wanders by the starport should not be able to get a Buff D set easily and cheaply. High level Buffs are not a right for all players in the game, they are something that high level players must earn.

You guys arent listening, you cant drop a harvestor on a bird and go to bed and wake up with 1 million units of avian meat...

Get in touch with your local Ranger and pay him accordingly...

I joined my local ranger guild - they even made an exception to their "rangers only" policy.

I still think the rate for certain planets is too low. (read the above post)

I'm not asking for the best all the time, I'm asking for the good stuff in slightly higher quantities when it comes.

Perhaps you're not listening. Avian meat is worth its weight in gold on most servers. I've spent millions of credits over the last few days buying avian meat on Flurry. At 50 credits per unit for Talusian Avian Meat, I'm spending over 1000 credits per pack on just the meat. Of course, we all know that there are plenty of other resources that are required.

As I said earlier, I think the creatures that drop avian meat now drop the right amounts. I would like to see more large creatures that drop avian meat (actually, I'd just like to see more creatures, period).

The fact that you can't get avian meat on Dantooine or Endor isn't a huge deal to me. That still leaves 8 types of avian meat available at any given time. With that amount, you should be able to find something of decent quality at any given time. It might not always be great, but there should almost always be something worth harvesting.

I guess my biggest beef with hunting avian meat is the complete boredom of the process. With no birds requiring any sort of challenge (except maybe a large pack of giant pekos or an albatross), it's just not fun to hunt them. If there was some larger game, it might become a little more enjoyable.

We would all like bigger mobs everywhere. Ever try to get good herbivore meat form Corrillia.

Basically if you look at it the more civilized the planet the smaller the mobes, which actually makes sense.

It is not just avian but all resources. And sometimes you have to wait for it to get good on a planet with big mobs.

Also look at why buffs have the avian requirement in the first place as as well as the herbivore meat in the A-CDRM. It is because they are powerful. Anything powerful should be hard to make and require some real work to have it.

I never said I was listening. I never listen.

But, I hear too many comparisons to harvesting inorganics and organics.

I am basically agreeing with the poster, that the creatures don't drop enough per harvest. That's why I say your best bet is to hook up with Rangers.

As a former MASTER Ranger, I'm TELLING you, there is a SIGNIFICANT difference in their yeilds per harvest. If you grab 9 units off a bird a M R gets 29, don't quote me.

But the rate is still SIGNIFIANTY slower than any mineral gathering efforts.

So, yes, expect to pay out the whazzoo.

The people I am differing with are the ones who are claiming there is "plenty" of meat around.

Yeha, at about 10 times the aquisition difficulty as lets say, fiberplast...

You don't shoot at fiberplast and fiberplast won't attack you.

You don't have to risk your life, time, decay on items, insurance to get fiberplast.

You haven't seen some of the stuff that sits on my harvester.

Indeed, I had to clear out a lair of swarming dewbacks last night and I recall the days when the Tuskens would crowd around my factories...perhaps they were trying to keep warm during the cold Tatooine nights?
