Thread: Dev Response to Top 5 Issues for October
Yay for fire extinguishers!
(There's two places on tatooine you can swim? i've only found one!)
I might be missing something here..... but really who cares about the buffing issue? Not me!!!!
Did anyone else notice that the Devs basically said... "No, No, and, maybe later" to our top 3 issues.
Buff overwriting means almost nothing to me and I dont really even want it........ if you think about it it seems like a way that Master Docs are gong to be getting screwed into giving FREE BUFFS over and over. I can see it now.. a trend of everytime a Doc buffs for under 1k people will want another one for free. And you KNOW Docs will do it too.. I mean how many Docs out there are already runing the medical market by selling Crate of 400+ Stim-B's for 35k???
Instead of worrying about and turning this thread into a 2 page debate about what to me is a bogus issue (overwriting buffs).... why dont we keep pusing for our top 3????
Yeah, that's my concern over re-buffing as well. We already have enough members of the community undercharging, either deliberately or just because they really haven't figured out the full costs, and slitting the throats of the economy for the rest of the Docs. I also see this one as being a convenience, but not a heavy hitter. This one was not one of my Top 10, though, that's for sure, but it was a big deal for others, so here it is.
The rest of the issues... that's just about how I read the responses as well. All I can say is that those are about the extent of the response I can get. At least we got one, right? ![]()
Overwriting buffs isnteven in my Top 50 issues!!!!!
If they are going to keep buffing amounts a crap shoot then why would they allow for rebuffing??? It is so stupid I dont even understand it. People are just going to keep rebuffing till they get what they want. Why not just make the buffs consistant instead.
This rebuffing IMO has got to be the wrost idea ever. Docs are going to be giving away 20 buffs for FREE for every 1 buff we sell.. you just watch.

While it may not be a Top Issue for you or I it is a Top Issue for a majority if Doctors out there. And this solution actually gets reccomended a LOT, especaially by those whoprefer the variability of buffs remain in place.
Those of us who wanted the consistent buff simply did not have enough of a majority to persuade out Dev that it would be worthwile to make such a large change as that. BUt that is what the vote process is all about. Sometimes an issue we may not agree with makes it intop the Top 5. Sometimes several Issues we really like make it up there, but some other folks hate seeing them there. (The Survey issue and Mind Damage come directly to mind.) That's why I do the vote, so that all of us have say in the matter of what's important for us as a whole.
While we can try to persuade our fellow Doctors to our own points of view, sometimes it just isn't possible and we are stuck having to grin and bear it. At least on many other occasions our issues will be the ones to get in there. I daresay that a majority of the issues will be ones that the majority of Doctors would agree with. (At least in the case of the first 3, at any rate.)
The nature of this player run economy is such that newer members climbing the ranks to Master often will feel the need to undercut and even give the items away. The fact is over the past few months the dwindling population in Medical Centers seems to lead to the fact that many non-healing characters are having trouble getting wounds healed let alone enhancments to their physical stats.
Players in guilds, or with a network of supporting friends, don't have this problem as a rule. In that event prices for enhancing stats will be low to negligible. The player out and about who has just died on Dathomir will be lucky to find a Master Doctor willing to enhance, let alone sell it. The feat that they will want rebuffs is justified but like every other sale, why would anyone expect duplicates? If I auction a holocron for 5 million am I liable for the fact an Expert Commando now has to Master Dancing? If you are selling your enhancments merely state you are selling six (6) stat enhancments and let the player choose (if you are selling a full set). If something doesn't work the way they want, they can fork over 1k for another try at the failed enhancment.
I think the developers really miss the boat on the mind healing for doctors though. This will be a major issue as everythng attacks the mind. Good lord, I had a wrix doing monsterous mind damage on me the other day; I can see the Imperial sharpshooter doing it, but a wrix? It used to be critters hit the health. Now you cannot go anywhere without your mind under fire. So cheers with my Ruby Bliel, since thats the best I can make now and onto Chef. lol
But seriously, again a great job Zarlor.
Thank you .
I am one of the docs that has the buffs as one of my major issues. Why?
Because, when I sit down to service a customer I want to give the best service I can so they feel they get their money's worth. When they know that they can get upwards of 2K per stat on a buff, they become anything from confused to pissed off.
So what can I do about this situation? Right now pretty much I can either not charge for sub-1K stat buffs, or stop buffing entirely. Both of these hurt me as I lose income from buffing.
But in any case what you end up with is you losing money on buffing or customers getting pissed at you. This is not fun. This in fact is almost intolerable and is leading me to think I should just quit buffing entirely saving me the immense aggravation of tracking down some morsels of avian meat so I can just get yelled at for sub-par buffs.
Additionally, I don't really care so much about the ability to overwrite buffs. I want the variability reduced.
If I have spent all my time and effort to get to a point that I can create D level buff packs, I should not be penalized with a variabilty that is bigger than most people's stat in the first place. I mean come on. I have had the same buff pack do 675 then that same pack do 2000. That is just insane!
I actually have people asking me if I am actually using D packs.

The only real way that they could make the overwriting viable is if it was based on the level of the enchancement
a b c d
Think about it for a second. A doctor keeps casting the same Health D on himself trying for a 2k buff. Wouldn't that be an exploit? Duration would be the same but the actually health would fluctuate so that they could keep trying.
Zarlor,
As always execellent job...../worship
My big question is how long has the number 1 issue for docs been number #1. It seems to me that they do not want to address this issue.
Can we break it out #1, into two seperate issues (medial forage and medical survery), or get him engaged in a discussion on medical survey. Then revote this issue next month, and see where medical forage falls. I doubt it is even on the radar for docs.
Medical forage is great for medics, but how i am supposed to medical forage14 units of the same item for something (then think stim c's with subcompents). You think there is storage/server issues now. That is just crazy!
Reguards,
Cas
Actually the latest lists, you'll notice, no longer have any mention of Medcal Forage anywhere in the issue. The last time it was sent in for comment it was mentioned in only one spot on the issue anyways and only to state that it was REALTED to the /medicalForage issues, not that it WAS the/medicalForage issue. That issue rightfully belongs more on the Medic lists than the Doc lists. I've tried to see what I can do for the current versions by removing all reference to /medicalForage on the issue description to see if I can work on pushing it more from that angle. (Always trying something different to get those responses.
)
As for how long, it wasthe #1 issue since the end of September. In the report sent in the end of August it was the #2 Issue. It didn't make it into the Top 5 for the list from the end of July, though. Of course at that time most folks had not gotten close enough to completing their templates for that to be as big of an issue at that time.
Or just leave mind healing out and fix existing issues first.
