now we get to the combat profs. They get to kill things for thier xp. They cap at 900k in which some claim to do in an hour. well thats a trip per hour compared to a trip per 15 mins. guess Docs should ride bikes more cuz we look like we like to cruise around or something. Im gonna use janta/mokk missions for this example. In that hour of "grinding" weapons and combat xp, you get approx 5k of weapons xp per kill on a janta or mokk. and with 5 mokks or jantas, that 25k of xp in a matter of approx 4 mins of work. And the BEST part is, you just looted some uber skill tape and an adhesive! Woot! That will sell for multi millions! and guess what else? you just got PAID around 30k credits to gain your xp! what a nice treat for you! you make it, docs spend it. sounds pretty fair. I mean Docs should have NO right to complain at all. We have the easiest XP of all!

Well to be honest if you can live without payouts on missions a combat type can travel around the village area and kill a LOT of nice spawns.. On bria the spawn rates are pretty nice due to the balance of people out there and those running around out there.. I could easily get buffed in the village, go out in circles and kill stuff for the entire run of my buffs and then go back in and train and keep that up as long as I wanted to...

no free money from the missions, but then only going 1-3k from the village cuts down on your turn around time..

But, I have a firm policy of no more than 1 in 2 days I am online is spent grinding, more like 1 in 3, I would rather spend time with my friends in game and have -fun- and not get burnt out on the whole thing than get done twice or three times as fast..

honestly all the FS skills are a bit lacking in bonuses. If you want your jedi get the boxes you need to get your jedi. The bonuses aren't really enough to covet over an ordinary player. Really, what's +4 crafting technique going togive you? how about +20 repair? The experimentation is a bit better then a research center but it doesn't stack with it....

You have to torch your character to become a jedi anyway so pick up a fighting prof and beat your way through it like almost everyone else. You can cap your fighting XP every buff and if you hold your master doc, you decide when you get buffed. You need to cap your weapon XP about 20 times per tree so that works out to 20 buffs.

If you are in this for the assembly bonus for crafting then good luck to you. If you are in this grind for a jedi then learn some fighting skills. The ranged and melee defence bonuses might be useful. Melee speed will be useful to the hammer carrying swordsman and the pikemen but not so useful to the TKs and fencers (maybe a bit here).

After you get your defence and maybe your speed trees just pick a couple more and do them. That luck thing might be cool...can't see it but why not take it? It can't be less useful the a +5 to camping. Hey one tree is dedicated to vehicular control.... Never realised I could get bonuses in that until I saw that tree...so I canaccelerate faster by +3 with that tree...aparently a tighter turning radius as well.....just what an aspiringjedi needs, a tighter turning radius for his swoop....

You need to get 6 trees. The XP caps and conversions will most likely not change. If you want to buff your pet 50000 times to get a jedi then go for it. If you want to kill 40000 Rancors then do it. This grind is not going to be easy and the payoff is not for a very long time. If you aren't prepared to adjust your template then you cannot have a jedi in the first place. If you are all glowy and like your template then go to the village every phase and do a quest to get a cool item as skip this foolish grind.

If you were planning on buffing or healing tumblers to get your jedi, what are you planning on doing to level your jedi? This jedi starts out very weak and you will most likely need to fall back on another profession in order to live (not die).

Are you going to haul out your crafting station your first encouter with a BH? Your initial Tonka version of a light saber isn't going to save you. It is quite likely that the BH hunting you will have his speed and defence bonuses; will you?

Or are you going to have a tighter turning radius and have a plus 20 to surveying?

After reading a couple threads on the subject, I just feel compelled to give my input. This thread is as good as any I suppose.
Do I believe the 80k cap is bull? yes.
What Im getting aggrivated reading is the people that are going up COMBAT xp lines telling Docs to quit whining.
Docs have one way to get FS xp and that is to heal/buff. Now I keep seeing this "get a tumbler" or "call pets" or "use an alt"
I guess Ill just pull the one out of my arse that Ive had for safe keeping.
Although I hate the fact that I have to ride to the village after oh 15 mins to turn in xp, then ride back again (see the tumbler/pet comment above) but its that it costs a doc a small fortune to do one single stinking tree.
you think we can just buff and heal with our good looks? no it takes meds. now I craft my own but I still have to pay for the meats, harvs, and factories to gather the material and make em. Sure I could just make crappy action packs but I dont have a pet to call to keep buffing ONLY action over and over.
I did just a little simple math. I took a 2600 buff pack (didnt consider cost of bivoli to reach this) and an average of 30 charges per pack. now for a doc who doesnt craft thier own, on eclipse youll probably spend around 24k for this one single pack of 30 charges. A 2600 buff gives roughly 1300 medical xp. so to cap on med xp @ 80k that is a little more than 60 buffs. seeing my packs do 30, thats 2 full packs to get there.. that just cost me 48k. and for my 48k I get a whole 8k of FS xp. now if you add up the millions of xp I need. well I leave the number counting to you to figure out how many credits are coming OUT of my bank account. If I dont wanna travel every 15 mins, I need to buff in the village. Well I guess Ill join the other 15 docs out there giving free buffs away, cuz yeah, my line will pick up charging 7k just to cover costs. Most likely if I stayed in the village to buff. Id have to give em away for free too just to be able to buff anyone.
now we get to the combat profs. In that hour of "grinding" weapons and combat xp, you get approx 5k of weapons xp per kill on a janta or mokk not even counting combat xp. and with 5 mokks or jantas, that 25k of xp in a matter of approx 4 mins of work. And the BEST part is, you just looted some uber skill tape and an adhesive! Woot! That will sell for multi millions! and guess what else? you just got PAID around 30k credits to gain your xp! what a nice treat for you! you make it, docs spend it. sounds pretty fair. It really ticks me off to hear these arguments coming from people who havent tried the other side.
Ill continue to make my 15 min trips I guess. I have no other choice really.
Flame me or one star me if youd like, but stop and really think about all things involved in the way Docs have to go about getting and converting medical xp, and ask yourself if you had to do all that, would it be as fair as an elite combat prof?

I agree... sort of.

I came to look at these forums because I've found the 80k cap to be far too small, although it's not the cap itself so much as the trips to the village that hurt.

In short, I don't want to grind. The advantage of the new system over the old holos is that we can play the game properly and have fun, with it steadily contributing towards a long term goal. We can max out in our chosen professions and it still counts. The problem is that a Doctor who spends a little over 20 minutes buffing at a starport has suddenly maxed out in XP, so the edifice collapses. You can only do a bit of what you're meant to do before it stops rewarding you.

To have to make a returndetour to the village afterevery 20 minutes of "normal play" kind of ruins it for me. Many people on these forums have said "it's easy - just grind Doctor in the Village" but for me, what's the point of playing then? I want to play a game, notgrind...

I like the new system, and I like the idea that Jedi is elusive and hard to reach. But the trips to the village after 20 minutes are a bit much. What would be great is if somehow you could convert your XP without going to the Village. That would sort it all out. But at the moment, Doctors who want to play the game (as opposed to grinding) whilst earning FS XP just can't do it.
